[It's been a long few months with a rough landing on a less-than-inviting planet. The ship is flying again, but we've lost Makie. Still, the fleet drifts onward.

Welcome to the Twin Roses, Merlan. We hope you survive the experience.]

[Kitty is leaning against a wall just looking out through a window into space. She didn't think she'd miss this view. She usually prefers solid ground and often got lodging whenever they were on a hospitable planet. There's just something about cannibals that makes a place feel less welcoming though. But honestly everything they went through on the planet felt a little like, "oh, this again?" She's used to things being the worst. That was her normal for so much of her life. It doesn't mean she was excited to get back to it, but she dealt with it smoothly enough.

The thing that's actually bothering her right now is that Makie's gone. She was the last person who had been on the Windrose—before it became the Twin Roses—before her. And while it doesn't tell time any better than the calendar that tells her she's just two months away from her two year anniversary in the fleet it does impress upon her how long it's been and how she could get sent away just as quickly as she arrived.]

I should probably change if I'm going to brood. Bright blue is a bad brooding color.

I don't know. I dig the blue. Just don't go red, alright? I've cornered the market on that signature color.

[Vash says with a grin to his voice and on his face as he takes up a spot along the wall to lean against.] You doing okay? [As this time it was a member of her original crew instead of his own that had parted.]

[Vash will spend a lot of time in his room pouring over a book about flower care once they're back in orbit. His geraniums and other flowers didn't exactly get his full attention while they were on the last planet and he wants to be sure they're alright.]

Do you know anything about flowers?

[Vash can also be found in the cargo area. Kicking around a red ball he's gotten before. Expertly bouncing it from knee to knee and occasionally off the walls so it easily bounce back to him. Feel free to join him in his play.

At some points during the afternoon he will even play his harmonica to pass the time.

Otherwise find him sighing in the kitchen.] Oh man, how much longer until we get to a planet with some decent donuts?

I would never. I look weird in bright red anyway as I learned by wearing your coat while you were in a coma and running up and down the ship shouting, "peace and love."

[She gives him a little smile.]

I'm... I've had better days. I've also had a lot worse.

[For a moment Vash looks absolutely shocked and surprised. Unable to keep from picturing that image in his head. Then he breaks into a smile and a snort.]

No way you did that. [A beat.] Right?

[She shakes her head with a light smile.] I only removed your boots. If you woke up in less clothing than that you'll have someone else to thank for it.

Well, you missed your big chance then and lucky for me. Once you wear the jacket you would have never wanted to take it off. [He winks as he says it. Most people would just be impressed by how many pockets for bullets there are in his coat.] And I suppose I should say sorry for passing out in mid-conversation with you.

You know, I wasn't planning to blame you for that one. Seemed kind of unintended. I'm just glad we're both up now.

...I wish Makie were just sleeping instead of gone.

Yeah, I didn't think you were, but it was still a pretty rude move on my part. [He's mostly kidding. As it was a rude move, but he blames their "hosts" and not himself.]

I do too. [He wasn't sure what type of life Makie was returning to, but she seemed fairly happy with her life here. She never talked about wishing to go home like so many did.] I think we should place her shamisen [And by extension her weapon.] somewhere respectful in the ship. So we can return it should she ever come back. That way she'll also never be forgotten.

[He doubts Kitty would have just put it into the cargo bay to be forgotten, but he likes the idea of it being out for the crew to remember her by then in someone's room.]

Oh... Yeah, I think that would be fine. Good. [She'd just figured she'd put it in her room or something with the remains of what Winn left behind and Robb and Laura's pets. She might be living with too many reminders.] Maybe something to protect it just in case we get visitors. [Thinking more like a boarding party than people visiting crew members.]

[He taps on his chin as he thinks about that.] Maybe we could build a glass box to display it in then hang it up on the wall. Or well; something like that.

Yeah, something like that. Something transparent at least. [Maybe something sturdier than glass if they can find it.]

I wonder what she'd think of that. Maybe that we're sentimental.

Hard to say. She didn't seem overly sentimental herself at times, but she did care. [She just showed it in much different ways than Vash did.] I get the feeling she'd try to tell us we shouldn't be making such a fuss over her.

She would definitely be doing that. We'd be ignoring her and fussing anyway.

How are you holding up after everything?

[There Kitty goes saying weird things again. Chuuya laughs to himself.]

A dark color is better suited for brooding. If you're looking for an opinion, I think wine red is perfect for brooding.

[If she catches his drift.]

Flowers, huh.

[Chuuya may have an interest in flowers for various reasons, but flower care and things of that nature were things he never had much time for.]

I don't, but I do happen to know someone who was in a gardening club back in her world. I'm sure she'd be thrilled to help.

[It's what she does best.]

Hey, this doesn't not count as whining. I'd need more words for that. Maybe some pouting.

That would be good. These guys got a little bumped during the landing. I think they're alright, but I don't really know much about gardening.

[Happens when living on a desert planet.]

I just really don't want them to die. They're very pretty. [And interestingly the red geraniums are the exact same shade of red as his coat.]

And, actually, I hear we have you to thank for making sure our suddenly landing wasn't too bumpy. Great job. Thanks.

And all things considered? Waking up to a crashed ship? Stuck on a planet with hungry dinner guests? And people being sent away? I'm not doing too badly.

I mean, I could be doing better, what kind of planet doesn't have a good bakery? If the next place we come to doesn't have a decent place for donuts I may not make it!

I was thinking it was the lack of donuts that really brought down the place's yelp rating.

Yelp rating? I don't know. I thought the yelping was pretty loud. Or maybe that was just me.

[Nope. Her joke sailed ten feet above his head.]

Huh?

[He was going to ask, but then decided he'd move on to the part he'll like most.]

I'm asking if you want a glass of wine!

I wouldn't like it if they died either. You said you wanted to meet Fie - Here's your chance. She's who to go to.

[Chuuya nods.]

You're welcome. It's what I expect crew members would do for each other.

Really? Great! [Two birds with one stone. For now he sets the pots aside until he can speak to Fie.] Even more reason to get in touch with her soon!

And it really did help a lot with getting this ship back in the air. I know I was ready to get to flying again. Here's hoping the next place has better food. Like donuts. [A beat.] And some good wine.

...Oh.

Sure. Thanks. [Agreeing more out of awkwardness for getting his point wrong. Thinking he was saying she was whining by bringing up wine. Maybe she should expect fewer puns from people who aren't her.]
