[It had taken Maggie the short time aboard the Marsiva to collect herself. She hadn't even messaged anyone she remembered until now. It had been a strange transition waking up aboard the strange yet familiar ship, only to realize this had been home once too. Maggie had struggled back home, but now she felt her grief settling into a cold anger. She could channel that into something productive if she was to be stuck here in the fleet again.

Finally addressing the fleet, Maggie's features look calm, compared to the confusion of most arrivals.]

I'm assuming this place hasn't changed any? New arrival gets sent to their new ship from the Marsiva and all that. Though I'm curious what the Atroma find so fascinating about me this time around.

[She had become a leader, a force of nature in human flesh. She might still grieve her losses and feel hesitant to reach out to a new crew but she would help them get by the same as she'd done when she'd been on the Goldstone.]

Private - Carl Grimes

[Maggie has her hands folded under her chin, trying to think of what to even say to Carl. She could start with questions - how long was she gone? When had Enid left? She had absolutely skimmed their ship's rosters for them, not seeing Enid's name listed anywhere. She no longer saw Rick or Daryl's names either which meant Carl had been here alone.]

Are you on the Red Fish right now? I want to see you.

[If only to give him a hug and maybe make sure he'd been taking acceptable care of his eye and doing his physical therapy. Rick and Michonne weren't here to take care of him so it fell to her, just as it would if their roles as parents were reversed.]

Action;

[Upon arriving, Maggie deftly brushes the confetti out of her hair and ignores the Atroma's usual pomp and circumstance. She had half a mind to make her way to her new lab, but instead she takes her time exploring with her celebratory chocolate goo in hand. She had never been on the Blameless before now.]

Hello?

[Say hello to your new crewmate, Blameless?]

Maggie! You're back! [Was this something you needed to know? Oh, and there was a question in there somewhere.]

Yes, same deal with the arriving unless it just changed.

[ Hearing Maggie's voice again is like breaching the surface after being under water. There's a wave of relief recognizing who he's hearing- that Southern lilt is extremely distinguishable. Carl answers her call almost immediately. ]

Yeah, I'm still here.

[ She's missed a great deal of the really dangerous stuff, so it will be acceptable to skim over it, right? ]

[For a moment she takes him in, feeling her own relief that he's still here and she hadn't imagined his name on the roster.]

Good. I hope I wasn't gone too long.

[A beat]

I'll grab a ship and come to you. I want to see you in person.

[To hug him, to take him in really. Her mind was a disheveled mess. She'd lost one set of memories only to have them forced back into her head again, not unlike when she'd gone to sleep only to have her memories of home catch up with what Enid knew.]

Is it just you here? I don't see Enid or anyone else on the rosters.

Yeah, I am. [She smiles a bit at the obvious thing he's said. It was good to see another familiar face.]

And I'm on a different ship this time. Dunno if that's a good or a bad thing.

[The jury was still out on that one. ]

What about over there? Everyone still there?

They just put you on a new ship? [That seems mean, Atroma.]

Well, Zelda left, but where you there when Zelda transferred over? [It's hard remembering when everyone came and went.]

[ He nods. ] Just me. Daryl left around the same time you did. Dad was around for a few months before he was gone, too. Enid was the last to go.

[ It had not been a great time, but he handled it. At least his crew had stayed relatively the same throughout. ]

I see. [So Carl had been left here with no one from home - something she had never wanted to happen since they had first arrived together.]

Well, I'm glad you got to see him for a little while. Your dad should be just fine where he is, same with the rest of them.

[For now. They were conspiring a war, after all. Plotting and scheming didn't exactly keep a person safe.]

I'll be there as soon as I can. We can catch up more in person. I just got off the Marsiva a few hours ago.

[Already she had found herself in a new crew, still separated from Carl.]

The Atroma put me on the Blameless this time.

Mmhmm. [She can only nod, her memories still a bit foggy on who was in the crew and who wasn't.]

I'm not sure if I was. Might've been - was it around when our ship merged with the Pathstone?

No, she joined later. It wasn't for very long.

How are you doing? Does it feel like you were gone? [He knows those things don't always line up in a way that would make the most sense.]

[ He's not some kid who should need coddling. A lot of things have happened recently that put his problems to shame. He doesn't need to complain or get sympathy. Keeping the ship running has kept him busy enough that the loneliness is easy enough to ignore. Besides, he's had his crew. Not that he's particularly close with any of them.. ]

Yeah. He'll be okay. [ Carl cracks a smile at her. ]

They love shuffling you around, huh?

Yeah, they do.

[She smiles too feeling for the first time today that maybe things could be okay, even if they aren't home for a while. She can actually put all those worries aside for the time being, even if she misses the small life that had been the one thing left tying her to Glenn.]

They let me keep the lights, though.

[She pans her camera a bit, showing him the lights that he'd gotten her at Christmas the last time she'd been here.]

Hmm. Maybe it'll come back to me.

[As for his questions, she just shrugs.]

A bit? I have memories of home and all, but then I have memories of being here too.

[Some of it felt like another lifetime but there were bigger moments - patching up the crew after the scavenger invasion, the ship merging with the Pathstone - that stuck out.]

How is everyone else? I see a few names I kind of remember have disappeared off the list.

[And then there were those she had known from home who had gone away too.]

[as always, Tempest never expects returns. Especially not people she knew]

It has not changed, no. Welcome back.

I'd say it's good to be back, but then that's only because there could be worse places.

[She gives a smile all the same, glad for the familiar face.]

The Atroma put me on a different ship this time.

[And she had a strong desire to put in a transfer to the Goldstone, even knowing that they had a lab assistant and this ship did not. It was purely out of sentimentality and wanting to go back to that familiar place again.]

It's like it always is. People come and people go. It seems like more people are going than coming lately. [He's not sure if that's good or sad. A little of both somehow?]

Takeshi got older. I mean we all did a little bit, but he did all at once. He looks a couple of years older. And we had half the fleet get attacked and crash land on a planet of cannibals.

[It's really nice having this conversation with him up until the cannibals bit because - what?! Maggie starts a bit, sitting down in the video and rising in her seat a bit with a look of horror.]

Cannibals? Did everyone make it out alright? Did you kill them?

[Well, that would be something to grill Carl about later that's for sure.]

I didn't have to kill anyone, but a lot of that happened. I think the fleet made it out mostly okay. It went better than the system before it somehow. Several people died and came back to life there. [How do you feel about the dead coming back to life, Maggie?]

Who died - how many?

[She's practically gripping her seat now, trying to find calm and failing.]

Were they- were they still dead when they came back? Did you check for bites and scratches and things?

[Well this is going to end up being a more revealing conversation than intended. Maggie never thought they would be on a planet with zombies. She's also never heard of the crew dying either. She knew they couldn't really age the same as a normal person. Takeshi had still been incredibly young the last time she saw him and hearing he had finally grown up a bit made her happy for him. Now all she could think of was the memory of digging a bullet out of his shoulder and stitching him up.]

It was around ten people I think. I don't remember who exactly except Okita. [Partially because he was in a coma when it all happened and by the time he woke up it wasn't long before they were all alive again. That and the information wasn't all that clear and centralized. It took awhile before he even found out about his own crewmate. But these other questions are more confusing. He's pretty sure they're weird even if he doesn't understand everything about Earth.]

...How would they be dead if they are alive again? And why would we check them for that?

[Shit. She was careful about how she spoke of home on a normal day. This was not a normal day.]

It's just something that happens back home where I'm from. An infection that can be spread through bites that only keeps them up and moving unless you kill their brain. You said they come back from being dead so I thought it was something like that.

[And now she wishes she hadn't assumed.]

Why would you want to kill their brain? Isn't it good that they came back? [He's sure he's missing something here and infection doesn't exactly sound like a positive thing.]

... Miss Maggie...!

[He has to rub his eyes, because — it's just so rare to see people come back...

He'd always wished for his mom and dad to show up — like he'd shown back up before, on the Tranquility... many years ago. But now he's getting to see Maggie; it's wrong of him, because she probably has better places to be, but he's so dang happy to get to see her again...!!]

Maggie, you're here! Are you okay??

I'm here - I'm alright. It's good to see you, too.

[Should she still call him Captain? She wasn't on the Goldstone anymore.]

The Atroma put me on the Blameless this time.

[But the minute he said he needed her on the Goldstone she would be there.]

That is certainly true.

[she offers a small smile in return; she did miss Maggie]

—did they? Do you plan on staying with them or should we steal you back?

Hm. Honestly? I'm not sure. They seem like nice folks and if I left they'd have no medical officer in an emergency.

[But she does miss Takeshi and Tempest and the others already - now that she remembers who they are, at least. It was so strange being on a different ship too.]
