[Maggie opens up on the feed, looking all business. She's down on the planet like some of the others are by now, exploring their new surroundings.]

Like some of the others have said, this place seems pretty empty and supplies don't seem to be a problem. If anyone of the other Captains - or whoever else - wants to put a list together of supplies, let me know. I'm already working on one for the Goldstone if anyone over there has any suggestions. I say we get what we can from this place while we can and keep our eyes open for trouble.

[It felt like she was back home again, organizing supply runs for the Hilltop or Alexandria. This was where she felt most comfortable - trying to get together what people she could, doing what she could to help.]

Action

[Maggie can be found wandering from place to place, trying to take note of what supplies were where and jotting down ideas of how to best ship it all back onto the ships. Whoever lived here might still come back and that was fine too. For now, their stuff was going on her list to become the fleet's stuff.

Maggie stopped in one of the houses, testing the water, testing the lights, going through cabinets and food storage. She would take what she could get her hands on. If anyone felt like stopping her or helping her, they were absolutely welcome to.]

You don't think that this place being empty like this is creepy?

[Keith felt jumpy. Usually, when he's in a place that's pretty much all robots, the robots attack.]

I do but an empty town isn't the worst thing I've seen. It's what might be hiding in it that has me on edge.

[Maggie looks up from the cabinet she'd been digging through to address him.]

The robots aren't so bad in comparison to people, I think. If we had natives around at least they might pose a bigger threat.

[She hasn't ever fought robots though.]

[ It's like clearing houses all over again, and the routine is honestly a little refreshing. While Carl does have to admit that knowing where their supplies every month are coming from is nice, this feels a little closer to home. He and Maggie had split up to take the two closest houses. He doesn't take a lot with him- just a few things from the kitchen cupboard and some books that looked like a decent read. He makes a note of what else is there and sends it off to Maggie before he walks into the house she's looking through.

He makes sure that his footfalls make enough noise to announce himself. ]

Not a lot next door, but I sent you a text with everything that looked useful. What did you find?

I'm suspicious of the supplies from this planet. Okay, I'm suspicious of things from all the places we come across, but it feels more founded this time. Too good to be true. [But she's also not sure she's ready to just walk away from the resources on a bad vibe.]

Well, these particular robots don't seem to be. [Keith frowned a bit.] I guess I'm used to the more military drone style that attack you on sight. [There was a beat and he went back to the cabinet he was looking through.] But, yeah... [His voice was a little muffled, and he was talking a bit louder now that he had his head in a cabinet.] I can see native being a potential problem, too. Thing is... [He pulled back out again, having found a few rolls of paper towel.] A few of us that are pilots took some of the shuttles and did a sweep. We didn't see any signs of life at all.

[ He waffled a little on whether he should go-- on the plus side, free food and whatever else is down there, and also as much as he likes space travel the Caprine is a little stifling.

But on the other hand-- well, you know.

He has a bad feeling about this.

Which is why he's glad for the company. ]

So I'm guessing most planets you stop on aren't so... empty.

[ This place, like many of the others in the fleet, puts him on edge. Something isn't right, and he's not about to get comfortable. He's not interacted with many of the other officers lately, but this place is definitely the planet for solidarity. ]

This planet seems more than a little suspect. It would be foolish not to stock up while things are ripe for the taking, but there's bound to be consequences for it.

[Maggie looks up from her work, pushing her hair out of her face as she straightens up and brushes herself off. Splitting up and combing through houses reminded her of home. Their first days in Alexandria had been like this - cleaning out both houses they'd been given and then hunkering down in one of them just so they could stay together.]

Hey. Yeah - I saw the text. I'm having about the same luck. Just food, empty rooms with no one in 'em. They do look like people lived here, but they're not quite lived in, you know?

[No mess, no signs that someone had just been there.]

I am too, but it'd be good to have a bargaining chip regardless. Too good to be true or not, we could put some of this stuff to use.

[It's a risk, but bad vibes don't outweigh their usefulness.]

[Maggie shakes her head in answer, shoving her list in her pocket while she tries to decide how to explain to him.]

Well, usually there's natives - they aren't always like us. Usually they have their own culture, their own language. Stuff like that. They'll let us buy stuff with credits or labor. So... yeah. Definitely more full than this.

[She regards him for a moment.]

Why, what were you expecting?

We can handle consequences. Maybe not all of us are fighters, but there's ways to work with that. I still think it's a good risk to take. It'll pay off.

[And it's honestly right up her alley. She had stolen from people who didn't want to be stolen from before. It worked out eventually.]

[ It felt different from home, in a way. The houses were once lived in like those back home, but this felt.. different. Where the epidemic happened at home, all these people just vanished one day. How did a whole city just disappear? It doesn't feel right, makes him antsy, like waiting for the other shoe to drop- because it always does.

He mills around the room she's in, picking up a family portrait and studying the faces smiling back. ]

I wonder what happened. It looks like they just put down what they were doing and disappeared. It's like when things started at home, but.. at least then, you could tell people left in a hurry to get out? Here, there's nothing.

Those that aren't have those of us who are fighters. The fleet is pretty good about raising up arms in times of need.

[She nods. She knows there are practical reasons for it. People and ships can't always afford everything they'd like or need from other planets and if they are here a long time then they'll keep running lower and there are never any guarantees about the next stop.]

I'm sure some people are already eating and using things from the planet, and I haven't heard of any problems yet, but I feel like we should run some tests on the items if only to have a baseline understanding if that does change.

I dunno. People. Or if not people then... not all of this.

[ Alien civilizations, that's nothing-- the truth is he's not quite sure what she means by not always like us, unless she means migratory captives. But either way-- this is weird. This has to be weird in any universe, right? ]

Makes you wonder what happened.

See anything by way of medical supplies? I haven't had a chance to look around yet, myself.

I'll help you out, Miss Maggie! After all, it's real important to keep our ships all stocked up.

I feel bad not paying, though... Maybe I'll leave some credits on the grocery store counter...

Still trying to get a complete picture but it's all obvious stuff so far. Bandages and things like that. It'll still come in handy, though.

[Anything would be helpful at this point. The more they had the better.]

I didn't see any drones or robots before I came here. Anything I should be on my guard for?

[She's been in the fleet long enough to have a basic understanding of them at least.]

No life... all this technology. There has to be someone powering it. Or somewhere these people could have disappeared to.

I wonder where they could have gone to. Once you get outside of these buildings and go further out, you don't get the same weird refresh. Like this place seems too perfect and all, but even a place run by computers an' all that has to have something it originates from, right? Someone pulling the strings maybe.

[At best, it reminded her a bit of the Marsiva which would send them supply shipments now and again.]

How would these people get out and not find a way back in? Unless they were forced to leave, like you said.

Assuming we'd have enough people and weapons for it. People can get hurt, the ships can take damage. We have to be cautious.

[She says as she tucks more fruit into a pack.]

I'll see about doing that when I get some samples back to the lab, unless there's a ship that's more focused on science than medical. I can pass it along if that's the case.

[Whatever worked, honestly. She knows she's trying to think ahead and it might be reckless to steal from an abandoned pile of food, but she wants to trust that it won't cause too much trouble. It's all survival for her.]

Yeah.

[She gets it. They're going on literally nothing but their guts out here and she's taking advantage of all this free stuff without stopping to think of the possible outcomes.]

I haven't seen any signs of people leaving in a hurry or being forced out. It's like they just up and walked out after cleaning up or something. The place is just neat.

If you want to leave credits you can. I don't think it'd be somethin' they worry about. The food restocks on its own.

But who'd clean up without packing up?

[ He shakes his head. Right now he'd very much like his blaster back, thanks... Part of why he's looting, honestly, you never know what you might find.

And also there's junk food.

He'd feel better if he understood where the junk food was from. ]
