Action/Voice. Sherlock Sam and the Funky Bunch

[Being soulless had not been the worst thing in the world for Sam. There's worse to glitch to. But when he wakes up one morning fully resouled and with every memory of being either a pervert or an ass, he resolves to groan into his hands and wish to go back to sleep for a few years. But life's not nearly so generous to a Winchester, so sooner or later he's up and around the fleet again (trying to pretend he didn't hit on someone who is like a sister, or insult everyone's hair, or make out with a friend. Oh god. Regardless, he is... around. Gym, The Space bar to work, the Bloodsport.

He's Sam again. Like, sappy furrow-browed Sam. Thank god?]

[Action. OPTION B. (Later in March)]

[When they land on the planet, Sam's instantly skeptical. It means he should be digging around in whatever has bodies of literature, obviously - so he's in the library, nose-deep, brow wrinkled in deep thought where he scours over blueprints, informational works, and so on. Feel free to break his concentration or make him go sleep or eat, because he's kinda getting really involved in living in this damn library.]

Voice.

Hey, guys. I think I've got something that'll help us. So this place - Nariba Relia, it was some passion project with regards to settling down and making a planet inhabitable. Actually, that's kind of what we're used to, right? Planets that aren't quite as inhabitable, people adapting where needed. Anyway, they were working on this replicator tech - I'm assuming that's the replacement of already used supplies, like we've been seeing in town.

There's not much else here that talks about it, but it's at least something... I've found a few blueprints here, too - if anyone wants to look into them, I'm more than happy to pass off whatever I come across so we can find where the hell the people here went. I, um. I also wonder if the fleet... uses something similar to replicator technology?

I mean, we always seem stocked with particular foods, don't we? In the kitchens. Sure, we can bring our own foods aboard the ships, but I've always wondered how they restocked the basic gels and all that. If we were on typical spaceships from home, I'm sure we'd have run out of rations by now, right? It's just a thought.

Anyone interested in sifting through these blueprints with me? There are a hell of a lot; a whole town's worth, and all that.

Maybe we can get something out of them that we could have from Nariba Relia's citizens.

[They always return to the scene of the crime! Especially when the scene was the gym and they both like to stay in shape because you never know when things will get apocalyptic. So it isn't too shocking that eventually after a certain "training session" Kitty and Sam find themselves in the gym again together and alone.

She'd thought about calling him a few times, but she wasn't sure what to say. Or really how to feel about the whole thing. It was fun, but she doesn't really feel ready for it even if she's also lonely and touch starved. Winn returning feels less and less likely every day, but she's still in love with him and that complicates everything for her and for anyone she'd do any "moving on" with. And as she continued to not call she eventually noticed he wasn't calling either which made her reflect more on the state of Sam and how something seemed different the whole time. He definitely looked different to her, but then it felt like they were talking the way they usually would. But they've definitely never made out before and he's never hit on her, so was that the only difference or was it more? It's hard to put her finger on, but she's pretty sure it was more.

And the moment she sees him again she's even more sure because he looks like he always had and not like he did that day. Not bad or anything, but a little more mature? A little more in his head? Though she's not sure what it all means.]

Have you spent a lot of time down on the surface during this research?

[TUNK. Here, a bottle of liquor for you. Don't worry, Cas tasted it to make sure it's not poisoned or anything. ...also a PB&J, because he hasn't seen you eat in the past twelve hours.

Cas wanders off to paw through a few nearby shelves, though he keeps nearby. Apparently he's assigned himself to babysitting duty.]

['Yes I wanted to avoid everything in the fleet ever.']

A considerable amount, yeah. How about you?

I can help you look at them. [Asuka sounds vaguely less annoyed than usual. It's always better to work with a goal in mind than it is to be aimlessly digging.] The whole thing's too screwed-up.

Can't disagree with you there. Usually back home, an abandoned town means some really dangerous and destructive stuff happened behind the scenes. Whoever lived here... it's best to figure out the fates of them, to avoid it happening to us next.

I have been awake for a good 24 hours so I have no room to talk.

But I feel pretty okay. This coffee tastes good and I'm not glowing or evolving into the next stage of man.

[But ask Sam if the potential for radiation has ever stopped him from doing supernatural hunter shit.]

[He leans back from his seat, weary-eyed but sharp enough to get what's going on.]

What, no sandwich for you?

[Sam's doing some of his usual, though this time he's got himself a sweater that, despite being quite big on any normal human being, is rather form-fitting and tight over his shoulders, hair in a short ponytail save for escaping bangs on one side. He looks a little older, a little more frayed compared to the man she'd kissed —

Ah. Sam glances at her and sits up sharply from the weight bench.

Smooth. He may seem a little surprised (maybe mortified), sure... But he'll do his best to try to not make this any more awkward than it could have been or may be now. It was just... a thing. A thing that happened. He's had way worse go down in soulless mode; this is at least nothing too bad, was really nice in fact, in memory. He's not sure how to feel about the idea that she wanted to return a kiss — it's not love or anything, not like that, but it was a very personal and unerasable thing between two living breathing people.

Sam tucks his wayward strand away behind a slightly pointed ear.

He has to explain, and it sucks.

And in as normal a reply as he can, like they're just chummy at the gym, he says:]

Hey, Kitty. How're you doing today?

[This is already going so well, Sammy.]

[Starting with the small talk? Probably easier, sure. She steps in closer to where Sam is because why call across the gym to each other?]

Mmm, still the captive of mysterious alien overlords, but otherwise doing pretty good. You?

Where are you at? Library? Secret blueprints office?

[a snort] Thanks. I've had worse welcomes, probably.

Yeah.

[Back home, there are plenty of abandoned towns, but everyone knows exactly what happened. No one goes without a trace at all. She clears her throat.]

Shinji said he'd found graves. But the tombstones don't have names written on them. It made me think the planet wasn't even real. Like a placeholder.

I have been assuming that the fleet used basic replicator technology to provide essentials since I first came here.

[He's from the space future, why would he think otherwise.]

What blueprints have you found, if I may ask? Is there anything related to this technology?

Let me know if that changes. Someone came to me concerned so I'd like to keep an eye out for it with people who've spend a lot of time planetside.

[He wipes his neck, smiling a little. He doesn't flinch away or back up or anything; last thing he wants is for Kitty to think he's suddenly freaked out over her. He's not. He's freaked out at the fact that soulless him had taken it upon himself to make out with someone he knew.

Ha. Soulless him, as if he is really that separated. He's certainly no stranger. Soulless is always around, mocking in the back of his mind when he trips on his words or inches away from a situation.]

... Kitty, um. About the other day...

[There is literally no good way, huh?]

Library, yeah. I wouldn't say 'secret' more than just... being a little buried.

What, I sleep plenty. I'll take a nap sometime.

We have limited time from trip to trip, after all; gotta keep looking just in case I miss something... And just in case the population here is in trouble. Which seems to be a general theme.

If it is being used in the fleet, I'm a little worried; it sounds like something went really really wrong here, and I'm just hoping it wasn't the replicator tech screwing things up... [A pause.] There's not a lot here, just blueprints to other buildings. But maybe they can lead to something more substantial.

I bet. All right, I'm on my way, let me just - remember how the fuck I got down there the other day.

[there's a grunt as he gets to his feet and starts moving through his ship] Probably. Someone's probably got me beat for a more worse welcome.

[The flinching would definitely be a little hard to take even if it would also be understandable. She's just had too many people react to her like that. Not generally after making out with them, but you know, the whole mutant thing.]

You were glitched in some way, weren't you?
