In the beginning, it's rather easy to write off the very organization of the fleet -- her ships and crews -- as a cheap means to keep us under thumb. Emotionally connected. Manipulated, in a sense. [ ... ] But it doesn't change how real these families become.

Nor how real our opportunities are. [ peggy's cheeks puff. ] The fleet offers a great many lessons in how to live with as few regrets as possible.
