Don't Dead, Open Inside || Action

Who: Carl Grimes, a bunch of zombies, and you
Broadcast: kinda?
Action: Waystation
When: Right now

(( ooc: This is a blanket content warning for blood/gore/death. So! There are zombies ahead and you’ve found yourself on the waystation! You have two options: evacuate, or fight them off. Things of note to remember: Being bitten or scratched are the easiest ways for infection. We don’t suggest being eaten. Magic will be hit or miss depending on player preference/discretion. Characters who become zombies will be treated as in-character deaths. Standard rules apply! The event will last a total of 24 hours. Have fun, and enjoy all the undead things. If there are any questions or anything at all, feel free to pm this journal or hit me up at [plurk.com profile] skorozima. ))

[ The Fleet has been floating along its predetermined path for the past few days, getting further and further away from the Yadrolla System and toward unknown territory. Along the way, those oh-so convenient waystations continue to pop up at their usual intervals. Identical in every way to every other, boring waystation. Neat, right? There are even some of those familiar orange-skinned aliens and some human travelers milling about and generally minding their own business. It’s a good place to stretch your legs, get sodas of questionable flavor, and take those nifty new pets for a walk!

Interrupting the general peace of the waystation, a shrill siren starts, and a robotic voice comes over the intercom as well as all communication devices on the station and surrounding spacecraft, repeating a monotone message. ]

ATTENTION. THIS IS AN EMERGENCY. LOCKDOWN IMMINENT. ATTENTION. THIS IS AN EMERGENCY. CALMLY EVACUATE USING THE NEAREST EXIT. LOCKDOWN IMMINENT..

[ Soon, it becomes apparent to those on the waystation what the emergency is. A gaggle? A murder??? Just.. a lot of undead. They’re not in any particular hurry, shambling and stumbling along.. until they spot what looks like some good eats. That seems to get them excited, arms stretching forward, teeth gnashing, and more growling than any sort of verbal mishmash meant to be words. THEY’RE NOT A WORDY PEOPLE, OKAY?

For those looking to escape, it’s quite easy to outrun them unless you’re not paying attention to your surroundings. Corners can be tough! Just don’t get bit or scratched and all is well, except for their incessant attempts at making you a snack. For those who haven’t come across them before, or have run into some variation of them in another world, they’re resilient up to the point of losing their head or the brain being destroyed. Limbs being broken or missing don’t seem to slow them down, just send them a little off-balance.

All they know is attack and eat.

For those of the fleet still on their ships, they gravitate around the waystation, seemingly not wanting to go anywhere. There is a short window of time from the emergency alert to the entire waystation going on lockdown. Those wishing to help evacuate can do so- but they have to be quick!

Once the lockdown is in place, communication ceases with the waystation. All the rest of the fleet can do is sit and wait, and hope for the best. The doors will re-open twenty-four hours later, once it’s clear the situation is handled and they can regroup, count their losses, and wait once again for the perished to rejoin their ranks. ]

[Even though the chances dwindle by the moment, Kaidan keeps making sweeps through the station looking for living people he might be able to herd to somewhere safe, until all this blows over.

If it blows over.

Not that he has any choice but to keep going. Keep moving. Keep shooting.

A few energy blasts sound from behind Flug, downing or staggering a few zombies, announcing Kaidan's presence before his booted footsteps can be heard
]
fightorflug: (Feeling woozy..)

[2] Kaidan! <3 major apologies for the delay

[Flug hears Kaidan before he sees him, not that the pure concentrated blasts of bright ionic energy are hard to miss. The inventor whips his head around; simultaneously overjoyed and apprehensive about this turn of events. The flame thrower spits one small flicker of flame to catch Kaidan's attention.]

"T-that weapon.." [He ventures, eyes still adjusting to the change in lighting, in a squint. Because that was surely what caused the blast.]

"Does it run on a power source?"

[With the zombies in momentary disarray Flug has adequate time to reach the newcomer, but should he? The rest of the room up ahead is divided up by shelving units, some overturned, with gaggles of the threat still spread throughout. It might require some strategy to maneuver depending on how much Kaidan can handle.]

[Kaidan, who isn't as much of a slouch in the brains department as most would guess, narrows his eyes a little at the cobbled together flamethrower, and then at the zombies ahead of them.]

Depends on what you mean by that, but I assume so. It's Atroma-issue, though, so your guess is as good as mine.

[He's eyeing those shelves as well, silently calculating routes and how he might close off angles by toppling some of those shelves over. Depending on how well the zombies climb. He hasn't really tested that capability yet, though they aren't anywhere near as nimble as husks, despite the similiarities]

I wouldn't recommend hanging around to find out. We need to move.

"R-right."

[It wouldn't do much good to take apart a fully functional weapon just to give a little more life to his own. As long as Flug was smart about using the flames sparingly, it should last. Seizing the opportunity, the Scientist quickly clambers over to Kaidan's side. Teaming up with a potential heroic type was always risky, but it's not like he can do much worse than the situation he is already in.]

"I've p-prevented further revivals by c-charring the remains of any that have fallen, but I seem to be lacking enough power to down them in the first place now."
bi_otic: (biotic badass)

Well...I can handle that part. I've found a temporary place to bunker until this all blows over.

[Meanwhile, the zombies are starting to regroup, scrambling over their fallen numbers. Kaidan raises his rifle, downing the first to give him breathing room, then raises his free hand. His biotics crackle in the air, a web of energy wrapping around his body for a brief second, his eyes flaring electric blue. The biotic field slams into one row of shelves, toppling most of a row with a series of crashes and crushing a few of the undead in the process.]

Stick close...[as if there wasn't going to be any question about that, he starts forward]
fightorflug: (That... sure is a thing)

[The sparks dance across Flug's goggles as he takes in Kaidan's powers, entranced. The zombies barely stand a chance, the shelf crushing them with such ease. One thing the undead inherently lacked were the reflexes to react quickly to such unforeseen threats. This ability was definitely to their advantage.]

"S-sure you even need a gun, when you can do all that?"

[He chuckles, half making light of the situation and half wishing he himself wasn't feeling so inadequately armed in comparison. Neveretheless, Flug aims a few quick blasts of flame at the few undead struggling to rise again, before they can recover from Kaidan's attacks.

He frowns lightly at the proposed strategy.]

"You would s-stay here longer? Is there really no way out?"
