Don't Dead, Open Inside || Action
Who: Carl Grimes, a bunch of zombies, and you
Broadcast: kinda?
Action: Waystation
When: Right now
(( ooc: This is a blanket content warning for blood/gore/death. So! There are zombies ahead and you’ve found yourself on the waystation! You have two options: evacuate, or fight them off. Things of note to remember: Being bitten or scratched are the easiest ways for infection. We don’t suggest being eaten. Magic will be hit or miss depending on player preference/discretion. Characters who become zombies will be treated as in-character deaths. Standard rules apply! The event will last a total of 24 hours. Have fun, and enjoy all the undead things. If there are any questions or anything at all, feel free to pm this journal or hit me up at
skorozima. ))
[ The Fleet has been floating along its predetermined path for the past few days, getting further and further away from the Yadrolla System and toward unknown territory. Along the way, those oh-so convenient waystations continue to pop up at their usual intervals. Identical in every way to every other, boring waystation. Neat, right? There are even some of those familiar orange-skinned aliens and some human travelers milling about and generally minding their own business. It’s a good place to stretch your legs, get sodas of questionable flavor, and take those nifty new pets for a walk!
Interrupting the general peace of the waystation, a shrill siren starts, and a robotic voice comes over the intercom as well as all communication devices on the station and surrounding spacecraft, repeating a monotone message. ]
ATTENTION. THIS IS AN EMERGENCY. LOCKDOWN IMMINENT. ATTENTION. THIS IS AN EMERGENCY. CALMLY EVACUATE USING THE NEAREST EXIT. LOCKDOWN IMMINENT..
[ Soon, it becomes apparent to those on the waystation what the emergency is. A gaggle? A murder??? Just.. a lot of undead. They’re not in any particular hurry, shambling and stumbling along.. until they spot what looks like some good eats. That seems to get them excited, arms stretching forward, teeth gnashing, and more growling than any sort of verbal mishmash meant to be words.THEY’RE NOT A WORDY PEOPLE, OKAY?
For those looking to escape, it’s quite easy to outrun them unless you’re not paying attention to your surroundings. Corners can be tough! Just don’t get bit or scratched and all is well, except for their incessant attempts at making you a snack. For those who haven’t come across them before, or have run into some variation of them in another world, they’re resilient up to the point of losing their head or the brain being destroyed. Limbs being broken or missing don’t seem to slow them down, just send them a little off-balance.
All they know is attack and eat.
For those of the fleet still on their ships, they gravitate around the waystation, seemingly not wanting to go anywhere. There is a short window of time from the emergency alert to the entire waystation going on lockdown. Those wishing to help evacuate can do so- but they have to be quick!
Once the lockdown is in place, communication ceases with the waystation. All the rest of the fleet can do is sit and wait, and hope for the best. The doors will re-open twenty-four hours later, once it’s clear the situation is handled and they can regroup, count their losses, and wait once again for the perished to rejoin their ranks. ]

[Flug thankfully shifts the flames away in just the knick of time, before taking off the other man's eyebrows-- regenerative skills or not, he probably doesn't want to be losing those. Unable to simply cancel out the flame, Flug redirects it full blast at the approaching horde. It might hold them back for the moment, but it won't be enough to take them all down. He hisses, not willing to take his eyes off the fight.]
"What are you doing here?"
no subject
[He turns on his heels to slice at the zombie that had been chasing after him.] "These things won't stay down!"
no subject
[Flug is quick to shout, descending upon the same zombie Manji sliced into with a fresh volley of flames until the corpse ceases to twitch.]
"T-these creatures will continue to rise if enough of them remains. The best method is to leave nothing left. The slightest scratch or bite just creates more of them--"
[That thought IS enough to get the Scientist looking away from his arson and at the man in question in startled wonder. If Manji didn't know, could he already be?...How would the worms react in such an environment?]
no subject
And that listing? Manji is currently missing a foot.] Oh yeah? Tell me about that biting issue. [Said in the most sarcastic tone he can muster. His missing foot still twitching away where he's stuffed it in his belt. Partly wrapped in a blood stained Hawaiian style t-shirt.]
no subject
[Horror, absolute fascinated horror, over takes the doctor's expression. His foot. Manji's actual foot is dangling on his belt and looks to somehow still be mobile too! Flug hesitantly turns his aim back toward Manji, hesitant.]
"W-WHY are you still HOLDING ONTO That?!"
[This could potentially be very bad-- and exciting!-- but mostly BAD. If zombies gained the ability to regenerate, they may be a much tougher fight than Flug is anticipating.]
no subject
And I promise you, Doc, if you try to burn me? I will cut you down before the flames even have the chance to burn through my clothes. [He means it. He will lose very little sleep over killing someone attacking him for any reason. Besides, what's a little fire to a man who can heal? Manji had both feet when he came onto this station and his one leg has already healed as if he's never had a foot there before.]
no subject
"You don't seem to be infected..."
[The Scientist admits, relenting.]
"B-but that doesn't mean you can't still be a carrier! Have you even tried properly destroying it? It.. doesn't look as if it will 'go back.'"
no subject
"Because it's my foot!" [Manji scowls as the truth comes out.] "They just need a little more time is all! It's been bleeding and twitching a lot less lately so it's probably getting better." [Probably.]
no subject
[Oh what does he care if this idiot wants to get himself killed in a horribly gruesome fashion? Oh right, because he's trapped here with him and Flug will probably endure the same. The Scientist pinches the brow between his goggles in mounting frustration, heedless of the half-dismembered remains from their battle beginning to drag themselves back towards them.]
"Suppose that means you won't give it to me for my studies. Fine. Fine. Okay. M-maybe the worms have a sterlizing agent. L-like.. like a vulture! We can do a PH reading later!"
no subject

[There is groaning now, and it's coming from more than than Flug, not that the bothered Paper bag appears to notice. Hrnnn. He needs to salvage this. He raises his arms placatingly.]
"It involves one drop of liquid onto litmus paper. Measures how acidic something is. I-if it's more corrosive there is less chance any form of virus can survive! More evidence it's safe to reattach."
[But if you want to just eyeball it and guess, be his guest!]
"O-or we can try something else?"
no subject
You don't get to touch this foot without my express say-so. [Manji turns to the zombie dragging it's way closer to them. Effortlessly he cuts through the zombie's neck in a way that the severed head flies off towards the doctor. Not close enough that it's in danger of hitting Flung, but Manji wants to make sure his point is understood.] You got it, doc?
no subject
"G-Got it."
[And he'll just be shakily picking up his weapon once more to finish off what Manji leaves him.]
"So what's the plan? I ca- heard this place is going on lockdown. Was there somewhere you're headed?"
no subject
"An exit. They said this place is locking down, but perhaps there's a door I can break open." [So far he hasn't had much luck, but it's better than sitting still.] "What were you doing?"
no subject
[Because it's perfectly normal to believe he planned to waltz in here with an improvised weapon without having heard about the zombies first, right?... no. No that's worse somehow. The bagged man sighs, torching a zombie a hair too long in languid thought.]
"Also I.. I thought it might be a lead."
no subject
no subject
[He gives a hapless shrug. It's embarrassing how many times he thought he might have found some sign of villainy only for it to turn out to be a fleeter.]
"In my experience, i-if something is dangerous... it usually is so, for a reason. Atroma wants us to entertain, they also want to keep us from anything that can aid our escape. If I was to discourage guests from heading where I didn't want them, a dramatic threat like this would do the trick, wouldn't you say?"
no subject
[Off Manji hobbles. He's actually pretty fast for a one foot man. He's getting use to the height difference already.] "Come on. Let's go find more."
[And just like that Manji has abandoned his door finding plan to: find the most zombies he can find in one area while dragging Flug with him.]
no subject
For a man currently lacking limbs, Manji is remarkably fast, Flug quickly starts jogging to keep up. As enthused as he is about being in agreement, there is just one problem.]
"Z-zombies-- they- they make terrible guards. You simply can't give orders to something that lacks cognitive thought! They won't stick around to one area after they feed. Let's t-think about this. It's been a few hours since the threat was announced, yes? Than they may have strayed from their origin point."
no subject
no subject
[Flug casually points a bulkier walker, barreling towards them with considerable more momentum; but you have it under control, right? He's just going to continue to mutter his math like it's an ancient enchantment.]
"And given how far they've wandered by now, I'd say... There! I-inside the compound. That would be our best bet."
no subject
Manji draws his weapon just in time to use it to block the zombie rushing towards them. He really shouldn't be surprised by this point that the walker pushes forward and ignores the sword keeping him at bay as it slowly sinks into the creature's skin. But it's fine! Manji's got him to slow down so now Flug can torch the beast and-- and--
AND IS HE STILL TALKING ABOUT MATH?!
With a grunt Manji let's the walker back him up against the wall once it's clear that the doctor wasn't going to be any help. This let's him share his weight between the wall and his bad leg as his good leg raises up to violently kick the zombie in the stomach.
As it stumbles backwards away from Manji he's first quick to chop off it's hands as it tries to latch onto his kimono before taking its head.
The fight ends in a spray of blood just as Flug finishes.]
"Great. Thanks for the information and help, doc." [Can you hear the way his voice is dripping with an annoyed, unimpressed, he's not mad just disappointed, no wait he's actually mad as well, tone to it? ]
no subject
[It's hard to tell if Flug is oblivious or just that ambivalent over the situation, but he turns to Manji without a trace of mirth or sarcasm and at least torches what is left of the zombie remains. You did say you were one of the greatest fighters around didn't you? It would be rude of him to not give you the chance to use your talents!
Flug tilts his head to indicate the direction the creature came from, a gaping open cavity leading deeper into the facility. If there is any source to be found, surely this is it. He raised his weapon, ready as such a weak and scrawny thing could ever look for combat.
'Shall we?']
no subject
Manji gives his blade a firm flick to try to get some of the excess blood off of it before he awkwardly walks forward with his uneven leg height. Sword being held at the ready for whatever might jump out at them.]
