[ Ladon is still defaulting to audio broadcasts. That's not likely to change any time soon. He starts this one by clearing his throat momentarily. The awkwardness of addressing a large audience never really goes away. ]

Heard that sharin' resources is the norm here, yeah? So I got a proposition.

Tourist ain't got a decent kitchen. But I got a hankerin' for pancakes. So I'm wonderin' if any ship that's got one don't mind lettin' me borrow it. [ There's the crinkling of a bag in the background. Ladon has recently gone shopping and bought all he needs for pancakes... aside from a stove, of course. ] Can pay you back by feedin' you. Only ones I'll burn'll be mine. Also clean up after myself, yeah?

You ain't never had pancakes? [ This is a tragedy. He must correct it. ] Same kinda stuff that goes into makin' muffins, yeah? But you grill 'em up flat in a fryin' pan, then drown 'em in syrup.

Sure are. Hell, if I trusted the fruit here, could toss some blueberries in. Pretty sure the stuff they got here's dried out, though, and none of the stuff from the previous planet survived the, er. Gravity goin' off problem we had.

[ He'd been on kitchen cleaning duty. Or at least assigned himself it after he'd seen what a nightmare that had been. ]

Decent bein' relative, yeah. Heard there's a few that got bowls an' stoves an' fryin' pans, which's really all I need.

[ That makes him laugh just a little. ] Nah, nah. S'real food. Flour an' eggs an' everythin'. Sicka that protein goo that counts as food 'round here, yeah? Don't burn well at all.

[ And he's sick of having to locate Axel every time he has to eat. ]

So far it ain't ate my insides out. [ Though considering it would have to go through his furnace first, that isn't likely. Dragons can eat a hell of a lot of things that other creatures can't. They just deign not to. ] But I don't blame you, yeah? Here's hopin' we can keep stoppin' by these waystations or planets that have real food on 'em.

[he didn't actually mean to say that out loud, but he gets lost in thought for a second... before suddenly sounding like he's just had the best idea ever.]

We need to find a waffle iron. Why haven't I had waffles yet. [that was definitely more of a statement than a question.] I could probably engineer one out of a couple of things in the engine room! Ladon, you're a genius!

[a--cackle? that sounds like a short cackle.]

[ Which is a terribly helpful description of himself, really. ]

[ Either Robin really likes waffles or has found something to smoke other than waystation-bought cigarettes. ]

Genius might be a bit much, yeah? You wanna make one, though, m'all for it. [ Waffles burn just as nicely as pancakes do, after all. ]

[ And eventually Ladon finds his way to where the Red Fish is docked. He strolls on up and is indeed wearing a hat-- his dark gray fedora-- and is carrying a grocery sack full of pancake ingredients. He's opted for the clothing he's purchased here, a black fitted t-shirt and pants that they call "jeans." He feels a bit like a farmer, or a dock worker, but he doesn't have an apron and getting pancake batter on his suit would be less than ideal.

When he spots Syeira, he gives the brim of his hat a tug in greeting. ] Looks like I managed t'not get lost on the way, yeah?

[Pancakes. The man had said pancakes. And then Robin had said waffles. She knew because she was the comms officer and she snooped on everything that went out of the Bloodsport. And most of the other stuff that rode the sound waves.

She was really bored, okay?

That means they were having sweets, right? That's the only thing that could mean. Her life, it was all falling into place again. If he wasn't coming she was going to throw her version of a tantrum at Robin that was for sure.]

[he's distracted, for a moment... before he suddenly comes back. sounding much more grounded.]

Anyway, yes. A kitchen. Unfortunately, I don't think ours has all the needed parts yet. I can't be particularly helpful here.

Does that happen whenever you make pancakes?

[ It takes him a moment to recognize the word-- why didn't he take that one guy up on his reading lessons again? Oh yeah. Pride. But either way, he figures out what the text says, but still replies in audio form. ]

Yeah, if Robin can rig up a waffle iron, we can definitely go makin' waffles.

[ He laughs at that. ] Nah, that happens when I drive the ship. More often when someone's shootin' at us. Hopin' it don't again though, yeah? Floatin' ain't the best way of gettin' around.

Ah. [Somehow, Clay just thought all the ships were like the SS Vanquish. Thinking back on it, now it just seems silly.]

I think Vanquish is in the same ship as Tourist. [Which is the worst, because now he wants pancakes.]
