[Thor hates this planet, honestly. It's like a worse version of Sakaar, somehow, and he wasn't fond of that place to start with. The only upside Thor can see to Baruut so far is that he wasn't immediately captured and enslaved in a fighting arena.

Kind of a back-handed compliment.

But after his stint on the Marsiva and then spending a week looking after a shockingly young Loki, Thor's ready to put that baggage in the backseat and go look around anyway. He has a couple of items he's on the lookout for. It becomes quickly apparent though that finding a decent item is the harder task. The low quality of most wares annoys him and it's not uncommon to find him standing in front of a stall keeper, shaking an item at them and being loudly indignant.]

Yes, I know that it has clear sight, but if it only sees in green then what's the point of it as an eye?

[Is that an eyeball in his hand? .........yep. Unfortunate.]

b. watch for falling debris

[You're out in the junkyards proper, minding your own business. Doing whatever it is you decided to venture into canyons of rubbish to do. A distant yelp and a thud rings out somewhere above you - and you barely have time to look up before a body comes smashing down into the junk a few metres away, sending scrap metal and plastic spraying everywhere.

The 'body' turns out to be a very alarmed, very dazed junkyard thief. They scramble to their feet and run away shrieking, not looking back at you or in the direction they fell from. Should you decide to look up though, you'll see Thor pop up over the top of a hill-sized pile of rubbish a fair distance away. He waves to you and calls out:]

You should be mindful where you step! There are thieves about.

[Taako might not look like it with sheer blouse under a dark vest and a fringe skirt belt over a pair of slacks, but he was, in fact, a pragmatist. The flowers and feathers that adorned his hat spoke nothing to the fact that, when it came down to it, Taako was willing to do the dirty work to stay alive. He didn't trust the Atroma, and his ship was on a skeleton crew of just four people - none of whom were a pilot or a security augment. While they could probably all hold their own in a fight, that didn't mean he wanted to be stuck in one without some tricks up his sleeve.

So Taako, who claimed to hate an honest day's work and complained about chipping his nails, had his sleeves rolled up to his elbows as he dug through actual trash looking for spell components and useful metal. Most of it was too cheap or too flimsy to be of any real use, but occasionally, he found iron pipes or discarded steel scrap. He'd carry it down to a growing pile in the middle of the stacks he was currently combing through and then go back to the work he wanted no one to be witness to.

Which is, of course, why he heard a thud and a screech and then someone landed not ten feet from him in a burst of scrap waste. Taako was smart enough not to scream himself, but he did bring up his focus and his hands caught on fire as he watched the person-- run...away...?

...Hokay then?

What? Taako turns and the glow around his hands fades as he squints up at the man on top of the hill of trash. Is that?]

Thor?

[Yep definitely the God of Hunkiness himself.]

Well, thanks for the assist there, fella, but what are you doing all the way out here?

[Taako has a fairly distinctive style; it's not hard to see who it is even from this distance. He grins a bit at the reaction before shaking his head and calling back.]

Looking for an icebox. I have yet to find a working one in the market, so this was the next place to look.

[Anything found here also probably wouldn't work, but it would be free.]

An icebo--

[Oh. That makes sense. Taako has been forgoing the larger appliances just because he can't really lug them back. The closest he's gotten is picking up parts for Pidge to create an espresso machine.]

What do you need an icebox for?

[Can't freeze things with your pretty blue eye-- Eye. There's just one. Oh well.]

Doesn't your ship have one?

[Rather than keep having this conversation from the top of Garbage Mountain, Thor hops over the top and slides down the side. He hits the bottom easily, though there's a minor cascade of debris that comes down with him.]

Oh yes, several of them. [He waves off the question. With the Blue Fish, you can never truly have enough food storage.] But we could use another. We tend to stockpile food whenever we land in these places.

[Damn this guy is tall. Taako isn't a shorty himself, but there's no comparing to Thor's height and, well, Pan be damned, this man is a freaking mountain in and of himself. He's basically the polar opposite of Taako's captain and Thor's brother - although his brother definitely got the better hair.]

Ah, so you're looking for more of a meat freezer than an icebox.

[Something to stockpile food, jars, whatever else they can fit in those things. A large metal box with a cooling system or somewhere to put the ice needed to keep it frozen. Taako taps a finger against his bottom lip as he runs over all the things he's seen in this junkyard today, and then stretches his memory back to the last few he combed over for anything that would work.]

Do you have an artific-- Uh, what do they call them here? Engineers? On your ship?

Exactly that. We keep a lot of meat.

[Though it had slipped a little in the priorities, ever since Sokka had left. It's a regret that still lingers around Thor's thoughts. Taking on the First Mate position didn't change his actions that much, only made it Atroma's version of 'official' that he was managing the ship supplies.

Thor scratches at his neck with a sigh, his own conversations with Riona coming to mind.]

We don't. Not at the moment. We intend to use our time here to make as many improvements as we can that don't rely on the ship roles.

Smart.

[Taako isn't all that interested in making too many improvements to the ships beyond cosmetic and then arcane traps everywhere. He's banking on not being here long since he does have things he needs to get back to.]

Well, I believe I saw something that could work as an outer shell a few piles over.

[He points over his shoulder in the direction the thief ran.]

After that, I suppose you could scavenge the other parts and ask that nerd girl on the network. She's been looking for projects.

[ The garbage planet reminds him too much of the garbage people that had no sense of loyalty- only to the highest offer. This wasn't home, and there weren't weird garbage people living here. Well. Not too weird, anyway. They were all pretty par for the course and weren't really all that shifty, which Carl appreciated. It's given him time to wander around the markets and see what he can get for himself or his ship, which is when he runs into Loki's brother Thor... waving an eyeball back and forth as he talks rather heatedly with a local.

He watches in morbid fascination. ]

You could at least get a discount for partial function, right?

[Natasha is ready for a fight when the thief hits the ground. Clearly she's not in for one.

And the reason for that is immediately clear. She shakes her head, only mildly bemused.]

I think you already got this one.

[That makes Thor brighten.]

Great! Could you show it to me?

[His brow does crease after that, running through all the network posts he's seen.]

I don't believe I know who that is.

[Thor's moody already, but at least he turns to see who's commented before he tells them to butt out of the conversation. It cools his jets a little to see Carl instead of some random interloper. With a snort, he tosses the eyeball back to the vendor who gives an offended squawk.]

I could, if I had any intention of buying something that doesn't work. [To the vendor, pointedly:] Which it doesn't.

Some girl named Pidgeon? Pidge? Something like that - glasses, brown hair, basically exactly what you'd expect from a scientist.

[He had to remember her because she was making him his own machine. But as for Thor? He'd be happy to accompany this beefcake anywhere. Taako steps to the side and motions Thor forward.]

I'd be happy to, my man. I figure you'll keep any other thieves away, hm? But first?

[He'd taken time to finally find a chest that worked and he was going to use it for all this stuff he'd collected. Taako took a small chest out of his bag and concentrated, in front of him a larger chest appeared out of thin air.]

Do you mind? If two of us throw all this salvage in here, it'll go faster.

I should hope so. You have to make a point so they don't come back.

[And there are few who would try after getting punched into next weekend by Thor. He jumps down the side of the garbage mound he was on, sliding to the bottom before brushing himself off. At least he won't be shouting down to Natasha anymore.]

I don't think he will.

Haven't heard of her.

[The amount of attention Thor pays to the network ... varies. After spending a month asleep he wasn't particularly keen on spending his time scrolling around it. Thor steps up when Taako gestures, his eyebrows raising slightly as the wizard magicks a chest into being.]

Oh, sure. What's it for?

[He doesn't wait for an answer, moving to grab the nearest piece of metal Taako had picked out and drop it into the chest.]

I'll introduce you sometime.

[He joins Thor and starts tossing the smaller bits of metal into the chest, letting Thor handle the bigger ones.]

And these? For this and that. Improvements on the ship, spell components, because I don't trust the Atroma not to screw us, you know, the usual.

[He tosses another thing of metal in and sighs.]

And you never know when you'll need transmutation materials.

I wouldn't worry about it. [Thor, has it occurred to you this is a sort of an unfair fight?] Is this how you're keeping busy? Beating up thieves.

A good attitude to take. I don't trust the Atroma either, and don't want to become complacent about how things work around here.

[He drops another piece of metal into the chest with a clang.]

It's far better to have your own equipment than rely on theirs.

I would argue that some vision is better than no vision, but I dunno how seeing in green through one eye would work with the rest of it.

[ A thought hits him as Thor tosses the defective eyeball. ]

What exactly are you looking for?

[It's his policy to trust no one ever, so not trusting the Atroma is just second nature at this point. People or gods or whatever they are that kidnap people are generally untrustworthy.]

Thankfully, I don't need a lot of "equipment" to survive. I just need time to prepare.

[and to think and test the limits of the Atroma's power to bind him here. Taako tosses the last of the small junk in and casts Levitate on some of the final pieces of metal, pushing them toward the chest. He'll leave the last two for Thor to take care of. He hasn't had much trouble so far.]

So what about you, big guy? Any equipment you been looking for here other than the freezer?

[The other guy Started It. Thor shakes his head, laughing a bit.]

No! Not intentionally. I was out here looking for anything that might serve as an icebox.

I already tried it. It was bad.

[Imagine a 3D glasses effect, but with no purpose. There's no way Thor's paying to experience that all day.]

Well... [It's a good question. Thor rests one fist on his hip.] Really I was just looking to see if any of their replacements mimicked my actual sight. I had not thought further than that.

And someone tried to pick your pocket along the way? [Archly, but mostly amused.] Why are you looking for an icebox?

So it's as easy as that? Just pop in a new eyeball and bam, vision?

[ That concept sounds so surreal, honestly. ]

[Thor doesn't hesitate in hefting the last two into the chest. It's not going to make him break a sweat, after all. Dusting off his hands, he nods his understanding at Taako's meaning. Magic and wizardry isn't his talent but he's been around enough magic users to have a sense of what goes into it. He grew up with Frigga for a mother and Loki for a brother. He's familiar, if not adept. The less said about his tutors' attempts to teach him such things the better.

He glances around the junkyard with a slight frown, then he shrugs.]

Not out in the dump so much. I've been looking in the actual markets for some other things... shield equipment, weaponry, eyes. I have gotten some useful wares, at least.

....Eyes? Hokay then.

[That's a bit gross. Unless he means glass eyes? The eyepatch thing isn't lost on him, but he thought he was just trying to go for the Odin look. The other things though? That he can somewhat help with, if he was so inclined.]

Shielding for the ship for more.. [He gestures, making a round shape with his hands in the approximate shape of a regular round shield that most fighter classes would use.] ..personal use?

[The Levitation spell ends as the metal reaches the chest, crashing down into it.]
