Who: Kurt Darkholme
Broadcast: Video
Action: Space Bar
When: Today
Broadcast:
Kurt had put off acknowledging the disappearance as long as he could justify, in the hope that Makie might return. It had happened before, with her and others. But after a few days of her name stricken from the rosters, Kurt breaks and makes a rare video post.
"Otono-tachibana Makie has left the fleet," he says without preamble, his voice carefully level. From what can be seen of him, he appears to be somewhere on the Twin Roses while broadcasting, and has made an effort to choose a spot with good enough lighting he won't vanish into a stray shadow. "She left no instructions regarding her belongings, and so I've taken possession of them for the moment." What little she'd left, that is. "If there is something of hers what was promised to you or you'd like to have, you can find me on the Twin Roses or the Space Bar."
Kurt pauses as though to say something else, but instead sighs deeply and shuts off the feed.
Space Bar
True to his word, Kurt can be found at the bar, steadily putting away an impressive amount of alcohol for a man his height and weight. He seems to be taking no joy in it, knocking back whatever's put in front of him with the grim determination of someone who trying to drown an emotion.

On the house.

Afraid I'm going to pickle myself? You needn't be, I'm German. [ As though it weren't obvious; his already distinct accent has been made thicker as the concentration of booze in his blood rises. Even with his protest, he takes the glass and knocks it back just the same. ]

Not asking you to stop your brining process, just looking out for you.
And I'm sorry about Makie. I liked her.

So did I. [ Obviously. He swallows against the lump in his throat, featureless eyes staring down his glass. ] One of the classiest ladies I've ever known.

We both did very stupid things for love, for example.

And so he joins Kurt at the bar, ordering something that at least looks impressive even if it's non-alcoholic.]
I'll miss her.

That, we three have in common.

The Russian doesn't say anything, at least initially. If Kurt isn't in a talking mood, they can drink in silence.
Re: action;
His gaze flicks from Vision's face to his drink, and he considers toasting the other man before deciding it was too much effort. Instead he hums his agreement before adding in his thickened accent: ] I'll be adding it to the tree, her name, once I'm sober again. Won't be offended if you get to it first; I intend to be drunk a while.

Re: action;
"Danke," he mutters, his accent much thickened by inebriation. "Always wanted to try arsenic." He means absinthe, and doesn't seem to notice the slip. After a pause, he continues with, "Sorry you're still here, glad to see you."

Sure, most of the time. And then sometimes you fight demons literally from Hell who are trying to destroy time itself.

Pavel waves away the... apology? "Eh, being here isn't so bad when the alternatives are considered. I'm glad to see you as well... but maybe less glad to see how far ahead of me you are."

I don't remember the tree from the last time I was here, though I've seen it now. How did that come about?

Re: voice
[ And he's loathe to trust Vash with any decisions of import, captain or no. Still, Kitty would have his head if he didn't ask, and her opinion does matter to him. ] I'm afraid I don't recall your name.
