[And fresh from the medical ward, if the IV drip Flug is sporting is anything to go by. His goggles glint with mischievous glee as he steps away from his desk to reveal a seemingly inoccuous dial adjacent to the hallway doorframe.]

"Presenting Red Fish's prototype teleportation and travel station! Through these terminals I have installed, long trips of carrying heavy cargo, escaping potential threats and lengthy evacuation procedures are a thing of the past! With the turn of this dial, many doorways are now interchangeable! Just remember the terminals will only recognize you and a specific amount of mass your space occupies. Should you need you to add a guest or adjust these parameters simply report to me."

[Or just adjust them yourself through the terminal at the bridge; it's easy enough to identify through the copious amount of sticky note instructions Flug plasters over everything. But hey, he likes to feel important.]

"Observe!"

[And suddenly Flug strides into the kitchen... along with the potted plant from his room which also came along for no discernable reason. ]

[As useful as the teleporters were, having a side project helped provide good cover up for the other collaborative effort the fleet got up to. Ensuring all lights and cameras are off Flug boots up a different device...]

OOC: Teleporters on Red Fish! You didn't ask for them, you might not even want them; regardless you now have them! As expected of something cobbled together from a junkyard, they are prone to malfunctions; maybe sometimes you'll wind up in a different room than the one you intended or perhaps your tiny stereo likes to turn on and off randomly when the signals get crossed. It's yours to play with as you please! With that, I am officially back from hiatus. Excellent. Roger that Blameless. SS Red Fish reporting; all systems operational. Due to a lack of communications officer I intend to limit transmissions to optimize security. However, I'd recommend those who do have them do a performance check, perhaps monthly?
Have we yet established a procedure for informing new arrivals?

A monthly check is actually a good idea. We never know when the security can be compromised over night.
We have not. Since we've been discussing the project openly, I see no issue with just telling them when they arrive. Atroma knows about the network, they're always watching. It's the contents we're keeping private.

Interceptors have already been notified.

Personal living spaces aren't included in this ... right?

Anyway, he can already teleport (if that's the right word for it) so he doesn't find the new system all that useful. Though shadow travel did wear him out. And it would be good for the others, especially in an emergency situation.]

[Taako's Stone of Far Speech was the first thing to have this network installed on it, but then him being him, he'd shoved it in his pocket and promptly forgotten about it.

When the Stone beeps at him, he blinks and takes the thing out, staring at it. Sure enough, it has messages now. He makes sure that he's alone and squirreled away before he answers.]

At best, all people of his standing recieve is the blissful silence of no complaints or perhaps a gritty acknowledgement of his skills. Surely this comment was meant for someone else? But no.. "But- BUT, these terminals are designed to link up with the hallways rather than directly to bedrooms. The chances of the proximity reader placing anyone directly in your room should be quite slim."

In the past I have had transmissions hacked with the aggressors hiding their own messages among my coding. They used it to send information to eachother and coordinate future movements. I'd be wary of anything hidden in the programming code. These checks should catch such abnormalities much faster.

I don't like how easily Atroma could end up with access by sending a spy posing as a new arrival.

[A pause.]

But informing someone verbally after their trust is gained is the only real solution I have also.
Should we set about procuring extra units? Common devices at rest stops may be good for modifying.

I think that if Atroma got answer to our network, they would shit it down instead of using it. They don't like us having our own things - they destroyed the AI and data we stole from a planet once. But you have point. I trust captains to keep an eye on anything suspicious in their crews.

Extra units? I've leaving it up to each person. Whoever wants part of this can bring their communicator of choice and we can still it there. As long as it isn't an Atroma machine, it works.

"It is, isn't it?"

[Flug visibly preens; it's not often gets the chance to gloat and by god he is going to take it!]

"Hardly compares to anything I made back home, but it's a start. If this intrigues you, I'll have to show you more, Mr..."

[Flug quick glances at his device.]

"My work isn't finished until it's finished."

[Flug defends with a petulant waggle of his finger. It's true what they say, doctors did make the worst patients.]

"But.. I erm. Won't be taking on anything else.. for the moment."

[Flug has no doubts that Black Hat Manor could easily travel through time and space, assuming it even sat on the same plane of existence as the rest of Hatsville to begin with, which Flug somewhat doubted at times. Of course, that spoke more of his master than his contributions. ]

I can't forsee any climates giving us much problem with the signal, except for perhaps some of the magnetic fields generated by asteroid belts. The multitude of different machines in use will probably ensure at least one may still be working if the others are susceptible to something, as far as durability is concerned.

Ironic that our lack of supplies might actually act as a fail-safe in this instance.
