Who: Escha and YOU!
Broadcast: Yes!
Action: SS Starduck, if you like!
When: RIGHT HECKIN NOW!
[ Time for another video from the lab on the Starduck! Escha is smiling for the camera, and there are a whole lot of what looks like metal rods on the counter in front of her. ]
Hi everyone! It's Escha! I've heard about all of the weird things on this planet, and I know people really want to go tracking them down, so I thought I'd try to make something to help out with that... and it worked!
[ She picks up two of the metal rods and holds them up toward the camera, with the tips touching at an acute angle. At first, they look pretty plain - silvery gray, cylindrical like drumsticks - but every few seconds they seem to glow with a soft red light. ]
They're dowsing rods! They're alchemically altered metal, infused with some particular properties from materials I gathered on the surface of this world. If you take them with you and hold them out in front of you like this, they'll start to vibrate if anything weird, strange, or ancient is around! I tested them out for myself, and they do work! I found this!
[ She puts down the rods, holds up what looks like a HUUUUGE shark's tooth. Whatever shark lost that is probably like, unnaturally large. Holy crap. ]
Buuut... It also pointed me toward this, too.
[ She puts down the tooth, and with a sheepish smile, holds up... ... ... an apple. whoops~ ]
Just wanted to be honest about it... But, yes! They do work! For the most part. But, um, apparently every once in a while you'll get an apple instead. And, well, if you don't want apples, you could give them to me, I guess? I'll always take apples! [ Her smile turns a little hopeful~? ]
Anyway, that's all I wanted to share! Good luck looking for things, everyone! If you want to take some dowsing rods with you, come to the lab on the SS Wonderduck and I'll set you up with some!
(( ooc: Word of Mod sayeth they really will work!! Most of the time, they will point you in the direction of a cryptid-related clue or object that will help you out: a tooth, footprint(s), general direction the thing disappeared towards... but every once in a while, they will fail! You can have them just dud out, point at something completely normal, or... an apple. Because why not! So yes, feel free to have your character using these things however/whenever! ))

text;
do you want anything for them
like a trade or something
text;
A trade would work! I'll need materials to make more of these if more people ask for them, so if you're going down to the planet, would you mind keeping an eye out for some things? I can give you a list.
But only if it's convenient! You don't have to worry about it if it's too much trouble!
text;
it gives me stuff to do in between hunting and stuff
and besides its only fair
text;
I'll have the list ready when you come by to pick up the rods. They shouldn't be too hard to find! Just some thread and some kinds of rocks.
[ because that sounds normal. ]
text;
. . . that's it??]
and with that you can magic up those sticks? wow
even if its harder to find that's fine, i dont mind
worth it to find big foot's alien cousin
action;
Well, as nice as anything comes from being kidnapped onto a strange space reality tv show, but that's neither here nor there.]
Think of anything else you need while I'm planetside?
[Leaning in the door of the lab, but he's not actually entering the space. Bucky's desire not to impose is probably taken to the extreme, but it works for him regardless.]

But her crew is nice. She likes all of them a lot - even if everyone just keeps to themselves for the most part. It's still great when she gets to see them.
She looks up from her alchemy cauldron when she hears Bucky, and smiles. ]
Oh! Ummm, I think I'm okay! Do you need anything before you go? Any potions, snacks? Dowsing rods? Bombs?
[ She's already in synthesizing things, after all. ]
text;
Did you track down these weird things where you're from too? Like a big foot?

I don't think we need to blow the place up. [He chuckles a little. Translation: bombs sound fun, but might not be the most applicable in the current situation. Situations do change though.] Mostly I was thinking reconnaissance, seeing what kinds of supplies might be available for making our next Drift more comfortable.
[Translation: protein solids and gels suck.]

i tracked bad guys? so kinda the same thing, one guy i deal with often kinda looks like bigfoot

That's a great idea! We should stock up on some good food at the very least. I always miss real food when we're not near any planets. Oh, and maybe some baking supplies? I wouldn't mind baking for everybody more often! It's just... really hard to make anything good with potato flakes and, um, gel.

its definitely not a compliment
Re: video
What does it take to make one of those rods?

playersAtroma.]We could see what they have that's preserved too, and would keep on board. I'm sure pickled vegetables or dried meats have to be a thing given the technology. We could maybe look into building a pantry for extra stores, keep trying to resupply when we reach systems.
Make me a list of baking supplies you want and I'll see what I can do.
no subject
Sounds kind of scary... I'd tell you to be careful, but if you track bad guys anyway, then you're probably careful anyway!

[ Aaand, out comes her network device! She starts typing a list - while also continuing their conversation, because multitasking is how her brain works these days... for better or worse. ]
I wouldn't mind helping to build a pantry, and I bet the rest of the crew would help too, if we asked. And pickled vegetables are pretty good! Dried meats can be a little strange sometimes, but I know a few alchemy recipes that can help those taste better, too.

[ Escha... ]
Oh, I use an alchemy recipe. It calls for golden thread, at least two types of local stone, and some basic neutralizers to draw out the properties. The rest is just fine tuning from there.

especially monster things
dont wanna get chewed on you know?

[Look, multitasking is an important skill! Certainly one that gets no ill judgement from the man who doesn’t trust his own brain more often than not.]
It might be a good thing to ask. I’m sure we could all use a project for when we’re in the Drift, if nothing else. Between building, then sorting and labeling things, there’s something for everyone to do.
[And the tasks wouldn’t have to require a lot of personal they want to keep to themselves. Bucky’s certainly guilty of that.]

True, there will be a lot to do and to organize... But I'm pretty excited for the result!
[ She also finishes her list of baking supplies, and sends it to him via text with attachment! It's a pretty basic list: flour, sugar salt, yeast... Except she also lists "noble berry, or something like it". That's really the only weird one. ]
And, sent! Hopefully that's not too much to ask...
video;;
But sure! I'd love to go, it sounds like fun! Are you heading there right now?
video;;
I've been wandering around town, mostly. Whenever you want to go, I'm ready.

I'm sure some would argue that making the ship more comfortable is giving up on the idea of getting back to the places we came, but I see no ill in it.
[He pulls out his own device, scanning the list. It seems all pretty straightforward, until the berry part of things, and he frowns.]
Most of this should be easy enough to find... but what's a 'noble berry'?

im fond of not having teeth marks in me

Okay. In that case, I'll be right there! Just send me your location. What are we hunting? Any idea yet?
[ She starts gathering a few things and stuffing them in a bag. ]

[ At his question, she smiles a little sheepishly. ]
Ah! Sorry, that must be only from my world...
[ She grabs a notebook, flips to a clean page, and picks up the nearest pen to start drawing... what looks like a strawberry! Without the seeds on the outside, though. And she shades it in. ]
It looks kind of like this! Except it's sort of a purple-red color, and this pen is black... But anyway! If they have something like it, I can bake us something really great tonight! And if I still have some left over, I can use it in healing salves or elixirs, too. But if they don't have anything like it, that's okay! It would just be extra.
no subject
I have plenty right now, you can just take some! It's fine! But if you happen to see any good quality stones, or some gold thread, I'd be really thankful if you could bring me some.
Don't go out of your way, though! It's definitely not a requirement!
no subject
[It's definitely a perk of having a small crew, he thinks.]
Maybe, maybe not. Could just be something I haven't encountered yet. [Strawberries he does know though, and hopefully it won't be too hard to find an equivalent on the planet. True that it's not a necessity, but they may as well enjoy fresh food while they can.] I'll see what I can find, I can message you from whatever passes for a market down there. And anything that can be used for healing could end up being important.
no subject
I'll be by in a little while to grab one.
