I think I'm going to go ahead and have a look at this new planet. The last was a bit plain for my tastes but I suppose I'd already gotten used to a more advanced lifestyle after Riverview and now all of this.

I certainly encourage anyone to join me if they like.

In general though, he won't be spending any time topside because of allergies, he'll be very taken by VR gaming and a bit of shopping, he is a teenager after all, and also spending a little time in the water park. As long as it doesn't require swimming, of course!]

[He still has that hand and he's not going to release it so easily, though if Ciel wants to try and jerk away, he certainly could.]

Oh, no you won't. I'm coming in after you. Come on now. [He pulls the hand, leading the boy closer to the edge.] In you go.

[He's not trying. He knows it won't work.]

I'm not sure I want to- [When then he's pulled up closer to the edge and he does try taking a step back.] Plenty of time to sink, you know?

[All the better. But now that he has Ciel near the edge, life preserver and all in the waiting, even with all of the coaxing and reassuring, he has to wonder.]

My lord, it isn't as if I'm about to pierce your heart with my scythe. [He sighs and takes a step closer to the boy, holding the one hand in both of his, quieting his voice.] I learned how to swim when my father took me to the lake one day and threw me from the end of the dock, where the water was so deep I couldn't hope to touch the bottom. I was seven. Scared me half to death. He told me to swim back to shore and waited for me there. I wasn't strong enough then to pull myself back up on the dock, so I had no choice.

[He pats that hand.] I'm not going to do that to you. I said I would be there with you and so I will. Now. Do I have to give you a little push?

[He wonders if that might be less terrifying than trying to dive into the water. And he can't help but look up in shock at the reaper at that revelation, eye practically begging not to do that to him.

And yet... he practically tries to back up against Undertaker. He'd spent his life avoiding situations that required swimming, and he can't help but think how cold the Atlantic was. How it had felt like pins and needles stabbing into his limbs while simultaneously going numb.]

How is a push much different?

[He has no intention of doing to Ciel what his own father did to him. No, that won't happen. But the Earl will see deep water today, and he'll learn at least how to keep himself afloat.]

[Ciel's backing to him gives him a perfect opportunity to settle both hands on those small shoulders.]

Much different than a scythe to your heart? My lord, you wound me. The difference is that you will not die.

[And give him a little shove, he does.]

[He almost mumbles 'At least it's quick' but that little shove is a surprise after all his muttering and moping and resistance. And forwards he goes-

right into the water with a small splash followed by frantic flailing as the initial panic hits.]

Undertaker!

[There's not a moment's hesitation before he hops in after the boy, taking a leap out to the side so he'll cleanly miss Ciel on the way in. He's already reaching out for the boy before he surfaces, shaking hair and water from his face.]

Treat your hands as paddles, milord. Don't fight the water, use it.

_{[ Kirk ahd been enjoying the waters, such as they were - taking time away from the shuttles and the chance to really stretch his limbs and work his muscles. Activity was so very important in this kind of lifestyle. He had caught sight of Ciel and the Undertaker, curious to the look of the interaction but not seeing anything to be concerned over.

Until Undertaker tossed the poor boy right into the water. Water that Ciel is clearly was not accustomed to from the flailing.

He pushed off from his position, hurrying towards Ciel, pulling up when Undertake jumps in after the boy. ]}

Are you mad?!

[He continues to flail and panic, head going under for a moment before he gets himself up a bit, reaching desperately for the nearest body.

At first, his vision is a little blurry as he blinks the water away and he's coughing a bit, so he misses that Kirk has joined them and only catches the end: "-mad?!"]

Wasn't- [KOFF] fair!

[Ciel might sink for a moment, but he isn't going to let the boy stay there. It never had been his intention to let the boy struggle his way back to shore the way he'd had to learn. Once he's in the water, he has hands on the Earl to pull him close, put his chest to the boy's shoulder so he can't cling too much, arm about his waist.]

[All before he addresses the man screaming at him.]

I'm sure they'll say I am. [Then, to Ciel.] You're okay, milord. Relax a moment and breathe. I have you.

_{[ He would say he wasn't screaming so much as loudly protesting this particular teaching method. A good way to traumatize a child. He chose to ignore the strange man currently hugging Ciel, and focused on the boy. ]}

Ciel, are you okay?

[He continues to cling for a moment and coughs again, looking between Undertaker and Jim before he nods.] Don't let go...

[His arms stayed wrapped around the reaper but he's relaxing. Slowly.]

I- I'm alright. [Definitely startled but alright.] Undertaker wouldn't hurt me on purpose.

[True to his word, he keeps an arm around Ciel, holding the boy securely while he treads the water and keeps their heads above the surface.]

You're fine. Get your breath back and we'll start this off proper.

[He looks back up to the man on the dock.] You there, you seem like you're at least willing to keep my lord safe. Care to lend a hand?

_{[ He looked back at the Undertaker, unimpressed with the man. ]}

Are we both in agreement that we are not going to just toss a child who cannot swim into the water again?

[He continues to cling but his grasp does loosen a little as he relaxes. His trust in Undertaker, he hopes, will calm Jim's ire.]

I'm already in... I think we're safe. [He can't help but be the tiniest bit grumbly about that though. Even as his cheeks color in embarrassment at Undertaker's request of him.]

Ah- h-help..? R-really?

[He grins and turns himself around with Ciel, backing them a little away from the dock to invite the man on in.]

Quite. As he said, he's already in the water. No need to toss him in again. We'll just give him a bit of practice, let him swim back and forth between us. What say you?

_{[ Kirk made a grunting noise that said he wasn't quite on board with Undertaker's methods, but Ciel didn't seem particularly scared of the man either - he seemed attached if anything. He shifted to move into position not to far from Undertaker, but enough that Ciel would need to take a few strokes to get to him. ]}

Do you know how to float on your back, Ciel? We should start with that and have you go between me and your... friend before you turn over onto your stomach.

_{[ He had no idea who the other man was, after all. ]}

[He looks almost longingly at the dock, as if there's some hope of an intervention that would get him out of the water. Except then Kirk agrees. He knows he's too old to be whining, but he can't help a little sound of dismay.]

The only time I've been in the water was went the Campania sank. I have a life preserver then. [So... he definitely doesn't know how to float.] My parents and the servants never taught me.

[He knows Kirk isn't pleased with him and he doesn't blame the man. But really, he's trying to help!]

[He's too close to the boy to not have heard that whine. It gets a soft chuckle from him and he reaches up to tap a fingernail to the end of Ciel's nose.]

Yes, and you've got two of them now, and we're not going to let anything bad happen. Come on, then. Give it a go. You might find you like it.

And it’s important. Floating on your back is a good thing to accomplish today. If you call in water again another time, you’ll know how to turn over and float rather than flail. And it’s rather relaxing.

_{[ He motioned for Undertaker to move his arms to support Ciel. ]}

Just turn your body so you’re facing up and relax - don’t fight the water. You might need to tuck your butt in if your hips dip to low, but otherwise let the water do the work.

[There's a little grumble but there's not much he can say to argue against that logic. With both of them there, his chances of drowning were slim, and the water wasn't so cold as the last time he'd been in the water.]

I suppose...

[He keeps a hand on Undertaker but he tries to do just that, mumbling something about 'how is he supposed to not fight the water?" as he tries to float. With mild success before he has a moment of panic.]

[That gets a giggle out of him, but he has a hand on the back of Ciel's head as he makes his attempts at floating. The boy isn't going to drown.]

Steady there, milord. Just breathe, use your hands as paddles.

Think of it as lying down in bed. You don't fight the bed, you jut lay down. Just relax and don't think to bad about what your body is doing. Go almost limp. You had it for just a second or two there, so it was a good start.

_{[ He waded closer in the water to help, giving Ciel an encouraging smile. ]}

Your friend and I are right here, so you'll be fine.

[There's a faint mumble of:] I hate this...

[Really, does he have to learn to swim? Couldn't he just avoid the water besides rain and baths? How necessary could this be? Until he went on the Campania, he'd successfully avoided large bodies of water for thirteen years.]

It doesn't feel so easy. [He'll try though. If only because Undertaker is there at his head and Kirk moves closer. At worst, he'll choke on a bit of water. At best, he'll successfully float.

And he does but not without his breath getting shaky.]

[Don't think he didn't hear that. Because he did. And his hand is still on the back of the boy's head, and two fingers give that scalp a light scritch when he hears those shaky breaths.]

Just think of how much fun this is going to be when you're the one tossing me into the water next.
