Round Two
[after Beau's stint in addressing the fleet for a month, and then a mysterious lack of any broadcast at all last week, this week plays out a little differently. it is a return to the familiar, but with a small alteration.
today, an entirely new little jingle rings out through the speakers. it's jazzy, it's hip, and it even has a charming 'whoosh' sound effect rounding out the end of it. someone, somewhere, is probably very proud of it.
and Diamond finally makes her return. her voice is... perhaps not quite as manically pleased as it had been in those weeks leading up to the strange attacks, but still chipper nonetheless. instead of exuding glee, her tone is bright, quick, and sharp--almost to the point of being overwound.]
Good morning, passengers! I hope you haven't missed me too badly. I know I sure have missed you. But, everyone needs a little vacation at some point, right? Sometimes, you just... need to get away. Get your head cleared.
Just a little change of scenery. I'm sure you all understand.
[and she clears her throat, hurrying along.]
Things really have been changing around here, haven't they? ...Goodness! So many new faces, and all of these new ships. It's a good thing they're so comfortable, otherwise you might be feeling a little crowded right now, hmm? Don't you worry about that, though.
There isn't a thing to worry about. Every little hiccup is being taken care of.
[and as she shuffles her papers, and no audience--canned or otherwise--makes a sound in the background, the few extra seconds of silence seem to stretch before she moves on.]
And now, onto the shuffle! Not too many new faces this round, it seems. Just enough to snug on into the few empty cots remaining. And I see a few officers changing hats, but nothing too momentous.
Everything is nice and calm, shifting gears a bit, getting ready to boldly move on to what lies ahead.
Keep up the good work, dear passengers! ...The worlds are watching!

Hey! You brought me here like, two days ago, but you forgot my dog! His name's Osiris, he's really friendly and really dumb, and I am afraid you are going to have to go get him for me!
[ she's not going to be too surprised if no one answers. she will, however, be a little embarrassed if anyone on the SS Vanquish catches her shouting. ]
