[sometime in the evening, shortly after dinner, a grinning elven face (with brand new crazy bluish hair) appears over the network. the camera is unsteady, bouncing all over as he shuffles his grip on it.]

Guys! Hey, guys... did you know that there is a tattoo place here? And it's, like... right next door to this bar where everything looks like it's covered in gold? And... there's a place to dance...

[and--ah--he finally gets the communicator turned all the way from his face, so it can swing around to show clumsy shots of all the places he's mentioning. lots of light and sound, it looks like a party.

and eventually, the camera jostles around to show his face again, and he looks so excited.]

--Hey! We should totally all get tattoos! It'll be awesome!

[and anyone who heads down to meet him, or just happens to be walking through this section of the station, can find Nel either bopping around the waiting area of the tattoo parlor, or hanging out in the bar next door, looking over a free handout of tattoo designs.

Ooo! [--he says while he's still leaning in to look at the design, before he actually sees what it is.

...and to his credit, he only falters a little bit when he does see it. he hesitates, but he's still smiling when he looks up from the pamphlet again.]

...The meat?

You would look great with more piercings.

[charming smile here.] You'd totally pull it off.

[--he so won't, though. the promise is forgotten immediately.

he'll be in the bar.]

Don't laugh! I'm serious...

[he whines a little as he slumps forward over the bar, but he's laughing too.]

[and by the way the elf is dressed like a perfect club kid, he'd probably love some time on the dancefloor.

though, the bar currently has his attention. tattoo pamphlet in one hand and a drink in the other, he swivels his seat around when he hears the voice in his direction, and his new friend gets a big smile.]

Oh, hey! You're here!

[He grins a little at the enthusiasm-- man, he remembers being that young and excited about a lot of things.]

Sure am. It's nice to meet you-- Ray Kowalski.

[ When she gets there and doesn't see the pointy-eared, blue-headed child she's looking for, she does eventually head to the bar he mentioned. Lo and behold! ]

Ah, there you are. I did not believe the line extended this far.

[Nel you had one job and that was to prevent this. You failed. ]

Heck yeah the meat! I love meat!

No, really, I'm serious. You should get it.

[Adachi tries to look as sincere as he possibly can after his little laughing fit.]

[whoever put him in charge of that job was a fool.

he does think it's funny, though, for a couple of reasons. he presses a few curled fingers to his mouth, to hold back a laugh.]

...If you love it, why don't you put a heart around it too?

--Huh?

[there's that lag after he looks over toward the voice, while he recognizes the person, is re-fascinated with the ears, and tries to remember what they'd been last talking about, all at once.

and he then grins and gets a little sheepish when it clicks.]

Oh... yeah, they said the wait was going to be a while, so I just... went to get a drink. [and got totally distracted.]

No! You think it's dumb, I can tell...

[but he is also still laughing, and now hamming it up a little because--look!--someone thinks he's funny!]

You don't think it would work on me? [and he does a little flaunting wiggle in his seat, looking as cute as possible.]

[if there is anyone who can manufacture a bounty of enthusiasm for nearly anything, it's Nel. and the drink he's holding is at least one factor helping this phenomenon along.]

Ray! Nice to meet you too-- I'm Nel.

[and he holds out the pamphlet] Want to look at the designs? There are some crazy ones in here.

[He decides to sit down-- keep the kid seated longer, maybe get him even drunker, he won't have the energy to object to not getting a tattoo anymore.]

Sure, lemme see 'em. [He takes the pamphlet and snorts when he sees some of the designs.]

It has gotta be illegal to have that on your body. Hey, I got a little tattoo of my own, wanna see?

Wow, that's even better. Thanks, man!

[He's going off towards the counter to book an appointment, THANKS SO MUCH NEL. ]

[ She shakes her head and allows a laugh for the distraction. This boy doesn't seem all that... there... and she notices the attention on her head. Her ears flicker as if in response and she shrugs. ]

It is no matter. Were you interested in coming along to get a tattoo for yourself? As such, would you care to join me in the wait?

[his eyebrows raise in veiled delight when her ears move, but he doesn't ask about them just yet. he'll just remain politely half-distracted for now.

and oh you better believe the drink in his hand is helping with that whole being distracted thing.]

Oh, yeah, I'm totally getting one. I just haven't decided what I want yet.

[he picks the pamphlet of designs he'd been looking at up off the bartop and holds it out.]

You want to look for ideas, or do you know what you're getting already?

I've already an idea for the design I would like.

[ It's one personal to her and important to convey correctly, though she does glance down to the pamphlet in curiosity. ]

What sort of designs are you interested in?

[Okay, the wiggling and giggling was definitely a little weird, but Adachi just kind of ignores it for the moment.]

Hey, if it's something you really want to get permanently emblazoned on your body, then who am I to stand in your way?

I... [He blinks for a moment before smiling gently.] Thank you. I like it a great deal myself.

Wow, sometimes face tattoos look really weird, but that looks great!

[so much tact. so much.]

Do you have any others?

[yeah... it's best to just let him do his thing and move on. he gets distracted from the act in a moment, anyway.]

I still can't decide, really. ...Do you have any good ideas?

Oh, I don't know yet. I was thinking of getting just a word or something, but some of the designs in here are pretty cool.

[like what seems to be an ostrich riding something like a motorcycle, for instance.]

What are you going to get?

[well, he certainly isn't going to object to getting drunker--especially if someone else is buying. he's already sizing up his new friend to try and guess at his chances of being able to mooch off him a little bit. so, maybe the plan has a chance.]

Oh, yeah! Where's it at?

Just here. [He twists on his stool after signalling the barman for another round, then bunches up his right t-shirt sleeve. There's a tattoo there of a Champion Spark Plug, faded but still bold enough.]
