[As we all know, Atroma adores catching the “real life” moments of its contestants. That’s really the only explanation for why there’s video footage of a sleeping man on the network.

More specifically, a sleeping version of your resident elven prince, looking not-so-princely. It turns out that all those flowing golden locks make for some magnificent bed hair when you’ve been suspended in cryosleep for a few weeks.

But, lo! Sleeping Beauty stirs! Finrod groans and sits up, blinking his way to wakefulness and running his hand through that mane of golden hair. Then he turns, picks up his communicator, and looks at the date.

There’s a loud exclamation of surprise given in Quenya, followed by:] Weeks!

[Yeah, you…might want to let him know he’s being recorded.]

Later in the Week/Action for a Casino waystation

[Having cleaned up considerably and had time to explore the waystations (and the planet, but that’s another story) a bit, Finrod looks much more himself. He’s even indulged in a bit of gambling and had some luck at it.

He inserts his voucher into the prize the machine, not really expecting anything substantial. His eyebrows raise immediately when the glimmer of gold comes from machine- and his jaw practically drops when he reaches down and discovers just what he has been given.

A necklace. But not just any necklace- a gift he was given by the dwarves, crafted of gold and jewels. A beautiful, ostentatious, weighty thing- and he is glad to have it back in his hands. With a smile, he clasps it around his neck. It’s a fair bet that he’s not going to be taking it off any time soon.]

I am glad to know I was missed. I must confess, I am at something of a loss; it is not every day that one awakes to find several weeks have passed.

[A little groan] Congratulations on yours. I assume these past weeks have not been without challenges.

I can imagine. How are you feeling, other than somewhat disoriented? I don't know the reason, but Atroma has been forcing some fleet members into a deep sleep. I recently checked on someone on the Caprine who was asleep as well... medically, she is fine, but naturally her friends were worried.

Yeah, you've been out a while. Surprised you didn't wake up at all the drilling and sound testing, but I think that was kind of the point.

It's not like I can die, anyway. But it's not been all that bad.

[There is something a little satisfying seeing Finrod so disheveled. But you didn't hear that from Cassandra.]

Repairs have gone well, then? I assume you have been hard at work.

[Have a sheepish little laugh] You must tell me. Is it morning? I am afraid I have lost track.

Admittedly, I do so myself on the ships. It is hard to tell day and night when there is no sun to set or rise. But I think it is still morning, yes.

[And now Finrod's secret is out; it's not all effortless.]

So I am. And more than a bit alarmed at the length of my rest, in all honesty.

You cannot die? [That's a nifty trick. He's known a few basically that powerful and they were... well. Not lazy asses. THIS IS VERY ODD]

I feel fine- as if nothing unusual had occurred. Are things such as this possible were you are from? I have heard of enchantments which have something of the same effect or which may cause a person to lose time, but I believe I would know, had that been the cause. [Science. Is this a likely a science a thing is what he's asking.]

[A brief self-conscious smile crosses her face. She isn't always very good at turning off the doctor thing. But then she looks a little relieved at his words. Maybe knowing that Finrod came out of his sleep okay will reassure Ladon.]

Yes, we can put people into stasis - basically a deep sleep, like what you have experienced - usually for medical reasons, though sometimes it has been used for long-term deep space missions. I have used it myself in the past to preserve a patient's life until I have access to the appropriate medical equipment I need to treat them. However, I'm at a loss as to why you have been put in stasis when you are perfectly healthy.

Not really. Not without some complex work. I'm immortal, for the large part.

To me? No, though I have been told of others on the fleet suffering similar maladies. And there are enchantments which may do such things, of course, but I believe I would know, were that the cause.

[Honestly, he would be more surprised if she were good at turning it off. He hasn't met many in that sort of profession who are.]

I am at a loss for why Atroma does much of what they do. But I suppose that I should be grateful that I am no worse for wear.

That's true. I'm glad you're alright. If.... you do experience any problems, however, would you let me know?
