How do mortals know what you're feeling? Varric used to tell me what it was, or Jove, or Solas, but they're gone and now I don't know what these feelings are. I can tell how to help other people and how to navigate their hurts but I can't do it with my own.

[He gives a small sigh and looks off somewhere. A fluff slug climbs over the communicator screen.]

[There's the distinct sound of a canine sniffing nearby when the feed turns on. Anyone with an acute ear may also hear a different kind of sound, something akin to snuffling. The animal causing it is revealed a moment later. To those not from Thedas, it looks like a pink, hairless mole. But any Thedosian would know that it's a nug.

The camera pans over to Riona, who's feeding said nug while Kiter cautiously sniffs at the other animal. She shakes her head.]

A favor for a favor, I suppose. Sister Nightingale has fallen into one of those comas. For the time being, Schmooples here is in my care. If you were expecting to see her in the interfaith center, I'm afraid it'll have to wait. [She looks over at her puppy, smiling conspiratorially.] You and I will be brainstorming what to draw on her face. Tit for tat, too.

[When she looks back at the camera, her smile falters, and pronounced concern sets in its place.]

Also, Dr. Beverly Crusher seems to be missing. Normally I'd suspect she's gone home, but her things are still here and her name still shows up on the communication device. Something is amiss. If anyone has seen her the past few days, please do let me or any of the crew on the Blue Fish know.

[Her disappearance puzzles her, along with her obvious worry. It's not like Beverly to do that, and with them having left the planet, there are only so many places she could be.]

Those matters aside, we've now returned to the dull void of space and to confinement in our ships until we make land again. There's only so much to entertain in the fleet, especially when you've been here awhile. Recently, I returned home for a few months. Here only a handful of days passed, but it felt much longer. I find myself feeling a bit homesick. So, I have a request.

[She pauses, uncertainty flitting across her face. For a moment she glances down, and finds herself fiddling with her wedding ring, which she's recently gone back to wearing on her hand. She clasps her hands together and looks back at the camera.]

But first, I suppose I should introduce myself to those who don't know me. My name is Riona Cousland [And here there's the slightest pause, a moment of hesitation. She swallows the trepidation back.] Theirin. I've been here nearly eight months.

[Whatever caused her hesitation seems to have passed. She relaxes, and continues:]

In my time, I've heard quite a few things about people's worlds. Comparing them to Thedas - where I am from - always interests me. I love hearing stories, and I'm always happy to share ones from my world, in particular the ones of my home country.

So. Let's do an exchange. A tale for a tale. It can be anything you experienced, or perhaps a legend or fable from your world that you're fond of. And I will tell you one in return. Simple enough, and a good way to pass the evening, no?

[She smiles, wiggling her fingers in good-bye before shutting off the feed.]

[Renart does not want to be here. Sure, being out in space has to be a step up from that post-apocalyptic wasteland. Space is one of the few places she's never actually been to before, and since she's always wanted to she should be thrilled.

But there are important people back in that stupid wasteland. Ones that are liable to get into dangerous, possibly deadly situations without her there to keep them safe. She's hoping they've been pulled here too. Finding out is her main priority as she fiddles with her communicator, eventually figuring out how to send a quick message to the network at large.]

Pathstone - Crowley's quarters (& elsewhere?)

[Felix opens his eyes and finds himself staring up at dark metal walls. While the transition is somewhat jarring, there's not the same kind of panic as the first time he'd gone home in his sleep and woke up here. The difference this time is in emotion. The previous times he's been on the heels of pain, fear, and anxiety. Lingering questions about what would happen to him and his brother next. There is certainly apprehension, but the questions don't carry the same mortal weight as they had in the past. His future was no more certain than any person's, to be sure, but this time there felt like a reasonable chance that he could, in fact, have a chance.

Slowly, he sits up in bed, wincing at the ache in his muscles. He isn't sure how long he's been sleeping this time, but he gets the sense - beyond the physical - that it's been awhile. Worry about that fact fizzles in the wake of his next thought: This isn't his room. It's Crowley's. There's a wave of relief that he still remembers the name and that there's still recognizable signs of the demon habitation. Enough to make his heart jump just a little in the very opposite of fear.

He takes his time collecting himself, waiting to see if Crowley will be coming back to his room any time soon. Measuring time is impossible and irrelevant. Regardless of whether or not the demon returns, he will eventually leave the room. First order of business was a shower, which was particularly needed after two weeks of being bedridden, but after that a trip to the kitchen would be in order.]

So I noticed on the list of scheduled lectures posted a bit ago that there are several on magic, not to mention several people I've spoken with having positive or relaxed reactions to its use. It's incredibly strange to me that everyone is so open and accepting of this, considering the doctrine regarding magic in my home of Thedas, so it begs the following question and I hope at least someone from outside of Thedas will indulge me:

What is magic like on your world? Is it regulated? Does everyone have the ability to use it, or only a small number of people? Are there prejudices that go along with that.

Ah, well, I suppose that's more than one question. Still, if you're willing to talk about it, please feel free to respond to this post and I'll get back to you when I'm finished with work. Thank you!

It's only a short walk from the hanger to the bar, but Adalwolfe takes his time since he can't watch where he's going very well as he's recording on his device. Which could lead to all kinds of problems. He seems to be avoiding walls okay, but if a person, say, came out of a corridor nearby or happened to step in front of him at just the right time before he put down the little screen, he might just bowl right into them, or walk right past without noticing a mischievous foot out for him to trip over. Honestly, he's an open target. Or at least seems like it...

He visits other ships. Sometimes he put the Pathstone alongside to visit and sometimes he takes a shuttle, but he's constantly wandering all over the fleet, being with people, circulating.

He hasn't done it in a while. He got a nasty fright and went into hiding for a while.

But the creepy psychic being is back! Sticking his large nose into all the business.]

[By the second week she starts making dolls. Simplistic blue yarn dolls at the base. It's just something to do with her hands and mind at first. Then she makes one in which her blue wool is dipped sporadically into black ink as she makes it, so the doll looks rather like it got thrown in a tar puddle when she's done. She attaches five or six pieces of loose, spattered wool to its shoulders, closes her eyes, and blows gently on its darkened face.

Don't ask why she does creepy things.

Then she stares at her little collection, swallows... and goes to watch Princess Bride instead. It's video courage! (Which small children have to make do with instead of liquid courage.) Which leads to this post on the network twenty minutes in, very grumpily:]

If we're in space and everything's so very future and all, why don't we even have television? [Petulant, pale child alert. Please ignore the spattered bits of ink on her chin.] Aren't we allowed to watch alien TV?

[When the feed opens, the first thing seen is an empty bed. It's been slept in somewhat recently, you can see the mess the owner's left it in, but the owner himself is nowhere in sight--at least until someone picks the communicator up.

Congrats, folks, it's a new month and one of the first things you get to see is Jon Snow's deeply annoyed frown, framed by a shot of the--ceiling?]

And here I thought this fleet couldn't surprise me anymore. [From his exasperated tone, it's probably immediately obvious just what he thinks about this little surprise.] I hadn't been told anything like this would happen. Does it usually?

[And he turns the camera down towards his feet, which, currently, are floating a few feet off the ground. He pulls the camera back up towards his face, which is wearing an expression of utter annoyance.]

And when can I get back down?

[The feed ends right there, but curious souls can find Jon floating grumpily or trying to ineffectually steer himself along the corridors of the Three Twins! Looks like he's just gotten his first taste of an augment malfunction, and it's just made him immune to the ship's gravity drive.

What a lucky bastard.]

[The tone of voice he was using was higher and probably sounded a little ridiculous.]

[But there was definite concern in his tone as the man searched for his missing kitten.
At least until his step staggers and then stops and there's a catch in his breathing that could nearly be called a gasp.]

[Max seems to be in a bad way this week.

Not a 'distant' kind of way, not avoidance because of skittishness, or his own inner demons wrestling with him. It's not one of those rather dreary episodes.

No, Max is — just even more easy to annoy and even more temperamental than usual. It all begins Monday: he sits in the cargo bay with The Dog, AKA Rock, who is still on casual bed-rest with his thin furry leg in a cast. The dog huffs and Max matches the sound himself, massaging his temples like something is burrowing into the bone there. Headache, perhaps? His crew will probably notice it first. Any attempt to talk to him will leave people, even those he's more patient around, with a cold shoulder of sorts or a shorter fuse on conversation than usual. He doesn't talk much (even compared to usual), sort of has a hard time concentrating, replies sharply and then is gone just as fast with a miserable scowl on his face.

Be so careful approaching him, guys.

He's probably gonna aggravate you as much as you're gonna aggravate him.

In the kitchen, he seems to have switched over to the room temperature liquid foods — nothing solid, and he spoons it with a completely unhappy look on his face. Sloshes it around, grumbles at it, and finishes the bowl when his stomach gurgles to urge him on. Whatever it is that is clearly bothering him (it's getting more and more transparent), he can barely focus sometimes. He paces instead. And then he leaves the ship, ignoring the gumball thing entirely. The thought of chewing on those makes him want to bash his head into a wall; meanwhile, his jaw throbs painfully, like a heartbeat. Thump-thump-thump.

His fingers move to prod the back of his mouth as he digs at the culprit of his bad attitude, but it ends with him cursing aloud in the cargo bay, an echo of a sailor's mouth. Not PG-13, kiddies. Max apparently knows some super special no-no words. Excavating the root of his issue leaves nothing for results.

Max goes to the bars on the Iskaulit, because that's where people go when they're not happy and need a drink for it, and—]

.... Nothing cold.

[Yes, bartender, give him his lukewarm booze. Thank you. This guy can hold guzzoline in his mouth; he can handle bland, iceless liquor.

He meanwhile scrubs at his cheek as he sips and finally makes an exception to his drinking limit; not enough to get him drunk, of course, but enough to numb his gums a little. If not that, then he'll just have to medicate himself later. At any rate, maybe he's a familiar figure hunkered over his glass. Or maybe you want to to know why there's someone who hisses and flinches like something bit him. every time he massages his jaw. Either way, forced company will do him some good.

He also visits the Iskaulit garden here, and... then he looks around to see if anyone's going to catch him. Looks all clear. He moves to swipe whatever vegetable is easiest to squish down in a bowl to eat. It's good for you. Vitamins, and all that. Nobody will miss these, right? It's like old times, when he used to pilfer from the gardens aboard another ship from another world, which feels like a blink ago.

The SS Starstruck finally has a medical bay (thanks, Lauralae), so he moves to find some decent painkillers in there, too. Which is good, because... The longer he's gone on to ignore this... the worse it's getting. It's not much of a plot twist by now, is it? Nah. It's a broken molar, a tooth fractured and now officially infected thanks to certain giant behemoth smegs in his world throwing him around and trying to beat his head in.

He lays in the shuttle with the chair tipped back, arm over his eyes.

... Maybe he should find some decent pliers and go for it.

[ The feed opens on what appears to be nothing more than a nest of darkness, shifting only when the figure that owns it shifts. It turns out to be dark, matted hair, sticking to pale skin and only separating through small slits as gloved fingers move and press the stands away - both sweat and blood bead against her face and she sits up, breathing out hard and pushing herself away from the bed with a quick, jerking motion, as if afraid of her own shadow. Her fingers shake and her skin pale and marred, streaks of blood decorating her like an artist's paintbrush against a scarred canvas.

It takes her a little while, but she finally pushes herself up. There is silence for a moment, only broken by the sound of her heavy breathing, until her hands reach out and pick up the device. The feed itself shakes with her fingertips, almost more bone than flesh, until she speaks, voice low and hoarse, exhausted. ]

Where am I.

[ Anyone currently on board the Marsiva will find her on the same bed she had woken up on, surrounded by what seems to be a circle of red with her legs tucked under her - what, exactly, she had been doing was a matter worth debating, but she seemed fit to faint under the weight of nothing sooner than she would be fit to explain anything. ]
