[ when gideon wakes she's--well. more than a little confused. this is the first time ever she's not been connected to the waverider and it's disorienting. it takes her a minute of sitting in her room to figure out just what's wrong and why she feels like she has a stone resting in her stomach, but when she does she's a little peeved, honestly. she rifles around the room, finding her communicator but nothing else of note. unless you count the absolutely ridiculous throw blanket that she wraps around her shoulders.

gideon is, first and foremost, a computer so it's the communicator she's drawn to first. she spends a not insignificant amount of time flipping through it and figuring out what she can. once she's sort of got her bearings, she makes a network post of her own (see below) and then determines that exploring is a great idea.

as such, she can be found very curiously wandering barefoot through all the parts of the ship she can get into, occasionally pausing to simply touch things--walls, doors, furniture--with a slight frown on her face. and, yes, all the while she has the ugly as sin flamingo blanket with her. ]

( voice. )

[ the voice that comes through is surprisingly pleasant, all things considered, though there's a hint of testiness lurking behind the words. ]

I'm given to understand that this rather elaborate kidnapping has taken place because of a reality show, correct? One which we are all unwilling participants in. I'd like to know more about how this is broadcast, if anyone has that information. [ augh, having to ask for information instead of just looking it up is really unexpectedly annoying.

she pauses. ] I would also like to speak with anyone familiar with the Waverider or her crew.

Calibration Post 1, "Daytime"

[ Not long after the shuffle, there's a ripple of static over the network - loud, sudden, and seemingly with no origin. It's puzzling, but there's no indication that it's going to happen again...

Until a minute later. Another surge of static comes in over the speakers, and then a voice - one some may find familiar, though not necessarily welcome, after all of this time... It's Diamond. Long time no speak, hmm?

Clearly, not all is well. She sounds very far away, for one. For another, she sounds... skeptical, almost alarmed. There may actually be real concern in her voice. ]

Again? Twice in one c--

[ Her sentence is cut short with a strangled gasp, followed by a moment of silence. What follows may be the sound of metal dragged across metal, but it's hard to place. When she speaks again, it's uncharacteristically monotonous. ]

... Bring them in.

[ A blip of lost time passes right after those words, before every passenger mysteriously wakes alone in their own unfamiliar room. The style of decor resembles that of the Marsiva's Hospitality Deck, if any passengers should remember what that's like. It sounds and smells the same as the host ship as well, all clean and chrome, but this set of rooms has only been used once, and for the very same purpose that befalls the fleet contestants now.

As for their hosts, there is no immediate sign of them, though some may recall a series of hideous, half-electronic screams before their memories begin to blur upon arrival...

[ another month; another mingle. but there are changes in the air! the starstruck has some fresh crew to boast of, as well as a spiffing new lounge. things have been difficult, lately -- the common area might make for a great place to decompress and socialize with your fellow starstruckers.

[Passengers on the may have gotten brushed past by a burst of wind and a flash of red and gold lightning earlier in the day, but Barry isn’t stopping for anyone, unfortunately. As wide and expansive as the ship is, there isn’t really enough room for him to build up enough speed to do anything, and he doesn’t know what it is that Savitar did, but he can’t be stuck here. Not with what’s coming. Not with what he just saw.

But eventually in futility comes acceptance, and he decides that if he’s going to be stuck here, he might as well play along. The young man that appears on the screen looks flustered and disoriented from the get go, a clear expression of confusion and needing to be anywhere but here, larger problems weighing on his shoulders than there should be. He certainly doesn’t look happy to be here, but he’s trying to pull it together, if for no other reason than it’s clear he’s being watched.]

So, hey everybody. I’m Barry. I’m … new, I guess. I’m from Central City, if that means anything to anyone, and at home, I work – or worked – for the CCPD as a CSI.

[There’s a moment as he tries to figure out what to say next, before his eyes close and he loses it. To be fair, he lasted at least two minutes longer than he thought he would.]

Okay, wait, I can’t do this. Seriously? We’re stuck on some kind of space reality TV show and I’m just supposed to play nice and do whatever? No, I’m sorry, that’s a load of … crap.

[The frustrated way the word is forced out indicates that there’s another thing he really wanted to say there, but, you know, he’s on TV. And he doesn’t use those words. Usually.]

I never agreed to be a part of this, I didn’t sign a release or a contract or anything like that, so I want to go home. Now. Or I’ll force my way out.

[Barry … don’t do that. Please don’t be that dumb. And with that the transmission will just end because that is enough of that.]

[ the comm seems to be haphazardly leaning against something, and the image you get is crooked. a sleeping man, who almost instantly awakes with a start. no scream, mercifully, he's quite over screamer videos, and besides, it wouldn't really be that surprising under the circumstances, now, would it? his eyes dart around the room, his feet flying off the cot and touching the ground. the moment he speaks, his accent undeniably and unapologetically identifies him as an englishman. ]

Not again - [ he groans, looking around him. the first time he was knocked out and kidnapped happened because he was foolish, he trusted a friend when clearly he had overestimated the bond, bloody spies, he's had his fill of bloody spies. but this time - he has no idea what happened. one minute, he's in a pod, sailing to freedom and the next - he's in this bed. he must not have deactivated something. do they have a blasted tracker beam on these things? so paranoid! ] Oi, @therealshield, you forgot to paint your eagle - I'm gonna have to deduct your merits - [ no answer. the room really doesn't seem like anywhere his previous captors kept him in, and that's rarely a coincidence. he gets up, and the comm seems to slip off whatever it was leaning against and end up in a new position, one that shows the back of the man, as he walks towards a window. ] ...you have got to be joking.

[ and a moment later ] Bloody aliens!

[ the man comes in and out of the frame, as he's clearly examining his surroundings, before he heads back to check on what he's got by his cot, and notices the comm. picking it up, you now get a close up of his face - ] Little red light - you're either going to explode or - [ that sure looks like a camera, doesn't it? he holds it directly in front of his face. ]

Take me to your leader.

[No doubt it's a story that's been heard before: boy meets timeship, boy takes over protecting history after blowing up the people who used to do it, boy gets brainwashed (twice), boy gets rescued, boy is left to try and figure out who he even bloody is anymore. Yet for all the things that have not hold steadfast in Rip's life as of late, certain rules remain seemingly unbreakable. Chief among them (and most relevant, in this instance), is that nothing will ever go according to Rip Hunter's plan. It's rather unfair, really. He hasn't even decided what he intends to do, and now here he is, waking up in the middle of God-knows-where that's neither his jumpship nor the Waverider.

Bloody hell.

So he does as anyone might when they've apparently been kidnapped: goes for his gun. Of course it's not there, shock and surprise, leaving Rip patting his pockets and trying to figure out what, beyond an empty holster, he's been left with. Some personal items, what he had on him that he can last remember, but nothing resembling the weapons he suspects would be so terribly useful in this situation. Yet despite every indication that he's been stolen away against his will, Rip has also been granted a surprising amount of freedom. He doesn't seem to be locked within any one room, and the accommodations are cozier than most other brigs he's seen.

Not that it gives him any greater desire to stay there, mind. It's just worth noting. And now that he has noted it, Rip gets to work. Finding a communication panel is rather easy—perhaps distressingly so, if he thinks about it, so instead Rip sets about to trying to find a way to hail the Waverider, to figure out where he is, or when he is, or anything else at all that might be useful.

It goes about as well as can be expected—although he can send out a message, it's not going to go anyplace he wants it to. The transmission starts right about the time his shoulders sag with this realization, his eyes not focused on the camera but instead on whatever display is giving him the bad news. In the meantime, enjoy the view of a frustrated British guy wearing a long duster?]

…Bollocks [Oh, right, broadcasting. Rip finally looks towards the screen—towards whomever might be viewing this, trying to decide if it's even worth saying anything. He's got one hand braced against the wall, his finger tapping the surface impatiently before he decides that really, there's not much left to lose at this point anyway. It's not like the persons responsible don't already know he's there.]

Right, yes. And--hello, I suppose. [It's about as unhappy a greeting as one might expect, given the circumstances.] I'd apologize for being a bother, but since I've somehow been brought to this place entirely against my will, whoever's responsible just brought it upon themselves, haven't they?

I'll keep it short then. My name is Rip Hunter, and I would really. really, like to have a word with those in charge of—whatever this is. [No small operation, given the scale of it. Not only is the room itself impressively sized, but the technology is noteworthy. Automated, from a time seemingly closer to Rip's own than most he's been in lately. He rests a hand against the wall, leaning into his arm as he taps his fingers against the hard surface. If he's in a facility seemingly made to house so many—

Then perhaps he's not the only one to have found himself someplace new without explanation.] Or anyone else who might be able to offer answers, assuming there are others out there. Either way, you can probably guess what I want to know.

[What anyone would like to know when they've been taken prisoner, most likely. Rip gives the camera a final look, then ends the transmission.
