[People who've been around the fleet for awhile might recognize the video feed coming from the Blue Fish's lab. Allen's standing behind his usual table, standing a bit...stiffer, than usual. Timcanpy can be found in the background, where he seems to have acquired a small straw sun hat and is using some tinfoil as a tanning screen in front of a lamp]

Hello all. For those who don't know me, I'm Allen Walker, one of the medics aboard the SS Blue Fish. Just a couple things today.

First of all, the bi-monthly blood drive is going to take place next weekend aboard the Blue Fish! If you wish to donate please fill out the form attached to this video. [The form that can be found here] Anyone who donates can be paid in either money or food. If you're interested in volunteering or you have any questions, please contact me. Any vampiric volunteers will not be allowed to sample or work directly with the blood.

Second, while I'm sure many of you are enjoying your time on the warm beaches, please remember to wear sunscreen if you're going to be out there for a long period of time. [He grimaces a little, as if he learned that one the hard way] Also please make sure to keep yourself hydrated, watch out for storms, and use proper precautions if you're helping with the fungus problem.

Lastly, if you're looking for a way to earn money aside from donating blood, remember you can always donate medical supplies to the clinics! Prices will vary on supply and demand, but I'm willing to pay you in either credits or this planet's currency. Right now, I'm sure any sort of sunburn or hangover treatments would be very much appreciated. If you're a lab assistant interested in having supplies sent to your clinic, please let me know.

[He gives a wave, and the feed cuts out. When the feeds over, he gives a sigh of relief, flops down in his chair and starts...playing that game Crowley made for the network. Yep. That stupid addictive game.]

Blood drive, you said? [His mind's immediately wandering towards who could possibly benefit from it - and he's not liking those implications. Surely he and Elena were the only vampires here? If not, then who else is hiding among them?]

Is there room for another lab assistant to help out? If not with that, then just getting medical supplies to our ship in general?

That's right! [ Honestly, Allen has no idea either how many vampires could be among the population. He doesn't exactly seek them out, not unless bodies start turning up. But years in places like this have taught him that there's a good chance there's a small percentage of the population that were vampires. Better to take precautions]

Mm, we'd always welcome more help! I don't believe we've met- what's your name?

[On one hand, a blood drive would be an easy source of blood for Elena, should she choose to drink it. On the other, he's not keen on announcing his immortal secret to the whole Fleet.

In the end, his duty to his ex prevails, so he manages a smile.] Right, sorry. I'm Stefan. I arrived about a month ago? Something like that.

I figured, I've got lab experience from back home, so this seemed up my alley.

[He gives a smile and nod]

Then we'll be glad to have you. We'll do a briefing for volunteers about ninety minutes before the drive starts, so - [INSERT A TIME I DON"T KNOW]

Thanks, Allen, on both counts. I'll be there. [With probably way too much caffeine in his system - while he has better self-control than the average vampire, he's not sure how well this'll work out for him. There's a moment of hesitation, before he asks:]

Quick question. The donations stay on your ship, right? You don't send it to other ships or, er, people unless it's necessary?

I'm glad to hear it.

[He keeps his expression neutral at the question]

That's correct. We can send it to other medics in the fleet in an emergency medical situation, but not without prior approval from myself or Dr. Crusher.

[His eyes betray his relief - it doesn't seem like either Allen or this "Dr. Crusher" are vampires, but that also feels pretty safe. In terms of vampires ~~like him~~ accessing it.] Got it. I figured we didn't have a hospital on the Fleet so I wasn't sure where it was going...

[He manages a smile, though it's thin.] What made you decide to organize this, anyways? This place doesn't seem particularly violent.

[ Well hey, showing relief at that news isn't a bad thing to show to Allen. It makes him much less suspicious for one ] Mm, we don't have a central clinic, I'm afraid. And we have to be careful of blood magic users, vampires, demons and other threats trying to access the supply - so we have to keep tight control on it. As an Exorcist, I felt keeping the blood on my ship would be the safest.

[Especially since it would've been hard to stash it behind a fire-breathing dragon with how small this space is.]

[And he gives a shrug at the question] The last place like this that I worked in, violence and murder were practically commonplace. Plus even if it wasn't, accidents can always happen. So...I guess I felt it was better to be prepared, just in case.

[Blood magic hadn't once occurred to him - which, in hindsight, makes sense. Still, he can't quite hide his confusion at Allen's profession. That's a word he hasn't heard in a long time.] Like... associated with the church Exorcist?

Makes sense. [Being prepared ahead of time, he means.] Violence wasn't too common back home, so it wasn't exactly on my mind.

That's right. [And he says out of pure habit at the confusion] It's not like what's in the movies though, if that's what you're thinking.

[He nods;] I'm glad to hear that it wasn't.

Not really. I was thinking more, it's been a while since I've heard of exorcists. We don't - we didn't use them much at work.

Me too. It's gotten more violent since the invasion, but it wasn't always like that.

Ah- oh! I don't do much Exorcism in the clinic! Two separate jobs, really! [a nervous laugh]

The Invasion?

[Stefan's inwardly groaning at himself for causing the confusion.] I figured. Sorry, I should've-- I worked for the church too, back home. [beat] Also a completely separate job.

Last year, in my world, a group of aliens decided to invade Earth. They didn't succeed, but it affected most of the planet.

You did? [He smiles at that- though may be internally hoping this guy isn't too high up on the ladder] What did you do at the church?

[And shit what?]

Alien invasions?! That actually happens?!

Lowly intern-type stuff. I worked for an interfaith minister, so I did whatever she needed that week. Think like community programing and vigils. [Lots and lots of vigils, unfortunately.

His face grows more solemn as he nods.] Sure does. Where I'm from, it happened May 2015, after a group decided that they wanted Earth for their own purposes. Even though we fought them off, a lot of the planet became uninhabitable.

It was... it wasn't something I'd wish on anyone.

[It's very subtle how he relaxes a little at that. A minister. Good. Much better than someone from the Vatican being here] I'm sure it wasn't lowly to the people you aided.

....I'm sorry. That's terrible to hear. Is there...a way to make those places habitable again?

I don't doubt that. [He manages a smile, though it's thin. Stefan loved that work, even if it earned him some stares because he doesn't practice Christianity...]

We're hanging in there. About a third of the United States's gone [including Hollywood, whoops], but they're rebuilding bit by bit... and other countries have been pitching in where they can. I think it's possible, just... difficult.

That's terrible to hear... [A third of the united states....and that country was not small either] I wish there was something I could do to help out.

[It was one of the hardest part of being in these places. Hearing stories like these and knowing what you could actually do is so limited]

[It was even worse to watch first-hand. Stefan's not sure he can forget watching Las Vegas crumble into nothing...] It's okay. You're helping out a lot over here, and while it's not quite the same thing... it's something.
