[People who've been around the fleet for awhile might recognize the video feed coming from the Blue Fish's lab. Allen's standing behind his usual table, standing a bit...stiffer, than usual. Timcanpy can be found in the background, where he seems to have acquired a small straw sun hat and is using some tinfoil as a tanning screen in front of a lamp]

Hello all. For those who don't know me, I'm Allen Walker, one of the medics aboard the SS Blue Fish. Just a couple things today.

First of all, the bi-monthly blood drive is going to take place next weekend aboard the Blue Fish! If you wish to donate please fill out the form attached to this video. [The form that can be found here] Anyone who donates can be paid in either money or food. If you're interested in volunteering or you have any questions, please contact me. Any vampiric volunteers will not be allowed to sample or work directly with the blood.

Second, while I'm sure many of you are enjoying your time on the warm beaches, please remember to wear sunscreen if you're going to be out there for a long period of time. [He grimaces a little, as if he learned that one the hard way] Also please make sure to keep yourself hydrated, watch out for storms, and use proper precautions if you're helping with the fungus problem.

Lastly, if you're looking for a way to earn money aside from donating blood, remember you can always donate medical supplies to the clinics! Prices will vary on supply and demand, but I'm willing to pay you in either credits or this planet's currency. Right now, I'm sure any sort of sunburn or hangover treatments would be very much appreciated. If you're a lab assistant interested in having supplies sent to your clinic, please let me know.

[He gives a wave, and the feed cuts out. When the feeds over, he gives a sigh of relief, flops down in his chair and starts...playing that game Crowley made for the network. Yep. That stupid addictive game.]

[ He gives a skeptical look because girl he knows you're blind, but he decides not to comment on it and sighs at the food thing. ]

That's right. If a person is healthy and it's done carefully, it's perfectly safe to extract a little blood from them. Then that blood can be used to help someone else whose been injured and has lost an unhealthy amount of blood.

Ah- no. Not with blood transfusions. It's mostly just needles and tubing, in this case.

It's a medical procedure, using needles and tubing mostly. We take a small amount from a healthy adult and store it. And if someone gets injured and loses a lot of blood, that blood can be used to help replenish what they lost.

Forgive me, this is completely foreign to me so I'm a little lost. [More than a little, but she's trying.] So is it... like bleeding someone if they're sick, but instead you keep the blood? And they're not actually sick, but it can be used for someone who's injured...

[Man this would have saved more than a few lives back home.]

But how can it be stored? Doesn't the blood congeal or what not? Dry up?

Just what is the blood drive for, exactly? I mean - is there some sort of community Drift Fleet blood bank?

[What can he say? You live long enough in places like this, and vampires become as normal as "that guy who doesn't tip"]

Mm. It's for injuries and blood transfusions purely. In a situation like this, there's no guarantee of complete safety or that magical healing will always work. So we like to keep a small blood bank, just in case.

An' is that open to everyone who needs it? [She pauses, remembering what some people could do with magic and just a bit of blood.] And who has access to it?

Blood drive, you said? [His mind's immediately wandering towards who could possibly benefit from it - and he's not liking those implications. Surely he and Elena were the only vampires here? If not, then who else is hiding among them?]

Is there room for another lab assistant to help out? If not with that, then just getting medical supplies to our ship in general?

That's right! [ Honestly, Allen has no idea either how many vampires could be among the population. He doesn't exactly seek them out, not unless bodies start turning up. But years in places like this have taught him that there's a good chance there's a small percentage of the population that were vampires. Better to take precautions]

Mm, we'd always welcome more help! I don't believe we've met- what's your name?

[On one hand, a blood drive would be an easy source of blood for Elena, should she choose to drink it. On the other, he's not keen on announcing his immortal secret to the whole Fleet.

I figured, I've got lab experience from back home, so this seemed up my alley.
