Broadcast: Nope!
Action: In the water temple!

[ Belthazar's dragged Eithan along on a temple run, and some others are joining the party! Safety in numbers, right? Well, if they don't all kill each other first. Oops.
Good game, guys. ]

entrance | introductions
open, also hi guys she is just force joining your party
[ Where did this weird lizard tailed girl come from? Why is she holding a microphone stand under water? How is she not electrifying everyone around her as a result of that?
At least she's fully covered up this time, wearing ruffles over her chest rather than the weird strap dress she usually has on. Seems she has some kind of magic on it to prevent it from getting wet.
Either way, here's your local chaotic evil demon and dragon mash up. Please don't mistake her for a mid-boss or even a trash mob. ]
Are you going to explore the dungeon? [ It's a temple, but details... ] A five man team is ideal and I see you're short a fifth ♥ Good thing that Eliza-chan's here to fill in that last spot.
[ Did she just invite herself along? Yes, yes she did. ]

He's not very proud of what he said the other day.
However, he doesn't let the panic sit on his face; he tries to feign apathy.]
Oh, it's you. Can you actually do anything, or are you here to get eaten by monsters?
no subject
Even if I'm regarded as a monster, it's the expected duty of a countess to help out those in need.
[ Holding out her microphone stand, the seemingly useless object changes appearances to reveal what it truly is: a spear. What a suitable weapon to use under water. Not that the water around her seems to affect her as her dress and hair seem to be falling properly around her as though she were on land. ]
no subject
[Though, her mic stand turns into a lance and he is, in fact, surprised enough to say something.]
Oh. Perhaps I underestimated you, Lady Cupcake.
no subject
Are you going to send me a party invite or should I just invite myself? I heard a tale once where a king and queen didn't invite a very powerful lady to their daughter's christening so she cursed them. I don't really want to have to curse you.
no subject
I thought you already invited yourself, and I hear no objections from the others... so I guess you're coming with us.
But if you get in my way, I'll make sure to turn you into a fish and feed you to a shark. Understood?
open~
Unfortunately, he had no really convincing arguments as to why he shouldn't join this little adventure, however much he would have liked to keep working. So he instead threw his cloak over his shoulders and let him be drawn down to the planet for this... adventure into an old temple. He wasn't sure it was his, or anyone's, place to explore this planets temples but since they had no objections-]
I don't suppose anyone has supplies, at least? We're not just leaping into this?
no subject
I mean, I've got some first aid stuff, but... beyond that, I dunno what to prepare for. What were you thinkin'? Should we go do some shoppin' first, you think?
[
Give him an excuse to go back. Please.]no subject
Medivh. Maglor.]I'm not sure we have time now. [Hm.] First aid is good though. Maybe we'll find some fish?
[
Take him with you.]no subject
[Someone seems to have forgotten that most people need to eat more than once every few days.]
no subject
[He pats his shoulder bag.]
I did craft a few potions for the journey. If anyone needs healing, I have salve as well.
no subject
Everything is underwater so fish would be plentiful at least? And maybe this planet has fruit that grow underwater.
no subject
I could still try conjuring, though.
no subject
You don't need anything like that, right? Let's just go.
no subject
We don't know how long this might take, we might need some. Yes.
puzzles | combat
spiiiikes! and a light puzzle!
One stupidly narrow hallway leads them into a stupidly cluttered room, as is typical. What isn't typical, however, is the light - patches of it, in fact, filtering in through gaps in the ceiling. It's one of the first thing Eithan notices. Well, that's worth investigating! He starts toward the closest "illuminated" space on the floor, curious to see if it's pointing out anything in particular or if it just happens to be this way...
But once someone in their merry band of misfits tries to walk by him, onto the shadowed patch of floor next to the light, Eithan's demonic reflexes kick in (thank the Goddess) and he grabs them by the shoulder, yanks them back and away before--
shnk!!
Yep. Spikes. They pop right up out of the tile, almost instantly.
He stares at them for a moment, then nods at whoever he just grabbed before letting go again. ]
Careful, yeah? No idea what this means, but... I think we've gotta figure it out and watch our steps if we're gonna get any deeper.
(( y'all feel free to make up whatever. i've got no set solution in mind or anything~ though if y'all want me to come up with one I will?? lol ))
no subject
By the Light!
[YIKES.]
So stepping on something that isn't illuminated will trigger a trap... Look, do you see the patterns? Different tiles have different markings on them. The one we're on is a blue rune, but the one I stepped on is a gray arrow-- do you see?
no subject
Welcome.
[ Well, he sees now. He hums, thoughtful, grabs a rock and pitches it over the same tile. And yep -- spikes. ]
Looks like it's not just steppin' on it. Swimmin's out. [ He crosses his arms, looks to Belth. ] So... only stay over the blue runes, no matter what?
no subject
He pauses there tensely for a moment, ready for another trap. When no attack comes, he calls back to the others.]
Looks like I can scout things out this way. It'll be a pain if I have to ferry you all through this one by one, though.
no subject
[He glances over at Eithan.]
... I don't suppose you have a natural aptitude for warping space and time?
no subject
And he'd beaten the Guardian and whatever demon had possessed him. If Mesdivh could do it...]
I can teleport, I know you can to. I believe I can imitate the Guardians technique without Atiesh.
[Or-]
Or I can try to make a shield covering the spaces between safe tiles. Even demons claws have trouble getting through one, I doubt these spikes could match that.
no subject
He looks at Belth... and deadpans, ] You know, I think I left that in my other coat.
[ Sigh.
He listens to Khadgar, and. Welp. Okay, looks like Eithan's definitely a liability for this one! Doesn't feel great. So he pushes a hand through his hair, starts looking all around the room, trying to see what he can figure out from this position. ]
Yeah, since I'm clearly not teleportin'... [ He looks over to Yuan. ] Can you see anything that'll like, turn the spikes off? Or at least tell me where to step? [ Then, to Khadgar: ] Otherwise, yeah, I might have to take you up on that shieldin' thing. Or somethin'.
no subject
[The effect isn't hard to notice, though: the spikes immediately shoot out of their hiding places all at once, and then slowly retract.]
...Well, that was...
[Shoonk! And after about ten seconds, they do it again.] ...The switch flips two ways. I can probably turn that back off.
no subject
[Then Yuan teleports away, only to change the puzzle drastically. Belth squeaks at the SUDDEN ONSLAUGHT OF SPIKES.] By the Light! Turn that off!
[That taken care of, he takes a moment to calm down and keep thinking.]
A shield could work. I don't trust any variation of slow-fall to help us swim across. [He bites his bottom lip, judging the distance.] A short-range portal could also do the trick.
[He glances at Khadgar.]
It may be necessary for one of us to keep the portal open on each side, but I know we could do it.
no subject
[ At least it's not a squeak?? But he does put a hand over his heart as he exhales. Geez, at least no one was standing somewhere dangerous! ] U-Uhh, yeah, off, please? 's probably best. Thanks.
[ Bless you, Yuan.
He listens to Belthazar pitch his idea, nods along, understanding - he knows about portals, they're what mages and scientists created together to connect the realms back home - so he's not at all confused, at least! Just impressed that it could be done so easily here. ]
I'm up for portal attempts if y'all are, honestly.
no subject
[Before someone slips and gets shanked.
Belthazar has good thinking though. They could fairly easily two-way portal this. They're both talented enough mages. It really makes hm wish they were from the same time, they probably could have pushed each other a lot in the Kirin Tor.]
I think we could, yeah. Let's try it, otherwise we came all this way for nothing.
no subject
I don't know anything about 'portals', but if there's a way I can contribute power safely, I'll do what I can.
no subject
All right. I'm going to conjure a portal and go through it. It should keep going for a few seconds, but after that it will try to unravel. I'll be able to keep it up at the exit, but Khadgar-- I need you to support this side until Eithan is through.
After that, you can either jump through yourself or blink across, it matters not.
[He holds out his hands, then, and begins conjuring. There's a distinct shift in the way the water feels, as if someone is warping it around without actually touching it. Tendrils of magic both visible and invisible coalesce into a small ball between his hands, and then he widens it, until a little window appears. The shimmer looks like the other side of the puzzle, where of course another portal has appeared.]
Oh, and one more thing. [He looks at Eithan.] Hold your breath and try not to throw up. It never ends well.
[And in he goes!
Belth pops out on the other side without incident. The portal starts to fizzle out, but Belth immediately resumes spellcasting on his end, and it seems to stabilize for the moment. He could probably do this by himself-- probably-- but he'd deplete the rest of his mana, and he doesn't want to approach that topic with Khadgar around. Not yet.
Better to just split the work.]
no subject
[So he'll probably end up hopping through the portal. As soon as Belthazar is through and starts stabilizing his side, Khadgar sets to stabilizing his, letting his own magic slip in and around the portal.
It takes a moment before he's comfortable with how the portal is settled and he nods to Eithan.]
It's ready when you are. Remember Belthazar's tip.
no subject
... 's it really that bad?
[ It's not that bad back home... Then again, those are professionally constructed, carefully planned-out portals between the realms, not something people just, well, poofed into being like that.
He waits for Khadgar to be ready - though he does blink again at the mention of Belth's tip. ]
Uh, okay?
[ Here goes nothing! He takes a deep breath, holds it, and in he goes.
... And wow, no, that's not like the portals back home, that's pretty damn unpleasant. Wow. He pops out safely on the other side, letting out that breath he was holding along with a noise of disgust. ]
Dear Miina, holy fuckin' hell.
[ Okay. Well. World's spinning a little, but! No big deal. Yeah. ... At least he's not gonna throw up??? ]
no subject
Wormholes. You'll be okay in a minute.
[He keeps channeling mana into the portal.]
Come on, you two! I am going to outlive half of you if you take any longer!
no subject
It's not much worse than teleporting, really. But he's also grateful he doesn't need to eat often.]
I really doubt that, kid.
