[ Although actually a member of the Huntress, Chris is on the Wonderduck. He's seeking out whoever he finds just to double-check if they've spoken to Cole recently. It isn't a lack of trust so much as an obsessive need to make sure Cole's going to be okay during whatever downswing it is he's found himself trapped in.

But when he's not being a dutiful son, he's kind of wandering around the ship looking at all the difference. Those upgrades sure do look damn fancy and fine, and he's making note of which ones might be more useful and how to pitch them to his crew at the end of the month. ]

[ well, it's not like he didn't expect Chris to be here, but to see him without Cole being nearby is something that Lloyd's not 100% used to. not that he isn't welcome to come aboard the Wonderduck as much as he'd like, though he seems to be looking for something-- or maybe just looking around? well, whatever. it's actually a good thing that he managed to catch Chris; after hearing what happened from Kaneis, he wanted to check and make sure that he was alright.

[ When Chris sees Lloyd, there's a moment of hesitation. It's hard to get rid of considering Lloyd is the one who (accidentally) speared his father and taught them all that their two types of magic just do not mix at all. Still, it's not the kid's fault and he does still need to give him a head's up. ]

Uh, no, actually. I know exactly where he is. [ Magic sensing at its best. His parents were never more than a shimmer away. It is, however, a good segue to his actual worries. ] Has he talked to you lately?

Huh? Um...

[ has he and Cole spoken to each other lately? kind of, though not extensively. just some small 'how-are-yous' and the like as they were passing each other by. ]

Mmn... A little, I guess. Just some small stuff. [ then again, Lloyd's been quieter than normal lately. most conversations he had didn't really go past small talk. ] Why, what's up?

He didn't ask you to help him find anything, did he?

[ Chris doesn't see a reason to freak anyone else out until he knows the extent of how far everything's gone. As upset and angry as he is for Cole's thought process, it isn't his place to drag everything out. Still, Chris has to pause and take a deep breath. ]

I mean... If he does, just ignore it. Trust me.

Oh... no, he didn't ask me to find him anything.

[ not that he'd agree to it immediately-- only if he knew what it'd be for and ONLY if it wasn't for that vanquishing potion. it's not that he doesn't trust Cole, because he still does, but he's definitely a little more wary and a little more than pissed at him. ]

Not like I'd do it anyway. Kaneis told me what happened.

[ Yeah, he should have expected that but it takes a second for Chris to respond. He doesn't know how many eggshells he's walking on anymore. ]

Right. Okay. That's good. I mean—not good. It's not good, none of this is good. [ He takes a breath. ] I just wanted to make sure nobody indulged him on this.

[ yeah, and good thing Kaneis told him when he did because hoo boy Lloyd probably WOULD have indulged him. ]

Nah, I get it. [ more than Chris probably knows right now. ] …You doing okay with all this?

[ Chris just gives an irritated and defensive look. He hasn't been running on much sleep lately and this whole thing is freaking him out. Cole isn't allowed to die again, he promised Chris he wouldn't die this time. ]

Yeah, I'm fine. You know, with my dad suddenly deciding assisted suicide is the way to go for no particular reason and is now trying trick people into helping him.
