[ He'd been distracted by the planet and trying to get the Khroma doll - which is now settled on his bunk, but that's not entirely relevant. But when he'd tried finding Krista... it hadn't worked out. Sure, she had said she would come to the pathstone, but.. it's been a while.

So Duke is asking now. ]

I left a book with the library to be copied... only I cannot get in contact with the one I left it with. It is.. a monster encyclopedia. Does anyone know what has become of it?

[ He'd like it back please. ]

No clue, sorry, but - what kind of monster encyclopedia? Monsters from here or your own world?

... I'm not certain what you mean by 'what kind'. But of my own world, yes.

Oh, hehe. That's mostly what I meant - what sorts of monsters were in it. I didn't know there was something like that floating around the Fleet.

Ah. [ ... He hopes it isn't literally floating about the Fleet... ]

They aren't very common, but fairly common, home. Likely something to do with more monsterkind than human to get in conflict with.

Was it something you wrote or brought with you?

Brought with - I received it as a present where I was previously. It was filled in by people who ... picked fights more often. [ And with him too, but that's besides the point. ]

[ she laughs a little at that, just because she empathizes. ]

The Bishop. Krista, who is the one I can't contact, was the one who mentioned it previously.

I don't really know a lot of people outside of my ship yet... but I'll keep an eye out for her.

... More or less the same. [ On not really knowing people he doesn't share space with. He just... remembers names, and faces or voices that go with them. ]

My personal one is less complete. However the images are different.

If you want to copy it more than once, so you may keep one, I would not mind.

[ This is a harder choice than it sounds like. Library is neutral, but he is curious about the red fish because that seems to be where the transcriber is. And a potential of work-space seeing?

Let's pretend the pause was him finding the book in question. ]

[he is kind of wondering about that pause. and not that he's a slightly paranoid, antisocial hermit or anything... but it puts him a little on-edge.

still, the prospect of more material is definitely worth it, and he's confident that he can take care of himself. he'll just have to make sure to hide anything incriminating before he has visitors.]

So it's some time later that Duke texts back. ]

[...but he'll actually come out and greet him, this time. it takes a little for him to make the decision and actually wander out there, but he eventually does.

so, sooner or later, Duke will have a scarred-up kid with one eye coming out to meet him. and he silently lifts his chin in greeting when he spots him.]

The Pathstone lacks a lab... I'm assuming that is where you would like to trade books? [ Lead the way? ]

[he thinks about it, turns halfway in the direction of the lab, but then stops and shakes his head.

he's kept the book safe somewhere else. so, without a word, he turns to lead the way toward the bunks instead.]

[ Okay, well he hadn't indicated he should stay put, so following him is the way to go.

This is either someone like the girl who walked through the wall, or someone who can't talk. Oh well, Duke calmly follows along. ]
