[There's been a bit of coming and going on the ship lately, but this time the First Breath is graced with no less than three (3) new passengers! Welcome all, and how are you guys faring? And while we're at it, what are the older residents up to? Inquiring minds want to know.]

[Does this one not know what duels are either? The concept is really baffling, because it seems to be a constant across every dimension he knows of.]

Well...have you heard of dueling? Like this.

[Lila may notice that Yuya's wearing cargo pants with some conspicuously large pockets! It's from one of these that he takes out a deck of cards, presenting it bottom-up to show a card depicting a cute hippo in a top hat and bowtie.]

[Yeah, no, Lila has definitely not ever seen dueling with a pack of cards. She cocks her head, regarding his deck suspiciously.]

So it's a card game?

Yeah! You summon monsters and use strategies to do battle. And with newer technology we can interact with the monsters ourselves, and that's where the real fun begins! That's what Entertainment Duels are all about.

[He's really excited, inspired even. This is his element.]

You interact with the monsters . . . on the cards.

[Okay, now she's just confused.]

And why is that good, again?

Because it's fun to watch! Most duels these days take place in an Action Field, which uses holograms to create new environments and Action Cards scattered around to help you in a pinch. Running around with your monsters, never knowing what'll happen next...it's exciting for both the duelist and the crowd!

So what you're saying to me is you're okay with being kidnapped and put on television because you're used to it?

No, that's not it! More than anything, I want to be out with my comrades looking for our missing friend. But even if I'm trapped here, I have to make people smile.

That's a really weird life goal.

It's really fun, and it makes people happy. It's not weird at all.

[It's weird to her. But okay, she gives. With a sigh, she pushes her hair out of her face and leans closer to inspect his deck.]

So you're going to make our ship the duel ship, is that it?

[Wait, that's a terrible answer. Yuya frantically fishes around for a better one until something hits him.]

I-I mean...it can't be that nobody else knows how to duel...

[Just one person? Boy's never known anyone who hasn't even heard of the game before, it's kind of a big deal.]

I've literally never heard of this game in my life. But who knows, maybe it's just me.

[Something about her tone indicates that she doesn't actually think this is the case.]

[She's not the only one either. The girl Yuya talked to on the Marsiva didn't seem familiar with it either, and that's what really makes him doubt himself. But the idea makes no sense, so he shakes his head.]

It has to be. No matter what dimension this is, people have to duel.

People have to duel.

[She's never heard a more ridiculous statement in her life.]

This is really freaking you out, isn't it?

[That remark gets Yuya to straighten and put on a less worried face - can't be freaking out, right? But he still can't make sense of it.]

I've never heard of a dimension where they don't have duels at all. But...

[Four dimensions, separated by summoning method. That's what Yuto told him. Could he have missed one like this?]

I've never heard of a dimension where people walk around bare-handed.

[She shrugs.]

It seems like there's more to the universe than we knew. You might just have to get used to it.

[That's...also what Yuto had said, back when he'd first told Yuya about the dimensions. Yuya looks back at his deck and shuffles through to where he keeps Yuto's dragon, the black card standing out easily among the others. Seems like the world is bigger than either of them knew.]

...Maybe it is, but that won't change my goal. Even if it really is true, I'll just have to make this the duel ship after all!

[He says that, but in reality holy crap actually trying to carry out those goals is going to be some task. He owes it to himself and Yuto and his family to do his best anyway.]

[He seems to be one of those people with an unquenchable spirit. Lila sighs internally. She can't believe she's going to have to put up with this shit in close quarters for the next . . . however long.]

Does that mean we all have to learn how to play this stupid game?

Uh...I guess not. You just have to follow along with what I do, and have fun!

[Challenge one of duel ship: potentially nobody to play against, and no cards or tech but his own to teach people with. That basically makes everyone an audience member, if he can't find other duelists around here. Thankfully the Entertainment style is geared just for that...well, except for the lack of an opponent. That'll be new.]

What happens if I don't have fun?

[Now she's just fucking with him. Sorry, buddy.]

[Yuya's rapidly getting back into his entertainer mode, theatrical tone and all, so it slides better off him this time.]

Ah, but I'm a poor Entertainment Duelist if I can't entertain! That just means I'll have to improve myself until you do.

[Someone has been feeding this kid drugs.]

What if I never have fun? What if you fail?

[Yuya's caught for a moment there, because last time that happened it ended up being the opposite of entertaining, but he is determined not to let that stop him again.]

I won't fail! Dad brought everyone smiles with his dueling, and so can I. I'm sure of it.

[It's self-encouragement as well as a declaration, but it works for him.]

[Ugh.]

So you're just a tireless cheer machine, is what you're telling me.

An entertainer is bright and fun, if they want the audience to have fun.
