[lo and behold, we have video!

[commander is, for once, not in his gear. though he's in a simple t-shirt, he's holding the camera with his metal arm, making it hard to see it. you might be able to catch a glimpse of shine where his shoulder closest to the camera almost comes into view, but that's it.]

So I've talked to a few of you about doing some physical training and learning how to defend yourself. If you wanna come test it out, head on over to the Golden. I'll meet you in the cargo hold, and we can see what you're made of.

[Flat refusal. She did, everyone did. But this one won't. He might not be Steve, but she's pretty damn sure she doesn't want to encourage whatever it is that 'Commander' entails.]

[he sounds pretty damn sure of that one. even if she uses it, he's not going to answer to it.]

[It's a loaded question, but hers tend to be. Even the innocent ones, and this is anything but.]

Oh, no, you're not getting put of this that easy. You won't call me Commander, you have to pick something decent yourself. If you call me anything I don't like, I'll refer to you exclusively as your full name.

[were it not for the relentless sense of danger in the room, that would almost be a playful sort of threat.]

Her full name, you mean?

[It might almost be a playful threat, hers might almost be a teasing challenge. That doesn't make either of them any less dangerous.]

Thought we'd established I'm not her. Just like you're not Steve.

Fine, her full name. Every time. I won't even say "you" or "her".

It's not a name that means anything, here. [She shrugs, all nonchalance.] What would it matter?

Why does the name Steve Rogers bother you so much?

[his tone shifts to something completely flat and void of emotion. it's almost mocking.]

It doesn't. It's not mine, and it belongs to someone you know. If you use it, it implies that you expect me to be him. Which I'm not.

No. You aren't. [Not anymore, if he ever was, she thinks, watching him, listening to the way his voice goes cold and empty. Clear it bothers him. But using it would bother her, being so very clearly not him.]

I'll find something else, eventually.
