Who: Wrath
Broadcast: Fleetwide Video
Action: HS Marsiva hospitality deck
When: 6/13
[It's... probably a sad statement about Wrath's life that waking up in a strange place with something plugged into her neck? Not actually that weird. Not remembering how she got to said place? Also not that weird. Not remembering signing up for some kind of reality show?
At this point she just assumes that she's been subjected to another recode.
...okay, maybe a recode that went a little wrong. Who knows how much time she's lost, but it's an accomplishment that she's immediately aware of those things, she knows that. And she also knows better than to think about it too hard. Just have to roll with the punches.
Focus on what she can do. Which would be figuring out the communicator thing (hey, that's all pretty familiar!), try to read some stuff to get oriented, give up on reading, and just go for it.
So there you go. Tiny woman, bright pink hair, surprisingly deep voice.]
Maine? Orion? You around anywhere? Delta? North? Christine? Foxtrot? Whiskey?
[That basically covers everyone immediately important.]
Also, if anyone's seen my cane, I'd really like to have it back. It's about... uh. This big. [Holds hands apart.] And it's a cane. But don't press the button on it, there's a sword inside and the spring is kind of touchy.
And my chems. Those are kind of important.
And my kitten. This big. [Teeny.] Calico tabby with little pink jellybean toes.
That will be all, thank you.
[Very authoritative nod, sign off.]
[And after this, she's limping off to find a window and lose her damn mind with delight that she's in space. She can't wait to tell Maine! ...at some point.]

video;
Oh, I get it. [Probably not.] Security is an awesome job, I hope you're good at it. And you're from two different places--you must travel a lot. Nice! I'm from Proles, which is a city on the planet Zeus.
Lady? [Oh gosh, so cute. She can't help but giggle. She's seen enough historical dramas.] I don't think I get to be a lady. I used to be a lieutenant, but since I got discharged I don't have a rank any more, so you should just call me Wrath.
Re: video;
Oh, I'm sorry. The Marsiva should have medical facilities you can use if you are in need of aid. Once you are moved, I believe most of the ships have medical rooms, or someone else in the Fleet can aid you. I myself have Healing magics if you are ever in need.
It was my job in Valdemar to protect the people, so it is suitable. You will be assigned something similar - an augment. We all have one implanted in us. Mine was security, but there are also ones like engineering or piloting.
[ He smiled at her laugh, glad to see she seemed to be relaxing. Sometimes people did not take the news quite so well... ]
A lieutenant? You were in an army then?
video;
Hey, that was my kind of job, too! That's really good. Oh... and right, an augment. The thing. I think I've got a security one as well, maybe? But I'm not supposed to be picking shit any more cause it messes up my back, so I think someone made a mistake.
[She nods.] Yep, twenty-six years in the mobile infantry!
Re: video;
Ports? Ah, and I am afraid my magics cannot heal such a thing. But I would encourage you to talk with others. Medicine is much more advanced than anything I am used to, so they might have a solution. Or possibly a way station or planet we might come across at some point.
I have discovered there are many different types of security. I am sure you will find a way that fits. I use magic for myself - charming my ship to help avoided danger and damage, for instance.
[ That gets a brow raise. ]
Twenty-six years? That is quite the length of service. Yes, I can definitely see why you were given a security augment. In fact, any knowledge or expertise you have would be appreciated. We are on alert for potential attacks as we work through this asteroid cluster from a group of ships that apparently attacked the Fleet shortly before I arrived a couple months ago.
video;
Magic? [Magic's a thing?] Do you pull your ship out of a hat? Or make it disappear?
Yeah, I've done it all my life. [That she can remember.] I was really good at my job! I'll... just have to figure something out that won't make Julien yell at me. If that's the mission, that comes first.
Re: video;
No, I have heard of no such disease, and I cannot think Atroma would allow such a thing.
[ Or he sincerely hoped not. A plague outbreak would benefit no one, after all. Or at least, he thought Atroma would see it that way - that it would have. Surely it could not see plague as 'entertainment'? ]
Haha, no, nothing quite like that. More like this.
[ A ball of light appeared beside him, and then another. Mage lights - simple and not a drain on his magic in the least. ]
video;
[Play, that's worthy of a little happy squeal.]
That's so cool! How do you do it?
Re: video;
[ Well that was... quite the question... ]
No - no, there's nothing like that on this ship. In fact, one would prefer no one dies and even if they do, we certainly leave their bodies intact for whatever proper burial rituals they observe.
[ But he's happy enough to move on to the new question, the balls flickering as he moves them. ]
It is part of my Mage Gift. I can create them using magic. I can do other things to, but these are the least draining on my reserves.
video;
It's a gift? From who? But what a cool gift!
I think the coolest thing anyone's ever given me was when Caboose have me Jellybean.
Re: video;
Yes, I dearly hope we never find ourselves in such a position.
From the gods, I suppose. Some people are born with them, and others are not, and who can say why? Though it does tend to appear in bloodlines.
Jellybean?
video;
Ooh, you have gods? That's really cool too. The Commander has a god, but I don't think she's magic. She just... smokes a lot and makes greenbean casserole. But yeah, I didn't get born with anything cool, oh well.
Jellybean is my kitten.
Re: video;
I cannot say if the gods hear me here, but yes, we have gods in my home world. Though they have never gifted me with green bean casserole.
Oh. Perhaps he might be on one of the other ships, but from what I know animals are usually not transported with us.
video;
Jellybean's a little girl kitten. But yeah, maybe you're right. I can hope!
It's kind of funny because people from other worlds used to just show up in Proles. And I guess now I'm showing up somewhere else like one of them.
Re: video;
Hmm, I shall see if anyone on my ship knows how to make it. We did recently get a kitchen upgrade...
Other people -? So your world was like Paradisa then - it would bring those form other worlds to live within it? That is now three that I know of who carry out such a practice...
video;
It's weird because it only just started happening. Bifrons brought them in somehow because they were all supposed to be immune to the dysthrophe. But some of them are and some of them aren't. And they're all super nice people and it's shitty what's happening that they get stuck in our mess.
Re: video;
[ He, however, hears "rats" and thinks the small animal. ]
Rat? You ate rats? That were formed into bars?
[ There's no slight amount of shock. Even in desperate times on the road, he had never resorted to rats. ]
At least you seem to know a reason. We never did figure out the truth purpose in Paradisa, though many of us speculated it was a way for the castle to nourish itself.
Re: video;
... The castle ate people?
Re: video;
[ Well, he does, but at least not rats. ]
Oh. Rat is short for ration, I see.
No, not quite. We believe it fed off our mental states, our emotions. It would explain why it played so many tricks on us.
Re: video;
How does that even work? Emotions aren't like... solid things people can eat.
[Wow this is some next level shit.]
Re: video;
Haha, I wouldn't know. My sister serves, but I am a Herald, not a soldier.
I couldn't rightly tell you, and it was only a theory we had. We never found out why it truly wanted any of us. It put us through stressful, happy, and embarrassing situations, and we saw no reason for it except to effect our emotional state.
Re: video;
That's... Really weird. And it was just a building, not asshole people running psych experiments or something?
Re: video;
It is someone chosen by a Companion in my world - uh, that is, the easiest way to describe her is a magical horse as that is the form they take. We use our Gifts to help protect the people of Valdemar from threats within and out, and act as the King's voice in villages we visit.
Just a building, albeit a magical one. It provided everything for us if we but asked, though with a price. It guarded its secrets well, even unto the end.
video;
Huh. That sounds really weird. And scary. [And like a remotely controlled psych experiment but it's not like she was there. The whole magic thing is kind of hard to believe.]
Re: video;
Oh very. Ever since I was Chosen. Even if I wanted to be lazy, Yfandes wouldn't have let me - my Companion that is.
It could be, at times. Other times it was oddly kind to us - festivals, or parties, or days to enjoy whole other worlds. One could never predict it though, except around Christmas.
video;
[Psych experiment, psych experiment, psych experiment!] That sounds really hard to deal with, never knowing what's coming.
