Hiding? How-- how in the world do you hide a dragon?
[Especially a HUGE one.]
Like, I've tried that before.

[he's halfway through making a compressing motion with both of his hands as something suddenly occurs to him--and suddenly the last couple of comments from Hiccup make way more sense.]
Do dragons not look like humans where you're from? Ever?
no subject
[He stares at Robin like the man just grew an arm out of his forehead.]
N... no. No, they don't. Not even a little bit. Not ever.
no subject
That's... [he pauses. he thinks.] That got weird. Okay.
no subject
It's been weird for a while to be frank.
[He's... thinking with his hands. Trying to articulate how fucking weird this is.]
Uh... What about dragon racing? Is that-- is that something I can talk about without offending this mysterious shape-changing dragon guy? Or is that a no.

[maybe they should change the subject. he waves him towards the door to the hallway.]
Anyway, I'm also the captain--so I should probably show you around.

A tour would be great. A workshop would be better, but I can probably keep my chaos contained to the... engineering parts of the ship. Probably.
[He moves aside with a flourish.]
When you're ready, cap'n.
no subject
so, he moves them into the hall while he talks.] That's a slick little piece of engineering in itself, though. I think you're gonna fit in just fine.
no subject
Heh, thanks. It locks directly into the stirrup to help with steering... not that I can show you, since the dragon is, you know, missing.
[Sigh.]
Anyway, I've got a couple projects in mind. Little things, mostly.

Bridge is back there, obviously. This is the hallway, those hatches lead down to rooms, kitchen is that way, washrooms are that way-- [he barely pauses in his pointing in various directions to follow up on what Hiccup said:] --And what projects would those be? Give me the details.

[He's taking mental notes. Going too fast to jot down anything in his journal. The mapping can come later.]
While I was on the big ship I happened to run into two people who are limping in one way or another. One of them's just a kid. I'm thinking a chair with wheels.
The other guy's missing more of his leg than I am. I've never made a prosthetic with a knee before, but I think I can work it out. Maybe something with pulleys?

[he thinks he already likes this guy. between dragons and this... he'll continue leading him down the hallway, ducking through the door to the engine room.]
Right in here, see-- [there's already stuff everywhere, extra parts, half-built things, tools he's been collecting.] Kind of a mess, but we can move stuff around.
no subject
[His eyes light up when he sees the engine room slash workshop. This is his jam. Right here. Scrap everywhere, half-finished projects, blueprints--
He doesn't hesitate to jump right in, though he's careful not to touch anything that looks dangerous. He'll be examining the tools though.]
This is-- this is perfect. I can work with this. I mean, in here. Whatever, you know what I mean.
[He glances back at Robin, grinning ear to ear.]
Just make some room for me to work and we're good. I'm used to having a forge for metalworking, but something tells me there's some... fancy high-tech substitute for that sort of thing.
