[Technically he shouldn't be on the ship, but he isn't going too far. By the door he's set up a little shrine of white candles. He kneels down and lights them with a simple gesture. Belthazar's sleeves still have some rips and tears in them from fighting the bugs, but at least they're clean.

He turns a bit and watches Hiro make a plate. It takes him a minute and the silence would be awkward if Hiro was actually paying attention. Which he might not be.]

I thought-- well-- it's come to my attention that I-- treated you unfairly and-- [And here comes the rambling.]

There's no excuse for it and I know that so I am not going to make any but I wanted you to know that I am very sorry I'm not used to having friends as you already know and I made a mess of things as I am wont to do and I am trying to be better about this but sometimes I forget so if you could possibly consider forgiving me on your own time I would appreciate it because I would still like to be friends, I still consider you a friend even if I am terrible at it, because you have only been good to me even though I threatened to set you on fire multiple times.

[wow that sure... was a lot of rambling.

[hiro hadn't paid any attention while he was being stared at, but had started to turn with the plate in hand when the elf just sort of... lets all of his feelings fall out of his mouth.

[he looks surprised at first.]

[but then his expression softens, and he sets the plate aside, putting a hand on belthazar's shoulder.]

Hey... It's fine, I was a jerk, too, y'know? It happens. I forgive you if you forgive me, alright? We're still friends.

[He's already worked himself up to cherry-red status, and he can't help ducking his head a bit when Hiro touches his shoulder.]

[oh my god, he sounds so upset]

[He breathes out, obviously relieved. Adra was right. Of course, Adra is always right. Belth is still not very good at this, and the words aren't moving from his brain to his mouth fast enough. He works his fingers instinctively into Hiro's sleeves, and after a moment, he yanks him into a hug.

That's really embarrassing though, so of course he tries to get out of it as soon as possible and act like nothing happened. Because that's how he rolls. Light forbid someone else walk in and see them HUGGING.]

[he's kind of expecting the hug, a little, when he starts fidgeting with his sleeves like that, but when belth yanks him forward, he isn't ready for it. he gets to barely hug back when the hug is broken, and he's left staring with dusted cheeks at him.]

... S-so, we're good now. Right?

Y-yes.

[Totally pretending that didn't happen. He does, however, scoot over so that Hiro can sit next to him comfortably if he wants. The invitation is there.]

... Have you worked on anything interesting lately?

[he's just gonna grab his food and settle down with him, then.]

Eh, not really. Been a bit of a lull in ideas. I've mostly been running maintenance and trying to get what I can working on the big ship.

[he's not gonna say anything about being sad this month.]

[And he's not going to mention it either.]

I've been analyzing the plants I brought back from the last world we visited. I have a few seeds and bulbs I could pass to you, if... you were interested. There's a possibility they'll grow vines and attack us however.

Fire doesn't work, by the way. It only makes them angrier. Ice magic should do the trick.

That is also an option, but a last resort. I would like to make some of the plant's sap into a vitality potion first.

I'm not sure of the side effects so I haven't tested it yet. I could forward what I have to Adra, I suppose...

It should enhance your physical and mental acuity, in theory. It would make you faster, stronger, and your spells more powerful... only for a limited time, of course.
