[Riona stared down at the communicator, her lips twitching in annoyance and frustration as she carefully pressed some buttons. The device was completely foreign to her; nothing in her travels, or in all of Thedas, even remotely resembled the thing. It left her with no parallels to draw from, nothing from home that she could compare with it. Was it some kind of enchantment? Magic? She touched things on the device and made other things happen, though she hardly understood what she was doing. Nothing about this place made sense, or why she was here or how. All she knew was that she’d been brought here and as of right now, there was no feasible way to get back home.
Maker help these Blighted pricks if I ever get my hands on them…
After some considerable fiddling around, Riona finally (maybe) began to get the hang of it. The augment in her head – don’t even get her started on that thing – helped out somewhat. It appeared that she was about to begin “recording” a message, which was rather like writing it down on paper except she’s… speaking it and it somehow captures it? And others could hear it?
Stop thinking too hard on it and just do it.]
Soooo, I must admit, I’m a tad stupefied. Which is rather impressive, honestly. I usually can come up with something to say. Something witty, or at least maybe a terrible joke about templars walking into a bar. But this… [She gestures to the area around her, indicating the whole situation.] I’m stumped. Not only did you – whoever you are, you nug-fucking bastards – have the gall to kidnap me, you kidnapped me all the way past the stars. You couldn’t be content to just be regular kidnappers, oh no. You had to take that extra step. I’ll admit, I’m even sort of impressed.
[Give credit where credit’s due, right?]
Anyway, this… thing apparently can send this message to others who are trapped here with me, is that correct? If so, would anyone kindly care to answer a few questions for me? This… thing in my head does fill in some blanks, but there are quite a few that are left unanswered. I’d pay for the help but I was also robbed upon my getting kidnapped, so I have nothing to offer but my gratitude, and maybe a smile.
Action
[With that all said and done, Riona wanders off around the deck, taking in the sights. She's taken off all her armor and left it in a pile by the bed she woke up in. With the lack of darkspawn - well, the lack of anything, really - she doesn't feel it's needed, and it's proving more a hindrance anyway. So she'll look like someone who's just walked out of a Ren Faire, complete with her cautiously poking the equipment in the kitchen. Everything on this ship is foreign to her, and thus everything is getting the dead-eyed look and a cautious prod from either her hand or foot. At one point she accidentally kicks on a drink dispenser, and she reacts with a yelp and a hand instinctively going for a sword that's no longer there. Her hand clutches at empty air, and her frown deepens.]
I want my sword back.
[It's a petulant complaint and said to no one in particular, but it's a way to vent her frustration more than anything. She blows a breath out through her nose, stepping back and off to explore the rest of the area.]

[Furiosa had taken a moment to sit back and just observe people, and this girl's reaction was something out of the ordinary. Furiosa herself was at least familiar with machines and the basic concept, if not this particular application of it, but it was interesting to see someone react so potentially violent towards it.]
no subject
Riona turns towards the newcomer, processing what she said.]
Machine? [The word sounds funny on her tongue.] Is that what it's called? But as for your question, I suspect it wouldn't help with the machine, no. Not unless you're to stick something sharp and pointy into it.
no subject
Machine, yeah. This one serves food and drink, as I understand it, so no; I don't think it's meant to take a sword.
no subject
[She pokes at the dispenser again. More liquid comes out, though Riona is far less startled this time when it does.]
no subject
I wouldn't know. I'm used to bottles being empty.
no subject
...I've no idea what this is. It smells very strange.
[She lifts up her eyes, glancing over at Furiosa.]
Every filled bottle becomes empty eventually [She's being a little sarcastic, but it comes as quickly as it goes as she continues:] but I take it that's not what you mean.
no subject
No, the bottle has been empty for years. It's bone dry, covered in dust and sand. If the bearer of the bottle is able to get close enough to the spray early enough, they might get a couple drops, but otherwise it will remain empty.
no subject
[Fuck it, there's only one way of finding out. Riona takes a sip, before immediately spitting it back out.]
No, not water. It's got... sugar? I don't know. [It is, in fact, clear soda. Riona scrunches her nose and sets it down on the counter.]
Well that sounds lovely. And just why is the bottle so dry?
video;
[She grins.] Anyway, I don't know that much yet, but I'll answer anything I can!
video;
So it seems. Free help is certainly appreciated.
Anyway, first question: I had weapons on me before I was brought here. They're gone. Am I to assume there's no way of reclaiming them?
video;
[A pause and she shakes her head.] I mean, people sometimes get stuff, but... I don't know about weapons. Sorry.
no subject
Damn. [While she figured that would be the case, she had hoped someone would have learned something by now.] No, it's all right. It at least confirmed what I suspected. Thank you.
no subject
A-anyway, if there's anything else you wanna know, I can try to answer that, too!
action;
The way she acts, the lady seems as much a stranger here as Phedre - a relief to not be alone.]
My lady?
action;
As quickly as she's alarmed, Riona settles herself and relaxes. She turns and offers a small smile.]
I apologize. Did I startle you?
action;
The niceties of her upbringing were not for everyone - just many.]
It is I who should apologize for startling you. Are you well?
action;
[To say the very least.]
action;
And yet, kidnapping is a situation one can become almost accustomed to.]
There have been worse kidnappings. Have you experienced the devices that exude...
[She's a bit at a loss for words. Everything is devices. They all seem to exude things. In her world showers are an uncommon and mysterious occurrence.]
no subject
Exude...? Forgive me, can you be a little more clear? I've poked devices here - apparently they're called machines - that shot out all manner of things.
This is so late feel free to ignore
Is that common for where you come from?
[She was trying to figure out where these other people arrived from or went to. To somehow gather knowledge that no one else seemed to have.]
Video
You are from Thedas. [Possibly a question, it's hard to tell. ]
You have been captured by Atroma, and you are very far from home.
Video
I am. Ferelden, to be exact. Far from home I've gathered, but the name is new. Atroma, is it? Who is this Atroma?
Video
They are the beings who control the situation we are in. It is...difficult to explain. They have captured us, and are now dragging us through space on their ridiculous whims.
no subject
I suppose doing so on their reasonable whims would have been too much to ask. [Sarcasm! Because it's either that or flip out.] Charming. Are there others from Thedas here?
no subject
[It's hard to tell from his tone if he's joking or not. ]
Yes, there are a lot of us. It seems Thedas is a popular world to kidnap from.
no subject
I can't decide if these people have excellent or terrible taste in who they kidnap. Just how many of us are here?
no subject
Possibly the latter, given the general state of our world. I believe there are around twelve of us, perhaps less, perhaps more. I have not taken a census.
