[Beverly woke up this morning feeling strangely... invigorated. Looser, more carefree, and dare she say it? Happier than she's felt in months, ever since she first arrived on the Marsiva. To celebrate, she decided to head for the beach.

Which is where you'll find her now, lounging on a towel and reading a book that looks suspiciously similar to the ah... literature Dorian was so kind as to read out loud to the network a while back. At the very least, there's a ridiculous picture of a shirtless burly man in a plaid kilt on the front cover. As for her, well, she's wearing a very stylish green bathing suit and a big white sunhat, thoughtfully provided by a fan (who has thankfully saved you all from seeing her in some 1980s sparkly gold monstrosity instead). No doubt if you approach her, she'll flash a blinding smile your way and cheerfully engage you in conversation. Or better yet, some fun activities! Right now, she's up for almost anything!]

[Beverly shrugs. Not really sure why her choice of reading is bothering this young woman.]

Well, I'm enjoying it, either way.

[Mostly, because she has no idea how to end a conversation. Socially awkward as fuck.]

[Sitting up straighter, she extends a hand to the other woman.]

By the way, I'm Beverly Crusher. I don't believe we've met!

[She starts at the name, pointing in surprise.]

Ah-! You're the smart one Lark was telling me about!

[Beverly chuckles.]

No need to look so surprised about it.

[Oh, right. She takes the hand after a moment for a nervous handshake.]

Sorry, I was just surprised to find you like this. I'm Nightingale.

Nice to meet you, Nightingale. You're a friend of Lark's then I take it? Are you from the same universe?

[She's noticing a theme here...]

[Given that she knows Lark, a question like that catches Nightingale off her guard enough that she flinches lightly. Still, if Lark hasn't told her... It might not be Nightingale's place to. She forces a quick smile.]

Something like that. It's nice to meet you.

She said you've been here a while, and know a lot about this place. Is that right?

I've been here since March, though there are plenty of others who have been here longer than that. Why? Did you have some questions? I'd be happy to try to answer them!

... How long ago was 'March'?

[She's trying to phrase it in a way that won't give away that she uses a completely different calendar- trying to maintain the illusion of being from Lark's world.]

[Considering Beverly knows next to nothing about Lark's world, she probably won't notice any incongruities. Not for now anyway.]

Oh well... [She pauses, quickly calculating.] ... about 150 24-hour days, give or take.

So that's a bit over four months... Okay. That's enough time to be an expert, yeah.

Do you know how long ago the first group came here?

About ten months ago. A couple of my crewmates were among the first group of people to arrive.

A year...

[That wasn't what she wanted to hear, so she takes a deep breath. (Someone hasn't quite figured out that they're using different calendars yet.)]

Which ship, and which crewmates? I'll ask them directly.

Ask them what directly?

The planets the fleet's been to so far, what the very beginning was like, if there's been any other events similar to this place, with the bugs getting poisoned and attacking, plus the angry noises when we got here... Things like that. I need as much information about this place as I can get.

I don’t know firsthand what the beginning of this cycle was like, but I do know this was the first time the fleet has encountered anything as disastrous as what happened on the Iskaulit, though we were attacked a couple of months ago by an unknown fleet of ships. Whether or not the incidents are directly connected, we haven’t been able to determine.

As for the other things, the ships’ logs will contain a lot of the information you’re looking for. The Bishop also has a physical library, where they keep some star charts, if you’re interested in something like that. I’ve been studying them myself, when I have the time.

[She smiles.]

Not that you can’t still talk to Sokka and Allen, of course. They were both very helpful when I first arrived!

-- Oh, Allen's part of your crew? Kid with the creepy eye lens? I didn't realize he'd been around since the start...

"This cycle", though... [She shakes her head, not happy to hear it.] I don't think the logs will give me everything I need- The Atroma manage those, right? Something directly under their control is useless if I want to find a weakness or objective of theirs.

[She may come back to the other stuff at the moment, but right now she is focused on what Nightingale said about Allen, frowning in a mixture of confusion and defensiveness. It doesn't help that the glitch is helping to amplify her affections for her friends.]

He's older than he looks.... And what do you mean "creepy eye lens?"

[Allen's not creepy!!!]

What do you mean, what? How can you miss his creepy voyeur...

[wait a second

that eye sees fucked up souls. this person's soul is probably normal so it wouldn't set it off and maybe she doesn't know about it. was he keeping it a secret. shit.]

[Beverly's eyebrows go up at that because well... frankly, Nightingale just made Allen sound like a peeping tom or something here, though Beverly is certain that's not what she meant - if for no other reason than that she could never imagine Allen doing such a thing. But what if it was something having to do with the Noah?]

... nothing bad happened between you two, did it?

Uh, no, he just- Bought this creepy-ass costume monocle thing down here? It freaked me out. That's all.

[Congratulations, Beverly, you've found her. You've found the worst liar in the multiverse.]
