Cheerio!
[you're starting to recognize that familiar jingle, aren't you? the folksy tune comes drifting through your ship's speakers, followed by a much different voice than usual!]
G'morning, folks! I'm legendary interplanetary commentator Beau, filling in today for our lovely Diamond... Who has been feeling a little under the weather. Hope you feel better soon, darlin'.
Speaking of weather, here's the week's forecast!
Looks like we'll be having a heavy shower of transfers in the next forty seconds or so, largely over to the Wonderduck and Blue Fish, but with lighter showers moving in over First Breath and Huntress in the following twenty. I hope you folks have unpacked your ponchos!
[there's a hearty round of canned laughter from an unseen audience...]
Aaaand I am sorry to say, it looks like there's also been a bit of a cold front of disappearances--four of our band have left us, this week. While I can personally assure you it has not been due to death or other health complications, I can't completely rule out any connection with that cold that's been going around...
[a strange pause--before a little chime goes off in the background!]
This just in, we also have two brand new captains to lead our fine ships--everyone please give a warm round of applause to Captain Sok-ka of the SS Blue Fish, and Captain Fey of the SS Huntress!
[applause! tinny, pre-recorded applause!]
Fantastic. Be sure to tune in next week for more updates, and remember... the worlds are watching!
ooc: as usual, the network is open... but you won't get a response from Beau. the ooc post is here.

[He looks surprised- then horrified]
But-
But I had a cook on that ship! [Oh yeah] - And my stuff!
no subject
Relax, we got a cook here, too. She's kinda weird, but she makes good food.
Wait so there are ships in the fleet without a cook? How do they even eat?
no subject
I think they just fend for themselves with the proteins.
no subject
That sounds terrible.
no subject
[And yeah, he's already done with his first pudding cup and reaching for a second.]
no subject
I'm really glad we've got ours now. Sure, she's probably crazy, but it beats living on the squishy stuff forever.
no subject
What's her name?
no subject
no subject
no subject
Yeah! That's her!
no subject
She actually is insane- but she's very nice!
no subject
Are you from the same world?
no subject
[Being the embodiment of madness and all]
And...sort of? It's a long story.
no subject
I hear you, long convoluted histories, no one's got time for that. [Unless it's a tactical advantage long story, but that's different.]
no subject
[And wow if he was anyone else, that'd probably be pretty rude to say! But yeah, Allen is almost never inclined to talk about his past anyway, so he'll just smile]
Ha- yes. Exactly.
no subject
[Long. Pause. Then patronisingly:]
If you say so, little buddy!
no subject
[However? Being called little buddy]
Little buddy-
Hey! I'm certain I'm older than you!
no subject
You sure? You look, like fourteen.
no subject
[R U D E]
I'm twenty-two, I'll have you know!
no subject
Did you get trapped in an iceberg, too?
no subject
What?
no subject
no subject
[For a hundred years? Yeah okay sure, that's totally possible in all the ways it's not. But whaaatever. He shakes his head]
No, it wasn't quite like that. It's just that when I was sixteen, I was sent to a place where people didn't physically age...for about seven years. But I definitely am twenty-two.
no subject
That really has to suck, not ageing at all. I bet people mess that up all the time.
[Said in tones that he kind of hopes he's not the only person who's ever put his foot in it like this.]
no subject
Ah...yeah. All the time. It can get rather frustrating sometimes.
