[She fires up a ship-only transmission, piping through the PA system.]

Good evening First Breath. There have been a few changes to the crew roster recently and I am here to announce myself as your new Captain. [A slight pause. Another title. More responsibility, but honestly nothing she wasn't willing to take on regardless.]

I intend on making this ship the best in the fleet. Engineers, I'll need your input.

[and the transmission ends.]

[Video. She's got her grease on and she's looking ready for action.]

You were a captain before?

Something of the like, I'm an Imperator. I was under the rule of an Immortan and I oversaw the Warboys. [She's trying to keep the vile out of Immortan but it's bound to come through anyway.]

There's a Warboy here, actually; Nux. He pilots the Red Fish.

I have to admit, I only rally understood some of that.

I've been in a position of authority before, and I drove the War Rig. I know what I'm doing.

Good.

You had any doubt?

Well, I don't really know you.

Well. You get a chance to find out.

[She ghosts a smile, nothing cocky but with a certain self-assurance about it.]

Can we ask Atroma for a Doof Wagon?

[He's seriously already heading for the shuttle.]

Yeah, we should do that. It would certainly liven things up a bit, wouldn't it?

[She's heading down to the shuttle bay and prepping hers as well, making a few last-minute adjustments to her prosthetic in anticipation of a wild ride. This would be a good chance to burn out some of his energy, and the greater challenge she could make it for him, the better.]

It's not the same without the war drums!

[Furiosa, you should know that you could race for days and he'd still want to, but... yeah, this is a pretty good start. He clambers into the pilot's seat with a huge skeletal grin.]

I'm sure we can work something out.

[Settling into her Shuttle, then easing it out of the bay and into the night sky. It's a lot different than piloting the First Breath; a lot more intimate and almost overwhelming; the amount of pitchy blackness surrounding something so small and inconsequential. For a moment, he might catch her expression of tempered awe before she collects herself and grins at the device.]

Okay, Warboy, lets show these guys what we're capable of.

[Nux likes piloting the Red Fish well enough, but he's already found that he likes the shuttle much more, for exactly the same reasons Furiosa finds it so breathtaking. It feels, as he tried to explain to Cass, so much closer to real -- so much closer to being able to feel the wind and sand, even if they're not really there any more than they are around Red Fish.

It's not like having his coupe back, but it's something, and maybe it's no surprise to her that when he has the little ship all to himself he still doesn't ease at all. He powers out of the bay and jets off into the stars with a whoop.]

[Here, at least, she doesn't feel inclined to try and reel him in. Let him have his fun ... in face, let her join it. She slips out of her own hangar bay and reves up to spit out and try to catch up next to him. She's learning the controls as well, and what better way to learn the pitch and yaw of a personal craft than to push it through its paces?]

[She's totally pulling a barrel roll before she draws even with him.]

[He laughs when he spots her spinning on one of the screens, pleased. Not to be outdone -- because he's hers, but that doesn't mean he's not going to show off for her, against her -- he pushes the nose of the shuttle up, up, up, and executes a loop that leaves his head spinning.]

Whoa.

[The press and pull of artificial gravity is something to get used to, with these ships and shuttles, but to Furiosa it's not much different than driving through a sandstorm; adapt, prepare.]

[And she's not one to be outdone by a Warboy; she levels out for a moment, and then pulls a sharp angle and guns it through the center of his loop. It pushes her back against the seat; it was definitely different than running a wheeled vehicle. In a continued effort to learn the controls, she pushes down and about, then pulls up and tries to find him to pull even again.]

Ready when you are, Warboy!

[Nux laughs again, but her maneuver puts him back into Game Mode, and the smile drops off his face as he pushes the throttle, pulls on the yoke, and pitches the shuttle forward to pull ahead of her. He leans forward into it, eyes narrowing, all intent competition now.]

[Yup, it's definitely go-time. It's a bit of a gamble, since there is the hierarchy aspect of this little jaunt, and the fact that she's really not used to driving in Zero-G. She's got some idea what to do thanks to her augment, but to really push the shuttle into getting the desired results is going to take some risk.

Which of course she's more than willing to do. She lets Nux pull ahead, but then she kicks her throttles into fullblast.]

[He glances over at her, close enough to be in his sights. This time, when he grins, there's no humor in it; just intent. He pushes ahead a little further, trying to see if he can get in front of her and cut her off, the way she had done to him on his first jaunt into space.]

[She tips her head down slightly and turns her attention back forward. Warboys. This is a challenge she's used to, and not used to losing. The vehicles may be different and the road pretty much nonexistent, but it's still the same old battle.

She jerks back on the throttle and rolls to the side as he cuts her off, and then pitches down and guns it again. The benefit of maneuvering is space is the ability to cut under someone as well as over. It's turning into an a gressive bid for lead position and she's not giving up easily.]

[From his point of view, she simply vanishes for a moment. He pauses, caught off-guard, blank until he realizes what she actually did. By then, she's got the lead, but he growls and floors it, dashing forward after her.]

Need to hook this thing up with some nitrous. Then it'll really fly.

[She swerves to the right, hoping to cut off his pass and keep him on her tail, and can't help but chuckle at his comment.

And really, when had she enjoyed the ride like this? As much as she's still tied up in maintaining the hierarchy with Nux, she's loosening up and actually enjoying the ride for what it was.]

That's a lot of nitrous.

Understood. And hey, at least you've got the best security around.

[ Of course it might be difficult for a grown woman to take that seriously coming from a supposed child, but nobody can argue with his augment.

But man. One captain out and one in with no fanfare, huh? Harsh gig over here. ]

...Do we even have any engineers now?

[She's from a society where the young were forced to grew up fast; it's not that strange to her.]

No, we don't, but I know my way around a wrench. We should be alright. [Because a spaceship is totally like a tripped out semi, right?]

If nothing else, I'm sure someone from another ship wouldn't mind lending their assistance if you wanted. Maybe for a trade.

Mm. That's definitely a good idea. I'll have to look into it.
