[Jennifer smiles shyly as she addresses the Fleet; leadership and interacting with people on a broad scale was something she'd grown into on Atlantis, but upon arriving on the Drift Fleet, she'd drawn back into her shell a lot. It was a defense mechanism, given that nobody was familiar here, and she wasn't in the position of leading an entire department as she had been back home.

But she was starting to get tired of hiding, too, and knew she had valuable skills to offer others. So, here she was.]

I see we've had a lot of new faces around here lately. I'd like to introduce myself- I'm Dr. Jennifer Keller of the Wonderduck, and my ship's medbay is always open for people who need it. And in that vein, I've decided I'm going to be offering some first aid lessons. I feel like it would be a big plus for people to learn, so in case there's another crisis, they can take care of themselves if need be- or at least put themselves together well enough for a trained medic to finish it up.

So please- if you're interested in learning, just let me know.

Either way, I would be interested in first aid. I think? [ She's....not actually sure what first aid is but she loves to learn. ]

I have no magic, actually- just my own hands and knowhow. I've been told I'm good at what I do, though. [She smiled.]

Good- it would be just basic things like bandaging a wound and slowing or stopping bleeding and the like, but they're valuable skills for anyone to know.

Oh! How strange. I would like to learn that if you will teach me.

[ Nodding; this is exciting. She likes healing, likes learning. This is good. ]

Strange? [She was curious now.] Do you have magic in your world? I don't, so I have to use other methods- and I figured people would want to know, so they can help each other.

[Wanda's expression is a little bashful as her communication feed opens.]

I believe I could use some of your first aid training.

[Her eyes drift downward slowly to the scar on her leg. She does not mean to draw Jennifer's attention to it, but she is certain that Dr. Keller will realize why she's asking for the lessons.]

I'd be glad to have you aboard. I'd feel better knowing more people could do the basics.

Yes, knowing the basics would be very helpful. I do not know if I would be able to master much more than that. Could you remind which ship you are on?

I'm on the Wonderduck. And that's fine- I don't expect everyone to become a surgeon in a few weeks. I feel like it would also help morale, since not every ship has a medbay.

[Phedre had learned some small healing practices in her travels, but nothing that seemed to apply here beyond keep the wounds clean and let them breathe as best she could. The items used for healing were just.. different.

Knowing some small measure of how to practice at least a touch of what she learned could only be useful.]

Excuse me, my lady. If you have some time, I would appreciate such tutelage.

Absolutely- it's why I offered. Do you have any sort of medical training?

I have some small experience with battlefield care, but nothing to the standards or amenities of our fleet and nothing formal.

[She rather hoped that wouldn't be a problem.]

That won't be any trouble- everybody has to start somewhere, right? I wouldn't expect anyone to walk away doing surgery, but dressing wounds and stopping bleeding doesn't require much specialized skill.

Well, thank you, but I can't take all the credit for that- we've got some great doctors and healers keeping us all in shape.

Can't say I meant many of them, I don't reckon. I don't tend to get in bad shape often. Or ever.

[While no one has nearly died recently that he is aware, it gets harder and harder to deny the fact that knowing things like that could be invaluable some day. Especially if his luck continued to be the way it was]

How involved is this training?

I'd adjust it to everyone's individual skill level, but it wouldn't be anything too complex. Disinfection, bandaging, setting broken bones, that sort of thing.

I know you don't remember the time in Paradisa, but I would be honored to begin lessons with you again on modern medicine. I have been relying on my field medicine and my Healing Gift, which I think might not be enough in case of crisis.

I would be happy to- and you're right, it may usually be enough, but I'd like to be as prepared as possible. We never know what Atroma's gonna throw at us next.

Indeed. I have been deprived of my powers more than once. Knowing the skills without the magic could well be very important.

I wouldn't mind some lessons actually. I've got the augment, but I'm still trying to figure everything out.

And an augment definitely can't replace hands-on experience.

Does your ship have a medbay?

No, it definitely can't. [It's a good foundation, but Elena's still worried she might panic and blank. The last thing she wants to do is fall back on her blood and out herself.] It does. I've learned my way around it, at least.
