[As weird as Shawn's world was, it was never this weird. Instead of waking up in his apartment, where he should be, he's in some giant ship - and none of it feels real. This can't be real life. It just can't.

He's not on the giant ship for long, though: he finds himself beamed (like space sci-fi beamed??) onto a new place, with confetti and chocolate pudding that looks kinda suspect - but he'll eat it, food is food. Still blowing the confetti out of his face, he'll wander around, taking photos along the way. Every single one's uploaded to the Fleet, and well- there's gonna be an abundance of artsy photos, from various places on the Marsiva to the stations around the SS Golden. (People are optional.)

About an hour after the last one, Shawn's settled in the kitchen and he's fiddled enough with the comm device to realize that he goofed. Big-time. So when the feed clicks on, he looks more apologetic than usual.]

Look, I don't know how I got here - and normally? I'd be kinda down with living in outer space and being on some reality show. Problem is, I'm about to go to college, and I worked too hard to throw all of that away for... whatever this is.

[Making a face, though he's not quite aware of it:] Since I'm stuck here until God-knows-when, is there any way I can call home? Or figure out if anyone else I know's along for the ride? Thanks, uh, and sorry about all the photos earlier. I'm still kinda new to this thing.

Those photos were yours? I actually thought they were pretty good.

[He leans in a little closer, before realizing he's plenty close - but he can't help it. This girl looks really familiar. He's not sure why, because he knows they've never met, but...]

Hey, um... [He bites on his lip.] This is gonna sound weird, but are you related to a guy named Cory Matthews?

Really?

[Stay focused, Shawn, a cute girl complimenting you is no big deal, especially since you're dating Angela. Remember Angela.] Thanks! I've been working at a lab this past year, so I was hoping they'd turn out good.

Just uh, didn't realize I sent them to everyone.

Yeees?

[It's kind of a squeak of surprise because OH SHE'S NOT THE ONLY PERSON HAVING RECOGNITION STUFF HERE. But she's only had Uncle Shawn in two memories before and they were five minute long this at best, forgive her.]

He's my dad.

They remind me of some professional shots I've seen. Especially that sweet shot of the Marsiva's windows looking out into space. [ Spoilers, she took almost the exact same shot when she arrived. ]

[And now it's Cory's turn to stare in disbelief, with a weird mix of emotions. It's Shawn alright... but he looks like he stepped out of some ancient time capsule. He's a baby again.]

No... no way...

Shawn...!

[But overall, he feels overwhelmingly happy just to see him.]

[His face's almost as red as a tomato right now.] Th-thanks.

I couldn't help that one, really - when you looked right outside, it was so peaceful-looking. I've never been in outer space before, but I kinda wonder if this was how the astronauts felt.

Your dad? [Now there's a funny thought. Shawn tries (and fails) to stifle a laugh, because Cory? A father??? Psh, no, he can't even get Topanga to go to third base.]

I'm sorry, kid, but that can't be right. See, where I'm from, Cory and I're eighteen. There's no way you could be his kid, unless you're like, from the future.

But... He is. I'm Riley Matthews. [THIS IS ONE THING SHE KNOWS TO BE TRUE. Or believes in that Cory has told her she is here, okay. She's Rainbow Lark and Riley Matthews and they're the same person. But wow dad was eighteen once???]

Wait.

Does that make you Uncle Shawn?

CORY!

[He would know that voice anywhere. Shawn can't help breathing a sigh of relief - thank God he's not alone in this. Something about this seems a bit off, though...]

[Maybe it's the camera. Has to be, though Shawn pulls his bangs back just in case it's something faulty on his end. For one thing, Cory's his age. They've always been the same age.]

Uh, Cor... I'm sure this is a trick of the camera or something, but how come you look older than when I left you?

Sorry, man, you're stuck here for the ride, or until Atroma decides to send you back.

[He's still not certain they DO go back, he can but hope from what his trip home has told him. ]

But if it helps? Most of the crews here stick close, become a little family all of our own, y'know?

[Or at least that's how it goes on the Blue Fish. ]

[It's been a crazy last week or so, everything considered--first the attack, and now their arrival on this new planet. But, well, might as well make the best of things...and up until now Megaman has been making a lot of trips back and forth between the Golden and the dust moon's nearest town, poking about for parts and pieces that they've been lacking in repairing the Golden's more recent damages.

And so he's out when Shawn arrives, initially--but he is back around the same time that Shawn might end up wandering into the engine room of the Golden, over the course of his picture-taking. It's probably an interesting room to look at, after all--everything inside is currently organized to an impressive degree of neatness, and there's star charts pinned up all over the walls for some reason, as well as a telescope's blueprint spread out on the table...and an assortment of engineer's tools already laid out.

A handful of those tools is what Megaman is after, actually, wandering over preoccupied--but, spotting somebody already in the room, he pauses at the doorway, a bit startled. Don't mind the small aggressively blue-clad and helmeted kid over here, you know, it's just...]

Oh, hello. Can I, uh, can I help you?

Nnno? Maybe? I don't know.

[Mostly because while he figured Cory and Topanga were going to have kids some day, he didn't expect to meet one of them this quickly.] Was your Uncle Shawn also a Shawn Hunter?

[He figured as much, in regards to sticking around - but he pauses a bit at the idea of creating a family.]

Thanks, man. I'll keep that in mind. [Funny thing is, he wasn't concerned about his family until now. Mostly because he wasn't tethered to anyone besides Cory.]

Though, uh speaking of "Atroma" - who are they? I've never heard of them before.

[The room's impressive - and as Shawn takes it all in, memorizing the room's layout and what he would possibly need, it hits him that this is unfamiliar territory. He barely passed math in high school, and he maybe scraped a C- in Physics. This augment was maybe not meant for him.

An unfamiliar voice is enough to bring him back from reality (and out of his self-induced angst). Shawn blinks, turning to face... well, he's not sure who he's facing. Did he miss a memo? Are those their uniforms??]

Uh, maybe.

[Shawn coughs, regaining his composure. The confetti, unfortunately, has not entirely disappeared; it sticks to his hair and leather jacket, no matter how often he tries to shake it off.] There was confetti, and music - and pudding. Really good-tasting pudding, too. I think that means I'm assigned to this ship?

If so, then uh, I'm Shawn, and I'm your newest engineer. [Still sounds weird to him, no matter how many times he says it. Shawn holds out his hand expectantly - it's rude to not shake hands, right? Not gonna make a bad impression on the first day!]

[Kinda looks like a deer caught in the headlights because it's not like she knows his last name. She barely remembers his name-- or him. And so she opens her mouth, closes it, squeaks, tries again.]

Yees? You come over for Christmas and dad's practically married to you.

Wow, we need an actual newbie help guide or something. They're the guys running this show. The people who kidnap us from our homes, throw augments into our heads and dump us into crazy space shenanigans.

[He gives a shrug. ]

None of us have seen them, though. We just hear some of their cronies every couple weeks or so, and they never respond to anything we ask them.

[Welp, that seals the deal.

So well, in fact, that Shawn falls off his chair with a pretty loud THUD. Outer space probably heard it. He groans, pulling himself back up.]

Yeah... yeah, I guess I am.

[He pauses, acting as if that drop had never happened:] So, uh, Riley. I know uncles're supposed to be cool and bring you presents, but I just found out you existed, so... IOU?

[SQUEAKS.]

Are you okay?

[Because you're not supposed to fall over. She kind of fidgets back with her hands, making a face before shaking her head.] It's okay... I can't really be upset at anyone for not knowing who someone is.

[Well, all of that sounds pretty... grand.]

What are you going to university for?

[James figures that all of those questions have probably already been answered, and he's curious. Besides, normalcy helped him when he first arrived on board. Aimless chit-chat is better than focusing on the bad stuff.]

As okay as I'll ever be. [Biting an "ow" on the back of his tongue - those floors are harder than he expected.

He pauses, now taking a closer look at her, and actually smiling as he finds pieces of Cory in her; she's got a lot of his best friend in him.] Hey, has anyone ever told you.... that you're kinda like Cory? But with your mom's hair?

[TOPANGA HAD BETTER BE HER MOM, or he will have words with that ski lodge. Very not-so-nice words.]

Oh! Photography, if I can get into the program.

[Shawn brings out his camera and holds it up - it's a model from the late 90's, and definitely smaller by wizarding camera standards.] Beyond that, not sure. You get a couple of years before you have to pick a major.

[In other words, he has successfully landed in the middle of a sci-fi reality show. Once it hits him that this is real, and not some weird food-induced dream, he'll panic - but right now, he nods as if this were normal.]

Nah, I would've read half of it and then wondered why I didn't know stuff.

[At the mention of an augment, he reaches for the back of his neck, trying to feel for it...] So okay, if we're on a reality show, do we get paid? And uh, do our augments actually work?

Mine keeps telling me I'm an engineer, and lemme tell you. Building things? Not even remotely in my court.
