Who: Nagisa Motomiya and you!?
Broadcast: fleetwide video!
Action: Marsiva, skipping around and exploring the hospitality deck.
When: Now!

[When she first wakes up, it's with a start—there's a yelp when she realizes that she's not where she should be, and she falls out of bed with a loud crash, followed by an "oww..." The backdrop is one that people might find familiar since it's the SS Marsiva, and she just seems concerned and confused.]

It hurts... what's going on!? I don't remember anything like this...

[Wait, memories. She does a mental check, only to sigh with relief. She definitely!! Still remembers everything!! She pulls herself up, dusting off her dress and straightening the bow in her hair, before she realizes that something's being broadcast. The feeling of the camera being focused on you is something familiar when you're an idol, after all! She takes a shot in the dark then, hoping that someone can hear her or something, because this is super confusing and she's not even sure who could be there.]

Uhm! Hello! Is anyone there? Could someone tell me what's going on? My name is Nagisa Motomiya, and it's really nice to meet whoever you are, if you can see or hear me. I'd really appreciate anything you can tell me. So, please!

[And of course, for those aboard the Marsiva, she can be found wandering the hospitality deck as she tries to sort out her way around. If she runs into you, she'll give a friendly wave and say hello.]

A video feed. Somewhat archaic, but it'll do. He doubts anyone from the Republic will be nearby, but perhaps the locals will offer some aid. Obi-Wan clears his throat before speaking. It's time for his other skill set to come in use. ]

Greetings. My name is General Kenobi. To whom do I have the pleasure of addressing? And I don't suppose there is someone willing to answer my questions? Because I have a great deal many of them.

Happy New Year, everyone! Who all's planning to stay up the night to greet the new year properly?

What does everyone do in their world to celebrate the new year? Or I guess your culture, since even in my world, it depended on where you lived. What my family did back home was usually a big shrine visit for the new year. It's usually pretty crowded at this time of year, since everyone else is doing the same thing, but isn't that part of the fun in being there? They also let you pull some fortunes to see your luck for the upcoming year. There are lots of traditional foods to be eaten at this time of year, too.

Oh, it doesn't end there, either! We have a tradition where you can predict your luck for the year by the first dream you have in the new year, too! If you dream of Mt. Fuji, a hawk, and an eggplant, the year will be really lucky for you! ...Though a lot of people won't know what I'm talking about if I say Mt. Fuji...

[Uzuki claps her hands a little here.]

Then, an inactive volcano! I think the meaning goes something like... The volcano symbolizes safety, the hawk symbolizes reaching a great height, and the eggplant symbolizes achieving something great?

Well, I haven't seen any of them in a dream, myself... I once had a dream about a sparrow eating rice on a hill, though!

Then, I guess I have two questions for everyone, along with what you do where you're from for the new year! It would be great if people can come back to this later and say what they dreamed for the first dream of the new year, too!

Has everyone gotten used to the new setups for the ships yet? Personally, I'm just glad to be able to get back to work. The Marsiva was a bit of a vacation, but I always feel a bit uncomfortable if I'm not able to be doing something to push forward. Is there anyone else like that?

More importantly than that, eveyrone, look at what's changed for the Golden!

[Yep, this is why she used video this time: Everyone gets to see the Golden's new color scheme, as well as the triangular closets, random cubbies, and dipping corners.]

Personally, I think it's kind of cute! It kind of reminds me being backstage too, so the Golden feels a lot more comfortable now. So, what does everyone else's ship look like? What do you think about it?

[There's a moment where it looks like she's about to end it, before she stops, and...]

...Oh! Also, this part isn't for everyone here in the fleet, but the viewers at home. Since you're all probably watching this, why don't you send answers for the questions, too? How do you like all the ships' new looks? Which look do you like best? We're going to keep doing our best, so please, enjoy yourselves!

[Uzuki kind of stops here and you can hear her head hitting something for a second while she's laughing.]

I'm sorry Ranko-chan, I can't do it like you after all.

[After she's... managed to recover a bit, she starts speaking again.]

Anyways, um, happy halloween everyone! It's not something that's celebrated all that much where I come from, but some of my friends like it, so I thought it would be a good time! The other part of this is that I'm going to be testing out the radio system here, so if things go right, there should be streaming across one frequency, while I can communicate with this on another. Something will probably go wrong, but that's what testing is for, right?

If you want to take a listen, you can find it on...

[And then she gives a frequency for people to use, as long as a step-by-step guide on how to turn your communicator to listen to it, just in case.

...in the reaches of space? How ironic.

[ This network station appears to have switched on of its own accord. That or the two people standing next to it wanted to only broadcast part of their conversation. And just their torsos. And hands. The taller person is making a fist. ]

That’s not the word I would use to describe it. [ The shorter one places a hand over that fist. ] They can look after each other.

...I suppose. [ Their fingers intertwine. The taller person’s thumb strokes the side of their companion’s hand. They chuckle. ] Space won’t be so cold. If you’re there.

[ That’s a quiet laugh, and the other one is leaning in and up.

...Better interrupt this sappiness before somebody gets diabetes and/or they magically pretend it didn’t happen on tape. ]

[ Later this same day, from this same broadcast station, another message comes through. This time, there’s a pair of faces on display: a blond “man” and a green-haired lady. Both are way more attractive than they have any right to be. Especially when smiling. ]

Hello. I’m Kaioh Michiru. [ This is not the face of a person who was caught being all PDA on camera. ] If anybody can tell us what this place is, we would be most appreciative.

Tenoh Haruka. [ The blond sticks a hand into “his” pocket. ] Don’t take all day now. We’re busy.

I'm transferring the information needed to the engineers now. Aside from that, if there's anyone that can play the piano, could you help me with something? I've been trying to up some scores for music from memory during the bouts of insomnia, but I'm pretty sure there are some mistakes in there, and I can't play an instrument well enough to check if they're right.

When: Post-Shuffle!

[Zuko has done a pretty fabulous job of not flipping out, to be honest. He's interacted with some people aboard the Marsiva and has narrowed down the possibilities to two. 1) The Animus have launched an event that's completely eradicated the old universe and dropped them into a spaceship reality show (which, honestly, is a possibility) or 2) Zuko has been pulled from Adstringendum and is now in a new splintered universe.

After working that out, Zuko is now on a different ship, and while the teenager on camera looks fairly calm and collected, those who know Zuko know he's about two seconds from turning the desk he's sitting on into a pile of charcoal and using it as anger management therapy.

Someone didn't appreciate being doused in confetti and having a celebratory chocolate thrust upon him.

Give him a moment or two before he heaves a massive sigh.]

Two things.

[Zuko totally did not rehearse what he was going to say before he elected to talk to the entire fleet.]

One -- I guess I'm stuck here until I figure out...how to get back to wherever I came from. This is all probably going away in a week anyway... So -- has anyone figured out how to get off the ships? Are we trapped on whatever...these things are until whoever is running the show decides to send us home?

And two, is the Avatar here?

Um, hi. I'm Kate, and I'm... new. That sounds dumb.

[And awkward as hell. This feels like her first day of high school all over again, only instead of introducing herself to a tiny class of teenagers she's got to say hello to an entire fleet of people from different worlds. Not a lot makes sense about it, but she's trying her best to roll with the punches. Kate's had a little bit of time to get used to things, to get a good idea what's in store for her here, but it's still left her with some questions.]

I guess you could probably tell. I was just wondering, though, because it seems like these ships have been around for awhile and everyone's so used to all this, and-

[She's rambling. She stops, shakes her head, tries again.]

I just wanted to know how long people have been here, that's all.

[The Golden]

[Okay, so all that pudding? That's definitely something Kate is interested in eating. She's even got a spoon she'd found after sorting through drawers, and it's been months since she had pudding, okay.

But is it for her? Can she just take it? If Seth were here he'd have pulled up a chair and put his feet up and told her to get to eating the entire stash, but Kate likes to think she's at least a little nicer than Seth is.

So she's just kind of standing there. Looking at the pudding. Hopefully.]

[Dusty Moon Place]

[Her first stop once she tries heading to the moon is what's very obviously a chapel. She's drawn to it like a moth to a flame and anyone who might head inside after her will find her sitting in the very front row, head tilted down and eyes closed as she prays. She has a lot to say to God, but more to ask, and it's mostly protection. For her family, Seth, even Richie. Her hands are clasped tightly in her lap, but if she hears someone approach she'll look up and give them a smile.]

He's not on the giant ship for long, though: he finds himself beamed (like space sci-fi beamed??) onto a new place, with confetti and chocolate pudding that looks kinda suspect - but he'll eat it, food is food. Still blowing the confetti out of his face, he'll wander around, taking photos along the way. Every single one's uploaded to the Fleet, and well- there's gonna be an abundance of artsy photos, from various places on the Marsiva to the stations around the SS Golden. (People are optional.)

About an hour after the last one, Shawn's settled in the kitchen and he's fiddled enough with the comm device to realize that he goofed. Big-time. So when the feed clicks on, he looks more apologetic than usual.]

Look, I don't know how I got here - and normally? I'd be kinda down with living in outer space and being on some reality show. Problem is, I'm about to go to college, and I worked too hard to throw all of that away for... whatever this is.

[Making a face, though he's not quite aware of it:] Since I'm stuck here until God-knows-when, is there any way I can call home? Or figure out if anyone else I know's along for the ride? Thanks, uh, and sorry about all the photos earlier. I'm still kinda new to this thing.

Good day - evening, perhaps? It is so hard to tell on the ships.

I was wondering, as we travel to our new destination, if any one would wish to share the music of their home worlds with me? Music has always been a passion of mine, and I feel that the music of a world tells a much deeper story than simply words. I would appreciate, and be honored, to hear yours.

[ For those who are aboard the Starstruck, he is sitting in what counts as his room, strumming the guitar though the tune itself is something that is more at home in a medieval king's court than it is aboard a sleek spaceship - or even on a guitar. Everyone, there's something I've been meaning to talk to you all about. We've got all these fancy systems and all, so I was thinking... You know what we need? A radio. It's probably not going to be anything big for the time being, but we should be able to handle a few hours every day at about the same time so that people can know to tune in and listen.

That being said! There's one major problem with that... I don't exactly have a lot of music anymore, so I thought I would ask around, too. Does anyone have any music with them that I could put together for the daily radio? If anyone has any experience in music production, we could see if we can put together a studio on the Iskaulit to help make some music ourselves. Then we could reproduce music from our worlds so that everyone else could hear them, too!

So? Is anyone interested in helping out? We could use some engineers, so that we can set it up to run the radio automatically, too. Then we would just need to add the music into the system and occasionally do some MCing.

[It hasn't even been a week, but the jingle announcing the Shuffle chimes out from every speaker. And your host's voice follows quickly, sounding just as bright and confident as she has all month.]

Good morning, dear passengers! Are you ready for another Drift Fleet Shuffle and letter from your adoring fans? I know I sure am! What a lovely, lovely month this has been-- an impromptu summer vacation you could say. We will all be so sad when it's over.

Even the influx and departure of passengers has been lazy this week. It's barely a ripple in the water.

Oh-- and don't you worry about those minor malfunctions we've been experiencing. Our technicians have them almost squared away, I'm sure. Not that I've heard many of you complaining, however...

[She breathes a knowing little chuckle before she continues, and there is a rustle of paper near the microphone to signal the upcoming fan letter.]

Now, this letter comes to us written on lovely blue paper. It really fits the theme. I wish you all could see it.

Ahem, "dear Drift Fleet, I have been watching you for several cycles now, and I wanted to say that I've been enjoying the camaraderie that the passengers have been showing this cycle, but it still doesn't compare to the ninth. Are we going to be disappointed again? I'm concerned that these passengers don't have any drive. So, my question to each passenger is, what is your motivation to win? Why do you think you are going to win the Drift Fleet?"

[And Diamond just can't help but take a big, thrilled breath upon the conclusion of the letter.]

--Well! What a good question! It's one that I think we've all been wondering for some time now, so please... do tell us all why you are the one that has what it takes to win.

And remember, the worlds are watching!

[Once again, the broadcast silences but the line is left open and waiting.]

Good morning, dear passengers! I hope you are all enjoying the sunshine on your shoulders and the sand between your toes. Don't forget your sunscreen, though... there's no telling what sorts of silly things a foreign sun might do to your skin!

Also, we apologize for any little hiccups in the functionality of some of your augments--there are a few harmless technical difficulties that are being resolved as we speak. So, if anyone is feeling a little funny, there is absolutely nothing to worry about. Just relax, and it should be resolved in no time.

As for the Shuffle, I hope you're all not too busy with your summertime fun to take time and welcome this week's batch of new faces, as well as congratulate Captain Matthews on his promotion!

[Oh, remember that scattered, distant laughter and applause? It's back! All must be right with the worlds.]

And since last week was such a big hit-- here is another letter from some lucky audience member!

[She clears her throat.]

"Hello! Long-time watcher, first-time writer, here... and I'm always just so impressed by the crazy skills and hilarious backstories of the passengers. I was wondering, if each passenger could share one piece of advice with us, what would it be?"

--Well! You heard them, folks. Your audience awaits your answers! Make them good.

[And then, just before she signs off, she leaves one last hurried warning.]

Finally, be sure to jettison your temporary, Atroma-licensed, land-and-sea recreational outfits before the fleet leaves this system's range!

And remember, the worlds are watching!

Like... how do they feel Do you think they were worth the price? Have you had any problems with them, or anything? Do you keep them a secret from your crewmates? That kind of thing. I'd like to know as much as I can about that kind of thing, if possible. As things are, I don't really feel too confident in how they work, so I thouhgt I should ask around, first.

If you want it to keep a secret, I can do what I can to keep the messages private. I am a communications officer after all.

[For about a week, now, all ships in the Drift Fleet have had clearance to land on the Blue Planet whenever they'd like. The humanoid natives have all been very open and sociable, nothing short of grateful that the Iskaulit is no longer sending pods down to raid their towns and infect their insectoid brothers.

At first, the Nunnilis themselves stayed very quiet, hiding for safety... But as word of a stable cure spreads through the islands, more and more of them have been spotted out in the open. Now, it's not so unusual to spot a couple of them helping with repairs, and many have been assisting passengers in curing their sickly kin.

Have you been looking for a chance to talk to one? A lot of basic information has already been passed through the Fleet, but perhaps you're looking to ask your own questions about the situation, offer condolences, or just get to know a little more about the Nunnilis themselves. They seem perfectly friendly in their own strange, dozen-limbed way, so there's no time like the present!]

Good morning, dear passengers! It looks like you're all enjoying summer as much as we are, hmm? All that beautiful weather, and... goodness... your summer outfits have kept us all talking. Ratings have been quite good.

[A sigh that definitely sounds on the dreamy, pleased side of things.]

As far as the Shuffle goes, it seems that faces are coming and going at a lazy summertime pace. We've lost one captain this week, but Captain Terran is taking over the helm.

And since there is nothing else to report-- [Because why would she comment on any of the serious topics going on] --it's time for a little fan mail! With children all home from school, summer is our busiest time for letters.

[To prove that there is a letter to read, the sound of unfolding paper crinkles somewhere very close to the microphone.]

"Dear Drift Fleet, I love the show! My favorite ships are the Bishop and the Golden! I hope someone from those crews win at the end. I wanted to know, if the ships were people, what would each one be like? Which ones would get along and which ones would fight? Who would have crushes on each other?"

--Goodness! What a fascinating question. This sounds like one for you to answer, dear passengers. Please, tell us your thoughts!

[After weeks of relative silence, our intrepid passengers finally travel within visual range of a blue planet. Marsiva's slow-and-steady course makes it clear that this is the Drift Fleet's next destination--but just as your ships come within scanning range and your computers begin to gather data, a fleet of quick little watchdog ships zip out of the planet's atmosphere, heading straight for you!

They do not swoop in for an attack, but hold their positions between you and the planet. They look close enough to cause some trouble, and any working Communications Officer can tell you that they have weapons locked on the Fleet in warning.

The tell-tale sound of an incoming hailing frequency chimes over your ship's alert system. Someone would like you to pick up the phone. Thanks to their augment, all passengers instinctively know that they'll be looking for the Captain or the Communications Officer of the ship--but no one says someone else can't pick it up first.

On the bridge, the hailing frequency can be viewed on screen, along with the attached subject: "Identify yourselves." The notification chime goes off every seven seconds. These ships don't look like they're going anywhere, but they don't want to be kept waiting, either.

What do you do? Will you accept the frequency?]
