Who: anyone who wants to watch this loser build some terrible construction out of dubious food material
Broadcast: Fleetwide
Action: SS Caprine
When: September 20, evening
[ What's this? The camera shows the view of the table in the galley.
Someone offscreen is painstakingly constructing....something on a plate, cutting up solids to serve as the construction material. They don't appear to care what flavour it is, only that it's being carefully chopped into bricks and co-opted for the noble purposes of construction.
Occasionally there's movement from the edge of the screen, footsteps to and from the table, and the sound of the protein machine dispensing more of randomly-chosen foodstuff. Gel is carefully layered onto the small, solid 'bricks' of food to create a kind of mortar, and sticks of solid are pressed into service and shaped to provide appropriate support.
It holds solidly together, enough that whatever this person is building is taking shape quite quickly. It appears to be, when it's done...
Some kind of pixel imitation of a spaceship. Thrusters, fins, and all.
They sit back, turning the camera towards them, to reveal someone who doesn't look very human. The camera passes by an untouched plate of dessert cream. ]
I think I used every flavour to make this.[ He motions to the spaceship model on the plate. ] Go ahead and eat it if you want.
[ He sounds bored. After a moment, he stands, picks up the communicator and turns it off. ]

video; HERE WE GO....
Ah...hey, Megaman.
Something wrong? [ He sounds genuinely puzzled, too. ]
flamingelmo.gif
S-Something wrong? [WHY ARE YOU REFERRING TO HIM SO CASUALLY...why are you asking that so casually..... It enough to catch him a bit off-guard, but after a moment he leans into his indignation a bit more in an attempt to make up for the confusion. Ah, he needs to be careful, he's probably just getting strung along here--] Yeah, I think there's something wrong! What are you doing here? [FOLDING HIS ARMS NOW] Is your Operator here too?
no subject
It's not like I asked to be here, so why don't you complain to the ship. Like it'll do you any good.
[ That last question, though, catches him off guard. ]
If he was here, do you think I'd be messing around like this? I have to take care of him, so it's not like I'd leave him alone! [ The first thing he'd done had been look for his operator. The last few words of that phrase are almost a snap. ]
no subject
[And...Megaman does falter now, for a moment. The vehemence is actually slightly more familiar than the earlier casualness had been, too, so that should have been more like some kind of relief--but no, it just doesn't parse quite right. Elecman sounds less flippantly offended and more personally so, and that's a bit...
A small voice in the back of his head knows that maybe he is being just slightly illogical here. The first question had been a kneejerk one--how else could have Elecman gotten all the way out here in space if he hadn't been pulled here just like anyone else? And of course, with that in mind, the chances of him actually arriving with his Operator are even more slim...
But the last thing he remembers about this guy is that whole business with the basement and the power plant at SciLab. It's difficult to forget, a Navi's perfect memory besides. And he remembers another WWW member too, seemingly mellowed out and ready enough to redeem--until he'd set the entire SciLab on fire with Dad in it. And he'd made Lan unwittingly set that up, too...
Megaman pauses, shifting uncomfortably from his end of the feed, but the frown remains firmly in place.]
--Alright, so I guess you probably got taken here by Atroma too. [Even if he couldn't guess why...what's entertaining about cyber terrorists?? He certainly doesn't know.] But--but even if your Operator isn't here, and the WWW isn't either, don't think I won't be keeping an eye on you! I haven't forgotten what you pulled last time, and this is definitely not the place for it!
no subject
Keep an eye on me if you want, but we've both got better things to be doing, I'm sure. [ His voice is stubbornly monotone, now, like he's trying to push down his emotions. He's succeeding, at least in tone of voice, but his body language is -- well, defensive, is the only word for it. His arms are crossed, but his back's not quite straight, and his shoulders are hunched. ] Whatever. Go ahead, then. You'll be bored soon enough, anyway.
no subject
Ah, what does he do? Leave it here? He would have asked Lan that. But Lan isn't here, and it's just him, and he...doesn't know. The surprisingly neutral response only cements that, really, because it would have been a lot easier if it had been confrontational instead. He'd been waiting for that! And it wasn't...happening....
Megaman, for his part, looks increasingly uncomfortable now; he never was very good at hiding his own feelings in general, and the confusion is beginning to show up more and more clearly. That's it? Elecman's going to just...walk away? The last Elecman he'd run into wouldn't have--]
Yeah, we probably do have better things to be doing! That's what I'm-- [WHY DOES HE FEEL SO BAD GOD WHAT IS EVEN GOING ON HERE he just can't put his finger on it...by all rights he should be just as happy to end things about here, but.] Look, don't--being bored doesn't have anything to do with it! I really haven't forgotten, alright? I can't forgive you guys so easily anymore...and what you tried to do to those people in the SciLab basement was really bad. I just don't know if you won't do the same thing here!
no subject
Basement? I've never been to Scilabs, though. Not on WWW business, not for anything else. [ Look at all that confusion. He really has no idea what's going on.
After a moment, he heaves a sigh, and shrugs. It's a movement that sets motors whirring and spinning. Quite complex, apparently. ] I don't know what you're talking about.
>> FILTERED LMAO oh my god;
[And here he was getting ready for a form of reply that...never actually comes. Again. He'd been expecting some kind of acknowledgment at least, but the blank confusion there is just...
That looks way too genuine. But that also wouldn't make any sense at all. This kind of flat-out denial...could he really be lying?
But what else could it be? Megaman shifts, reaches to tweak something on the comm, and the filter sets into place on the conversation. Then he draws back, folding his arms and settling into a harder frown now.]
How could you say that? There's no way you could have forgotten about it--lying isn't really going to help you here! [ALRIGHT MAYBE GETTING KIND OF UPSET ABOUT THIS AGAIN....] You and your Operator, you guys broke into that SciLab party so you could steal the electricity program for WWW! You even said so! You shut off all the power in there, including the air vents too--people could have suffocated down there!
WELL OK MEGAMAN...
But if it didn't happen, then I can't remember it now, can I? [ He scowls a little, but his heart isn't in it. He rubs at his arm, absentmindedly, a kind of unsettled tic he'd picked up from his operator a while back. ] We didn't ever get a mission like that. Our orders were to cause chaos, that's all. [ Not that it's a small thing, but he's honest. ]
LOOK.......
[Ah, he hates to consider it, but Elecman is right. There really shouldn't be any reason for him to lie about that sort of thing, especially if they both know it's happened. But then that would mean...what does that mean?
There's too much to be feeling at once and not enough space to put all of it, honestly--Megaman finds himself having to put the sharper indignation a bit more to the wayside, if only so he can peer with genuine half-offended confusion at the feed now.]
--Well, I don't have a reason to be lying either! But that was definitely you, in there. I know it was. So why... [He rubs at a point under his jaw now, his own little nervous tic, but this one's his own. One of those human tics that kind of carried over...] W-What do you mean, cause chaos? I'm pretty sure you guys were supposed to steal programs, like that electricity one. And you did, so that Dr. Wily could build the Life Virus! Or are you saying he didn't do that, either?
no subject
He shakes his head. Wrong again. ] He didn't build anything like that. He's done a lot of things, but creating a 'Life Virus' wasn't one of them.
I guess it might be another parallel universe phenomena...
no subject
But, like this, we can't--we can't both be right... [...Can they? A handful of months back, and it would have been the most basic kind of logic to draw--but now, in a place like this, with somebody like Atroma hanging around....Megaman suddenly isn't quite so certain, and that tilts even into his first statement.
His hand moves up from his jaw to the edge of one of his earpieces instead, eyebrows furrowing. At least Elecman seems to know who Wily is, thank goodness, but--no Life Virus? What? But then...wait. He just barely catches that last line, and Megaman leans forward a bit despite himself.]
Wait, might be like what?
no subject
Ah...a while back, there were some incidents with portals that led to a parallel universe. If you have to ask, then it probably didn't happen for you.
[ They'd gotten a very abridged version from Dingo, and a more detailed one from Tomahawkman. ] It was a world that was similar to the one we existed in, but things happened differently there, and changed it. At least, that's what I heard.
[ He shrugs. ] So, we can both be right that way, if this is anything like that.
1/2
It's a question he never actually gets around to considering anyway, though, because then Elecman actually does explain that whole...parallel universe....thing......
Oh.
Megaman visibly listens carefully to all of it, to his credit, although he ends up looking increasingly dismayed as Elecman goes on. And when he finishes, Megaman sits back. Opens his mouth. Closes it again. Then, after another moment:]
...Um, hold on, I just--
[DON'T MIND HIM HE'S JUST...standing up and wandering away from the camera now, for a bit. Not very far, by the sound of things--his footsteps are still audible off the edge of the feed, pretty obviously pacing, and if one listens a bit harder there's a bit of mumbling that's also audible, if not just a bit too quiet to make out the words.]
no subject
...Okay. Well. No, you're right, I don't remember something like that ever happening back home for sure. Parallel universes, that's still--people are still only throwing around theories about that! But... [Man, talk about something to wrap your head around. It's disconcerting, really, trying to figure out just what Atroma is capable of. But something like this...] But, you're saying, that this...might be one of those cases, huh?
no subject
walks off....and returns in a bit. He's about to ask if he's okay, but he just...refrains from that. This obviously isn't the Megaman he knows.
Another shrug. ]
It could be. It seems likely. [ As the one who's seen parallel universe bullshit go down, he's a bit calmer about it. As calm as you can get here, anyway. ] It would explain a lot.
...I guess it is a lot to take in. [ He sounds like the words are being pulled out of him. He's making an effort. ]
no subject
He keeps waiting for the catch to kick in, honestly, but the talk stretches on and that doesn't seem to be happening. What should he even do with this information? He almost sort of wants to believe it, really, because that...would be a lot easier. And it would explain things. But should he believe it?
It's just too soon to decide yet, probably.]
...Yeah, it's--yeah. [Megaman sighs, rubbing one of his arms a bit.] Look, I--that probably is about as possible as anything else around here. ...But I think I need a bit more time to be sure, about that. [About you...] I'm sorry.
[A brief, awkward pause.]
You did just arrive here though, huh? ...Have you--had most things explained to you yet, for the most part?
no subject
[ He's glad for the topic change, though. ]
Yeah, I get the gist. We get to parade around for the entertainment of the viewers, right? That kind of thing, isn't it?
no subject
Topic change, yes, he could at least manage this much. Probably. Right...]
Mmhm, that kind of sums it up. Some sort of tv show, for space...I haven't managed to find any cameras yet, but apparently they're around everywhere. It's pretty shady. [Absentmindedly, he rubs at a point behind his neck.] I'm assuming you got an additional database too, when you arrived? They're calling it an augment, here...
no subject
The augment? Yeah, I got that. I guess it's useful, but not being able to tamper with it... [ He rubs the back of his neck, feeling that discomfort. ] It's suspicious.
no subject
[Uncomfortable to say the least, yes--and if his own visible unhappiness at the topic is anything to go by, Megaman still hasn't really adjusted to it yet either. He's had quite enough of being tampered with without his permission to last a lifetime already, honestly, but--that's another rant for another time. (And another person. Ah...)
There's another awkward pause, though, because the natural inclination to be helpful to newcomers still wars with who this particular newcomer is. Megaman had maybe been attempting to work past that a little bit, just now, but it's quickly apparent that he's at a loss again. So, after a bit...]
--A lot of people here have been around for awhile. Your crew might be able to help you out with questions and things, too. So... [wow could this get literally any more awkward...GLANCING AWAY FROM THE FEED A BIT NOW] So I guess, you want to get back working on your, uh...your spaceship, now. I'll leave you alone.
[FOR NOW..........]
