What do you... What makes a person good, do you think? Is it something they can control?

[He can be found out by the stables, getting as close to the horses as he can in his chair, without rolling over their feet. He wishes so hard that he could just climb up and ride one - almost as much as he wishes he could shift into his wolf's skin, and run with the strange fox-dogs out in the desert sand. Today is not a very happy day.]

[Oh look, Bran, a much smaller horse is making his way over to you. He casts the horse-beasts a nervous glance, before moving to sit next to Bran's chair. ]

I dunno, I mean, sometimes you can do a thing that you think is good, but turns out to be actually super bad. It doesn't make you a bad person, it just means you make mistakes. And everypony does that.

[Oh gods of all that is good and holy what is that]

[Bran just stares.]

Are you... Are you a horse?

[Cheese doesn't seem too bothered by the staring, he's well used to it by now. ]

Technically, I'm a pony. And gosh, wow, yes, I can talk. Wonder of wonders.

[That red-haired robot guy told him about this. Ponies who could talk. What a time to be alive.]

I'm sorry, I've never met a pony who could talk. I don't mean to be rude.

[It's the best time. At the apology, the saltiness of Cheese's replies vanish, and he gives Bran a wide smile again.]

It's ok, little buddy. Not a lot of humans are used to us Equestrians.

[He's still very confused, and throwing in an unfamiliar name just makes him pause and blink for a second.]

Equestrian, that's what I am. Meaning I'm from a place called Equestria. It's pretty cool.

Is everyone there a talking h- ... a talking pony?

Most of us are, but there are other creatures, too. Buffalo, cows, donkeys, creatures like that. A lot of the monsters speak, and outside our borders there's the Griffons, Dragons and Yaks.

[Also centaurs, but they don't talk about the centaurs.]

I've heard of some of those... [He squints in thought, trying to work out what a "yak" might be. It sounds nasty.] We have cows and donkeys, and we used to have dragons, but they're all dead.

I guess you guys live without dragon attack, then. That must be nice.

For a thousand years, we have. But before they died out, they killed thousands.

Yeeeeep that sure sounds like dragons. I'm forever glad they leave our towns alone.
