[It's been a whirlwind day for Kurt Wagner. He was emotionally raw from a traumatic event when he woke up in space. Kurt had arrived on the day of the shuffle and had been doing his best to try to keep a low profile. People aren't always the most acceptable of a fuzzy blue mutant who looks like a devil, after all. And he'd managed to pick up the basics, at least, between what encounters he had on the Marsiva, while managing to be lucky enough to avoid the network.

His luck ran out once he was shuffled onto the Huntress. The video feed catches an unsuspecting Kurt Wagner tinkering with his watch and being increasingly frustrated with it as he keeps prodding at it.]

Come onnn.... Why won't it work? Oh man!

[ooc: Of course, if any other new characters want, they can alternately run into him before the Shuffle, anywhere on the Marsiva. Choose your own adventure!]

Hey, you okay?

[Yup, here's Octavia. She's cool with the blue, though.]

[ Usually, Elize tries to speak up first when she greets newcomers to the ship. She has seen plenty of different races on the fleet, but a fuzzy blue mutant is another new one. Seeing him brings her to freeze up.

From the doorway leading to the hallway, the little girl's just going to quietly stare at him while he fiddles with his watch. ]

[Rogue catches the video feed as she is just scrolling through the communicator before bed in her nice little hard cot planetside. She bolts upright when she sees who it is. The video feed may catch the wooden walls behind her.]

Kurt!

[Yup, that is surprise and happiness in her tone.]

[Kurt hears that voice like a dagger through his heart. He looks around, startled, until he sees the face on the video feed. And he speaks with a gasp.]

Rogue?! [He slowly backs away, there's uncertainty and fear in his eyes. The memory is so fresh for him. It felt like just yesterday when he watched her shatter Mystique.

There's a lot to take in at once; she's up here in space, too. She looks so different, but she's definitely her. And something about the way she spoke hurt him in a way he couldn't quite define.

Maybe it was in the way that Rogue seemed to be so contrasted to the last time he saw her, when she released all of that frustration and rage. All of that hate.

But Kurt can't quite process all of that at once. And it's his fear and his worry about her that's overpowering him. And his own anger.]

Y-you... [He speaks uncertainly. He's not sure how that sentence will end. He's still getting used to just the sight of her.]

[After a few moments, he does notice something out of the corner of his eye.

Oh... It's a little girl. Kurt frets, worried about how frightening he might look. There's no easy way around this - when his watch isn't working, there never is.

So he settles for a meek wave towards her.]

U-um... Hi.

Hi...

[ A meek wave back in return. There's all sorts of questions she wants to ask, like why is his fur blue and why does he have a tail. She's far too shy to ask and it's probably rude. She hasn't even asked much detail about the feline-looking crewmates already aboard the ship.

She shifts uncomfortably, rubbing the side of her arm. ]

Um... welcome to the Huntress. Are you our new crewmate?

[She's so adorable... And that she's talking to him at all, that feels like more than he'd get from most strangers, even kids. Keeping his distance, he smiles meekly and nods.]

I guess I am! Whoever's in charge just poofed me on over here!

So... [He shrugs.] I'm Kurt. I guess I'll be handling communications here from now on.

[ She's not unfamiliar with the act of new tribe members suddenly arriving, when it used to be so common on Kyriakos.

The fact that he's blue only joins a moment's blink, a hesitation derived from her own grey-blue hue and an instinctive glance to his ears. But no, he is no Miqo'te to share her shade.

Her feline-like ears perked forward and her fluffy tail merely flicking at the tip in polite interest, she greets him. ]

I know not the answer to that.

[How puffed up her fur is indicates that Miah is far less accustomed to the sudden arrival of new crewmates than Marhi. Still, she adjusts quickly enough, approaching civilly.]

What is it that is not working?

[...whaaaat is going on with your face, bro? Because that is not happiness to see her, or any kind of remembrance of where they were together, or... anything.

Her expression changes, slides from joy into concerned caution.]

Yeah, me. Are ya okay? When did ya get here?

[Was he there for the attack? What ship was he on? ...why is he looking at her like that?]

[Ooh, a blue person! Well, she already knows a maroon person, and robot people, and a penguin person, and...]

What's not working? Your video looks great!

Hi!

Dude.

Did you know that you're blue?

Sokka, what's blue look like?

[Heard through Sokka's feed, as if someone's yelling at him from off screen]

Sokka! You can't just ask people if they know they're blue!

[And the echo continues.]

Come on, Allen! You don't even have to go here!

Why not? He might genuinely not know that he's blue. He might not have seen a mirror.

I'm sure he has! And what does it matter? You wear blue all the time.

It can be if there's something weird that the skin colour is a symptom of.

[She's still sounding so nice. How could she, after what she's done? Is she really acting like nothing happened?

Finally, he manages to spit back.]

I practically just got here.

But what do you care?

[Oh, he already has someone greeting him.]

Whoa! [He's taken by surprise by his first alien encounter. At least someone who's similarly furry is a welcome sight.]

That's okay... I think there's no point even if it does work anymore anyway. [He glances towards the network feed for a moment.] I guess this fleet is seeing my true colors!

[He sighs with a slump of his shoulders.]

My image inducer...

But never mind, I don't think there's a point to it anymore.

[And he gets a look at her. ...Huh, another cat girl.]
