[It's been a whirlwind day for Kurt Wagner. He was emotionally raw from a traumatic event when he woke up in space. Kurt had arrived on the day of the shuffle and had been doing his best to try to keep a low profile. People aren't always the most acceptable of a fuzzy blue mutant who looks like a devil, after all. And he'd managed to pick up the basics, at least, between what encounters he had on the Marsiva, while managing to be lucky enough to avoid the network.

His luck ran out once he was shuffled onto the Huntress. The video feed catches an unsuspecting Kurt Wagner tinkering with his watch and being increasingly frustrated with it as he keeps prodding at it.]

Come onnn.... Why won't it work? Oh man!

[ooc: Of course, if any other new characters want, they can alternately run into him before the Shuffle, anywhere on the Marsiva. Choose your own adventure!]

[ Usually, Elize tries to speak up first when she greets newcomers to the ship. She has seen plenty of different races on the fleet, but a fuzzy blue mutant is another new one. Seeing him brings her to freeze up.

From the doorway leading to the hallway, the little girl's just going to quietly stare at him while he fiddles with his watch. ]

[After a few moments, he does notice something out of the corner of his eye.

Oh... It's a little girl. Kurt frets, worried about how frightening he might look. There's no easy way around this - when his watch isn't working, there never is.

So he settles for a meek wave towards her.]

U-um... Hi.

Hi...

[ A meek wave back in return. There's all sorts of questions she wants to ask, like why is his fur blue and why does he have a tail. She's far too shy to ask and it's probably rude. She hasn't even asked much detail about the feline-looking crewmates already aboard the ship.

She shifts uncomfortably, rubbing the side of her arm. ]

Um... welcome to the Huntress. Are you our new crewmate?

[She's so adorable... And that she's talking to him at all, that feels like more than he'd get from most strangers, even kids. Keeping his distance, he smiles meekly and nods.]

I guess I am! Whoever's in charge just poofed me on over here!

So... [He shrugs.] I'm Kurt. I guess I'll be handling communications here from now on.

[ Questions about the blue fur and tail will be saved for later, perhaps when she feels more comfortable around her new crewmate. The smile eases her some and she offers a shy smile in return. ]

Oh, okay... [ Communications has something to do with talking, she's assuming. She's not fully certain of all the roles on the ship despite being around for several months already. Not even she's sure what her "personnel augment" means. ] My name is Elize. Nice to meet you. I handle personnel support!

[Oh, a smile. How adorable! He doesn't want to push his luck and scare her though, so he stays where he is.]

Nice to meet you too, Elize. Cool job! Have any words of support to start me off with?

[ She contemplates how to answer his question for a moment. She raises her hands up near her chest, balling them up into little fists. ]

Let's... do our best! [ A pause. That sounds incomplete. Do their best to do what? ]

We're a team, so let's do our best!

[He pauses for a moment. And then he balls up his three-fingered fists.]

Whoa! I'm feeling totally pumped up! Like I can take on anything!

[And he displays that by dancing a little in place.]

[ She hadn't expected him to do similar, plus add a little dance to it. It's kind of funny. Bringing her hands up to her face, she fails to hide the small laugh she lets out. ]

[He points towards her in a mock-accusatory manner.]

Did you just laugh?

I-

[ She covers her face, blushing and shaking her head. At first that looks like a no... but she lowers her hands, tucking them behind her back. ]

I don't know.

[Kurt laughs.]

You're adorable, you know that? And you're pretty great at this personnel support stuff. Keep up the good work! [He flashes a thumbs up.]

[ The flush on her cheeks becomes even brighter. She droops her head down, doing a terrible job of hiding her blush. ]

...thank you. I always try my hardest.

And it works! Now I know I have reliable crew members. All thanks to you! [It's easier to get used to this situation when he focuses on putting someone else in light spirits.]

[ She shyly lifts her head back up, offering an awkward smile. ]

Um... there's dessert in the kitchen for newcomers! It's really yummy.

Whoa, really?! Now that's awesome!

[His eyes light up. And then after a moment of thought, he goes on with a little bit of slyness.]

But wait! How am I supposed to know for sure how yummy it is?

I've had it before!

[ She sounds rather adamant. It's truth! ]

Oh you did, did you? But it's not the same one. That's not going to cut it, sister!

[He keeps smiling slyly.]

I won't believe you until you... eat a big part of that dessert first! [He just wants her to treat herself!!]

Really?!

[ Oh, shoot. She's sounding excited and kind of giving away the fact that she's a big eater. ]

N-no thank you. It's good, but it's... a little too sweet for me. Other people really like it though!

[She did sound excited for a second there....]

Really? It sounded like you were singing a different tune a little while ago. [He gives a forlorn sigh.] Man, I really wish I had a cool friend around who would really pig out with me...

...Are we friends?

[ She sounds even more shy asking her question. They did just meet after all. ]

Sure, why not? [He hesitates for a moment, though.]

I mean... if you don't want to be, that's still totally cool... I get that I'm not the friendliest-looking guy.

I-I want to be friends! I want a lot of friends!

[ Her answer comes quickly. She likes making friends, okay. ]

You're... nice. Even if you don't look like a lot of other people.

[That's a relief. Kurt smiles warmly in return.]

You know, that's one of the nicest things I've heard. ...Thanks. You're a good kid, Elize, and I already know you're a great friend.
