[deep breaths, hiro.

[he's been hovering in the doorway of the lab for about five minutes now, knowing full well that tadashi is distracted enough not to notice him (especially with the training he's undergone to hide himself). he's trying to steel himself before he approaches his brother. there will be support. he knows tadashi won't be mad. but admitting this to him... it's different than admitting it to ino and alex.

[telling tadashi is what will make this feel real.

[it takes another minute or so before he walks into the room, mustering up the best shell of confidence he can.]

Hey, bro.

[ishere]

[ tadashi jumps slightly at his little brother's voice. it's embarrassing being caught off guard like that, especially with as weird as some of the things that've been happening on the fleet have been, but it's just hiro. so he lets it roll off, putting down whatever it was he was occupying himself with at the moment and casting his eyes up to his little brother. ]

Hey, runt. Need something?

[ give him another couple seconds to notice how thin that shell of confidence is. he'll figure it out. ]

[hiro slides himself right into a chair at the table, leaning backwards on it and sighing.]

Nah, not really.

[a pause.]

What're you... workin' on?

[ well, it kind of is, but relative to the way hiro is sort of just sliding around? ehhh. all of his focus is immediately on the younger boy sighing in his chair. ]

What'd you break?

[he's kicking his legs, a little.]

Well, nothing's broken.

[ he's having a little trouble judging how serious this is - how much of it is hiro playing something up, how much of this is silliness and how much is actual anxiety. so he just leans forward a little, resting his forearms on his knees. ]

Okay, hold on. Tell me first: you okay?

[ and he relaxes, though he does still seem distinctly suspicious. ]
