Who: Eugene and all comers
Broadcast: Fleetwide video
Action: the Vanquish and Dust Planet
When: September 30th
[As usual, Eugene's at the galley table when he opens his broadcast, though the occasion's special enough to have him out of his usual uniform coveralls and in a faded gingham shirt he'd obtained planetside, cuffs rolled above the elbow.]
Hello again, everybody. Eugene Woods here, and I'm glad to introduce, at long last, the first safely potable product of the brewing project that the Vision and I have been working on.
[He reaches a tattooed arm off-camera and returns with a slightly scuffed bottle that had presumably been scavenged, cleaned, adorned with a handwritten label that's mostly turned away from the camera, and refilled with a completely clear liquid. He wobbles it from side to side, just to emphasize that fact, before setting it back down.]
This run is technically more of a vodka than anything, and as supplies allow we'll be branching off into more nuanced stuff. But for anyone who wants to taste what you can do in the depths of space with sugar, a still, and a bit of alien palm fruit, I'll be offering tastings by arrangement planetside and in the Vanquish galley.

Holy shit. Someone actually did it? I thought I'd be going gray by the time someone figured out how to rig up some liquor.
You have my attention, good sir. And my tastebuds. The Vanquish, you said?

[He cuts the feed and jumps in a shuttle. It takes a few minutes, of course, but he shows up. Eugene might be expecting someone taller but... ah well. It's Varric, and he's dressed his best.]
Hey! Someone said there was liquor for tastin'?

[Eugene understands the basic science behind distilling and brewing, but in a situation that called for making the equipment itself from scratch? He doesn't pretend he's not totally dependent upon people with engineering know-how.]
I'm throwing all the money I can scrape together planetside back into this, anyway. Stocking up on charcoal for filtration columns, anything that might give it a good flavor . . . did you have any ideas for mixers, by the way?

Naturally it would be best to test with the drinks available on the ships to begin with, but I have a feeling stronger flavors will work better to counter its own taste. We'll have to keep an eye open for planetside beverages that might fit the bill.

But. Not allowed. [Grimaces.] On too many chems.
Maybe if Dr. Crusher fixes my back some day, I can have a drink to celebrate, though.

How does it taste? Better than paint thinner, I hope.
