Who: Koushirou and you~
Broadcast: Text [Fleetwide]
Action: Marsiva living area
When: October 30th, midday
[There has been way too much togetherness lately and Koushirou has been doing his best to stay apart from said togetherness, spending most of his time lurking in some corner observing things around him or, more often, reading the available books. That's where he is now, in one of the reading nooks of the living areas, while he sends a message out to the network.]
I presume no one has received any indication of how long we will be here before returning to our ships, if we do so at all?
[He's kind of regretting wanting to get back onto the Marsiva in the first place, even if that had nothing to do with what actually happened. This is so not fun, and it isn't even a good opportunity to investigate anything. He's checked out all the available areas so many times by now, and he's actually getting really bored on top of being tired of being around so many people.]
I was also curious as to whether there is anyone who has remained awake after the countdown has finished.
[Someone here has been lucky enough not to be involved in any of the calibrationsyet, and so the whole everyone falling asleep thing is the most interesting puzzle he can try to work on right now.]

video
Been having some fairly weird dreams, though.
video
[A negative answer is just as useful as a positive one in its own way after all.]
What do you mean by weird dreams?
no subject
More like... I'm seeing other people's dreams?
no subject
[This is definitely interesting. Seeing other people's dreams?]
What makes you believe you're seeing others' dreams, rather than your own?
[He doesn't disbelieve her, he just wants to know how it works.]
no subject
no subject
Do you know if anyone else has been having unusual dreams as well?
no subject
Maybe we should find out.
no subject
no subject
Uh. I don't exactly... know them, yet?
I only got here recently. But-- I'll ask the people I do know.
no subject
[A pause, as he realizes he should ask...]
What is your name?
no subject
I'm Ahsoka. Ahsoka Tano. And you?
no subject
[And because there's a giant mess of customs around here...]
Koushirou is my given name, but either name is fine.
[He doesn't mind so whichever is easier works.]
no subject
Ahsoka is my given name. I prefer to go by that.
I seriously need more icons sigh
[That she's familiar with the idea is nice, though. Of course he's pretty certain she comes from a very different world than he does judging by her looks, but even he knows better than to ask about that just yet.]
Alright, it's nice to meet you then, Ahsoka.
action!
[ Someday Haruka will cure herself of this "peering over people's shoulders" habit. It is not today. ]
no subject
Koushirou is not exactly the best at keeping aware of his surroundings, especially when focused on something, so he totally doesn't notice Haruka until she speaks. One the other hand, he's fortunately somewhat hard to scare, so at least he doesn't shriek or anything.
Not loudly, anyway.
However, he does flail a bit and whirl around wide-eyed to just stare at her, before eventually echoing her words.]
A bullhorn?
no subject
I hope you're able to find answers to your questions.
no subject
[ Who knows whether she could see what Koushirou was typing, but she's got a good guess what he was doing when she interrupted. ]
no subject
That's true, but I don't believe that would be very appreciated.
[So he's pretty sure the answer would be a little less than helpful and more annoyed.]
no subject
[ "Annoyed" appears to be an emotion this person has never experienced.
She hides it well.]no subject
made more annoying when i dont need to fucking sleep and yet here i am
catching z's with the rest of you like a greentike delivered fresh off the cloning apparatus

no subject
[Because there's definitely something weird going on about it.]
no subject
You don't naturally sleep?
text
In regards to the issue of everyone falling asleep it may not be magic at all, although that is what I considered first. We all have the implants in common.
[So maybe it has to do with them.]
no subject
[ Then again, it doesn't take much. Haruka looks over at said countdown, since it happens to be here (and beats staring dramatically into space). ] Anyone who managed probably didn't by accident.
no subject
[He nods once.]
If anyone has been able to avoid sleeping then they may be able to figure out that reason.
[Maybe something is happening at night.]
no subject
not anymore
i can log off for the night if im feeling it but thats pretty rare
especially in circumstances more suspicious than the average suspicious circumstance
like
while id reluctantly tolerate them tucking me in at night the business of changing my clothes while i sleep is taking the creep factor a step too far
text
It is my thinking also. It bodes ill for what other effects these augments may have at their disposal.
no subject
But discussing this seriously with a stranger would
make too much sensepotentially blow her cover, so back to being deadpan. ] You need an alarm clock.no subject
I wonder if it's possible to awaken someone during the night at all.
Perhaps an alarm can be fashioned somehow from the thing we do have access to.
no subject
text
Yes. Considering what we do know about the augments, they could likely be programmed for many different effects.
[Including malicious ones, or simply unwanted but mostly benign ones like making everyone fall asleep.]
Do you know if anyone has ever removed theirs?
text
no subject
I don't think it'd be a problem to build one, as there should be enough parts in the electronic equipment available to us. However, whether the alarm would remain in one piece through the night is in question.
[He's taken apart a few things already--such as the cameras--and they always ended up intact the next day.]
text
[He knows from his friends--who he loves, but can be serious idiots--that something being stupid isn't much of a deterrent.]
no subject
That is somewhat unsettling, yes.
[This whole thing in general is kind of creepy on some level, even if creepy is too strong a word for him to actually use.]
no subject
But that doesn't really seem worth pointing out - no skin off her nose if he tries and fails - so she just pats the chair Koushirou's sitting in. ] I'll leave that to you, then.
no subject
usually doesnt last for too long
no subject
Sprite bits?
[He'll just keep asking questions until he's stopped.]
no subject
[Because he's definitely going to try it, whether or not it's likely to work.]
no subject
taken out of context it sounds like youre asking me about something way more questionable than it is but im a pass on giving you shit because i dont even know your name
but yeah its video game shit
turns out sleeping isnt really important when youve got a few lines of code to compensate
no subject
[ She'll move on if that's okay with him, having learned something new - about her fellow prisoners, if not the prison itself.
Well, everybody has to feel like they're doing something. Maybe he'll surprise her.
It's happened before. ]
this is so old I'm sorry! Feel free to ignore <3
[He can take teasing but he's always glad when the opportunity is passed over. Though that comment about his name reminds him that he's really lacking on his manners.]
My name is Koushirou.
[But enough of that, back to the interesting stuff.]
You can compensate for lack of sleep with code?
