[ zuko is sitting on a couch playing what appears to be super mario bros. The old school nes version, naturally, and zuko has discovered that 1) video games are amazing and 2) he isn't actually terrible at them.

what zuko is terrible at, however, is controlling his sheer disbelief that the knowledge that all mario needs to do in order to firebend is eat a flower. is that it? seriously??? if it were that easy in his universe, he wouldn't have had to climb up a goddamn mountain in order to regain his skills and talk to a freaking dragon. he would happily --

but his inner monologue is interrupted when zuko finally makes it to the castle, and he looks pretty satisfied with himself at beating this thing (eat shit bowser!!) but then -- ]

[ ARE YOU SERIOUS and the nes controller is thrown at the ground in a huff. ]

I went through three firebending flowers for that? Unbelievable -- !

[Zuko's comment gets an unintelligible grumble, but she reaches over and grabs... a giant bag of frozen chicken nuggets. Close enough, right?

Top turns around to face him, stuff huffing, giant ass bag of frozen meat tenders balanced on her head.]

That really hurt. [Her tone's still angry, but not directed at him anymore.]

[ zuko opens his mouth stop her, but ... whatever. same difference. and he looks guilty before reaching in to remove the actual ice pack. ]

I know, I'm -- here, this one is better.

[ as he holds it out to her, nudging her hand with it so she can take the actual ice pack. he's not being blamed for allowing the blind girl to walk around with chicken nuggets on her head, okay. ]

I didn't mean to hit you with it.

[She takes it, handing him the bag of nuggets in exchange. They're dinosaur shaped if you must know. Toph shuts the freezer door and begins to trudge back to the couch.]

I know. Sorry for yelling at you like that. [Her words are mumbled, but still sincere. That's Toph.]

[ zuko is just going to put those back in the freezer now thx toph ]

[ pause, and a little dryly ]

[The ice pack's balance precariously on her head as she moves and takes a seat on the cushions.]

[ there's a slight huffing sigh at that, though it does make him feel better to hear that the group generally still likes him after they're done yelling at him. :c :c and zuko sits next to her, quiet for a few minutes before speaking ]

You won't want to leave that on too long.

[ the last thing he needs is katara bitching at him that he let the blind kid get frost bite ]
