[ why hello there, fleetians. this broadcast is brought to you by the letter W, as in WHY THIS WHY ME. which is, coincidentally enough, one of the many thoughts buzzing through weiss' mind ever since she'd woken up to find herself in space. though she supposes after a "digital" space, regular space shouldn't be too difficult to adjust to. boy, is she trying.

she might actually look familiar to some of you — there had definitely been an accidental broadcast or two of her as she fumbled through her first few hours on marsiva — mostly boring stuff like meticulously combing through any and all information she could find on her communicator (and taking an extensive amount of notes on them), stuffing her face into a pillow and screaming at the top of her lungs, and staring into a mirror and giving herself a pep talk in an attempt to Get a Grip.

apparently the Grip has been Gotten (or maybe she just grew impatient), for now she's making her first broadcast, a pleasant smile plastered on her face. ]

Good ev— [ she pauses, glancing briefly to the side; how does one even tell time in space.... ] — Greetings. [ her smile becomes just a touch more strained. ]

My name is Weiss Schnee. As the newest Communications Officer of the S.S. Three Twins, I thought it was prudent to introduce myself to the rest of the ship. I can't say I have much experience in the area of... space pioneering — [ or reality tv star, for that matter, but she's pointedly choosing to Ignore that bit of the deal thankyouverymuch ] — but when it comes to diplomacy and intermediation, I have an extensive background.

[ a brief pause. shoot, she's already forgotten her place. best to just wrap this up..! ]

It's a pleasure to make all your acquaintances. I look forward to working with you all.

[ another pause, and then she suddenly remembers—! ]

Oh, and if anyone might know where I can get some binders, I'd really appreciate the tip.

[ from the looks of it, she'll probably be needing more than one... ]

[He had caught flickers of the accidental broadcasts while he was chilling around his room thoughtfully. And now that she's finally talking, Kurt listens carefully. He faintly chuckles at her name... It's nice that it sounds like they're up one German, and she definitely somehow has a fighting name. Miss White Snow...

He responds via audio, since he's trying to protect his true form when he can.]

Ahoy, Miz Schnee! [He speaks with a light tone.] My name's Kurt Wagner. [No, his name does not mean Blue Fuzz. He has an actual name.] I'm not from your ship, but I'm communications for the Huntress. So I guess this a... official communications... communication?

[A beat.]

Anyway! It sounds like you're really in a bind. I'll let you know if I find any binders lying around. But I don't think we'll be able to stock up until they let us fly again...

[ did she just get punned at... she cannot even beLIEvE ]

[ anyway, she squints a little, a look of mild confusion flickering over her expression as she stares down at her communicator... her lips purse briefly in displeasure, but with an easy touch of the screen, she soon switches to the audio function as well.

let's aim for some consistency here, please! ]

It's nice to meet you, Kurt. [ he doesn't sound old enough to warrant a "mr. wagner" ] I guess I can't be too surprise by the lack of office supplies; likely anything to be worth recording is easily done through this communicator.

[ she trails off a little... then there is a faint, haughty sniff. ]

Personally, I find that the old fashioned way is easier for processing.

[ she actually jerks back a little when he cheers — she'd been holding the thing to her ear like she would have a scroll from back home, so her poor eardrums are left vulnerable to his enthusiasm.

bristling lightly, ] It's been scientifically proven that the mere action of writing words down helps a person absorb the material better. That aside, it's just best practices to have physical copies of information should your electronic ones become corrupted.

[ she's actually in her room, so they're spared any awkwardness. not that that can't change...!

What's wrong with a binder? [ at least she isn't asking for any lisa frank!? ] How else do you expect me to organize my notes?

[ she pauses uncertainly... she's fairly certain she made this broadcast using her Inside Voice. ]

[ GUESS WHO HAS NO IDEA THEY WERE BROADCASTED ]

actually nah he's just gonna approach this the normal way which is with as much tact as a brick through a glass window ] I'm certain I saw you yelling into a pillow a while ago. I guess that's not a bad way to compose yourself, but you might not want to broadcast it next time.

anyway, she's quite thankful this person has chosen the audio route now, because it hides how mortified she looks with this revelation. ]

And when you get bored, you can use some of the blank pages to make paper airplanes!

You might want to get a cover for that communicator or something. [ Totally unfazed...though Weiss will hear a laugh that Elecman doesn't bother to stifle. ]

Sure, I'll just delete the memories for you, since you asked. [ His voice is dry. The only people who can request things of him are his operators, and neither of them are here...though Weiss does remind him of Ann. That doesn't soften him much, though. ] I don't clear out my own data for just anyone, you know.

[ weiss is still quietly Freaking Out about her lack of composure apparently having been broadcasted to the entire ship, so a lot of what he says and the tone with which he says them in sort of fly past her head. ]

What about pieces of scrap paper? Everybody scraps!

Um... What isn't cool about a paper plane? You can make it fly through the air and see how far it gets! It's almost like having a toy plane, without having to spend a dime!

[ He sounds disdainful that he has to explain it even though he explained exactly nothing and it's impossible to tell what he is over audio. ] You're familiar with how to delete a file on a computer, right? [ He's not explaining computers to you if you aren't! You're on your own for that. ] It's the same principle.

You said it yourself, didn't you? Supplies are low. Why waste them by making scraps?

[ And it's not like he could store his own data on this communicator. It might flip out or something....it's probably not big enough. ] Let me guess: you've never met an AI before, right?

Well, obviously. You're paying for more than just a hastily-folded paper. At least with a toy plane, you're given more opportunities to actually, you know. Have fun with it.
