[ why hello there, fleetians. this broadcast is brought to you by the letter W, as in WHY THIS WHY ME. which is, coincidentally enough, one of the many thoughts buzzing through weiss' mind ever since she'd woken up to find herself in space. though she supposes after a "digital" space, regular space shouldn't be too difficult to adjust to. boy, is she trying.

she might actually look familiar to some of you — there had definitely been an accidental broadcast or two of her as she fumbled through her first few hours on marsiva — mostly boring stuff like meticulously combing through any and all information she could find on her communicator (and taking an extensive amount of notes on them), stuffing her face into a pillow and screaming at the top of her lungs, and staring into a mirror and giving herself a pep talk in an attempt to Get a Grip.

apparently the Grip has been Gotten (or maybe she just grew impatient), for now she's making her first broadcast, a pleasant smile plastered on her face. ]

Good ev— [ she pauses, glancing briefly to the side; how does one even tell time in space.... ] — Greetings. [ her smile becomes just a touch more strained. ]

My name is Weiss Schnee. As the newest Communications Officer of the S.S. Three Twins, I thought it was prudent to introduce myself to the rest of the ship. I can't say I have much experience in the area of... space pioneering — [ or reality tv star, for that matter, but she's pointedly choosing to Ignore that bit of the deal thankyouverymuch ] — but when it comes to diplomacy and intermediation, I have an extensive background.

[ a brief pause. shoot, she's already forgotten her place. best to just wrap this up..! ]

It's a pleasure to make all your acquaintances. I look forward to working with you all.

[ another pause, and then she suddenly remembers—! ]

Oh, and if anyone might know where I can get some binders, I'd really appreciate the tip.

[ from the looks of it, she'll probably be needing more than one... ]

People can look all kinds of things. Anyway, I don't think they have binders readily available in space. You could probably appropriate one of the books, though. I don't think they all have words in them.

[ she frowns tightly. he's sounding pretty cagey right now, what with how quickly he moves on from actually answering her inquiries... now she's certain he'd been insulting her in some way. ]

[ there is a long, thoughtful pause as weiss considers his words. while the thought of destroying books still feels a bit blasphemous to her, she can't help but feel a tinge of... temptation at the thought. back on cerealia, she had barely been able to make a difference with regards to their collective fate. why, her first and only interaction with the authorities had proved both frustrating and fruitless.

at this point, a part of weiss just really, really wants to stick it to the man.

her fingers drum against the edge of her communicator a bit in anxious thought. ]

We've been here long enough that I would have a enough garbage to start my own junkyard if they didn't keep stealing it back at night.

[ a thoughtful pause. ]

Do you happen to know where they keep these books?

Yeah, main room. It's the light at the end of the corridor that looks better suited for the horror hall of a mental institution. It's the only semi-decent place in this holding cell. Kitchen aside, since I've got conflicting opinions about that.

[ he may or may not hear her suddenly start to move, the soft, tentative click of her boots echoing down corridors as she tries to make her way over to that space. ]

[To Davesprite, that's practically the same as FRIENDSHIP STATUS: SECURED.]

Just wait until you see the shit they've been feeding us. And it's actually a fuckin' improvement over the norm, which is where the conflicting opinions come in. I think it's actually food.

Well...yeah. My standards are pretty low to start, but at least they've got options besides protein blocks here. No one even knows what that shit is made of. Could be people.

Oh god. No, my bro didn't suck that much. Protein blocks are what they make us eat here. At least until you get enough credits together to start shelling out for semi-normal foodstuffs.

They've just got an actual kitchen with non-block options on the Marsiva. Some of the other abductees even know how to use it.
