[ jade shakes her head, holding one hand up in vague apology. ]

You can be here!! It's okay, I think we all like visitors here. Who are you looking for?

Really? [ nanako relaxes visibly, a smile replacing the nervous look on her face. ] Thank you!

Um, I'm looking for Jade! Is she busy right now?

jade never got nanakos name did she LMAO

[ she blinks at that, briefly surprised, before she ducks her head and laughs softly. ]

No, I'm not at all. Why do you ask?

[ whoa wait, ]

Oh! You're Jade!

[ wow she didn't think it'd be this easy. dang. ]

[kotatsu]

[ she reaches inside her basket and pulls out some paper flowers. it looks like they're made with scraps of paper, but they're all mostly different shades of green. because, you know, jade is a shade of green.

anyway, she'll hand that off to her with a big smile. ]

I made these for you! Happy birthday!

... oh!

[ that... was literally the last thing that jade was expecting, and she still hasn't quite put two and two together as she takes the paper flowers from nanako. she seems a little confused, but mostly just touched. ]

I love them, but... [ ??? ] -- you're the person from my broadcast!

[kotatsu]

[ ahhh, she remembered! nanako's smile brightens further, obviously pleased when jade takes them. ]

Uh-huh! I'm Nanako, it's nice to meet you!

[thebarkside]

[ and, for a moment, jade is literally and legitimately stunned. she struggles briefly, then beams softly at nanako. ]

It's nice to meet you, too. Want to see something cool?

[kotatsu]

[ oh... is she going to do a magic trick? nanako's eyes widen a little, nodding eagerly. ]

Y-Yeah!

[ kind of! jade will just hold her flowers close to her and lead nanako toward her bunk. ]

Jeez, I don't think I actually said thank you, did I? Thank you, Nanako. This is really wonderful.

[ and she'll obediently follow along next to her. ]

You're welcome, I'm really glad you like them! I'm sorry I couldn't make your favorite flower, though. I'll remember next time!

No, I think I like these kinds of flowers even more. I bet they're ones you like a lot, right?

[ and when jade enters her bunk, she's immediately going for.... a little box of dirt she keeps on the floor near the foot of her bed. ]

Yeah! They were my Mom's favorite, too.

[ a box of dirt... nanako will just keep observing her curiously. is she.... going to try and plant them or something.... ]

[ nope - it seems like she's just gently tucking the paper flowers into a small cup on her desk. ]

What's your favorite color?

[kotatsu]

I like pink!

[ because that's what she usually wears. her smile brightens when she sees jade placing the flowers on her desk; she's pleased they've earned a special place. ]

What about you? Is yours green?

[thebarkside]

Nope. It's blue.

[ jade drags her fingertips over the pot of dirt, as if trying to coax something up out of it. a few small, green tendrils of plant sprout up, curling around her fingers. ]

sorry for the delay!!

Blue is a pretty color, too.

[ but she gets a little distracted by the small plants sprouting up, eyes wide as she stares at jade's fingers. ]

Oh, they're growing...!

and then i delayed by like a month!!!
