People do, but we ponies usually don't. We get cutie marks when we figure out what our place in the universe is. We almost never have to second guess those kinda things.

Eh, whenever the time comes. Usually between being a colt or a filly to becoming a stallion or a mare.

I mean, you get late bloomers, but not that late.

[It's basically pony puberty. ]

I mean, some ponies aren't always super duper happy, but that's usually because they haven't quite figured out all the kinks.

[there's probably something to be said for the freedom to choose one's own fate, but destiny seems to play a very big part in her own life. Choosing it and making it one's own is the trick, isn't it?]

So in the end, everything works out. It does seem much more efficient than what most humans do.

Yeah. I always feel so bad for humans. That they can live to an old age and still don't know what their place is in the world.

It's just...sad.

There's no magic formula. For the most part, we have to make our own destinies.

We like to tell ourselves that it's the journey that matters, not the end.

I mean, we enjoy the journey, too but there's more... security there, I guess?

I would imagine so. It probably saves you a lot of heartache. [her tone turns light] And not a few mid-life crises as well.

Yeah! Most of us only get antsy when we're my age. Once we get older, we got it all worked out.
