[Now that we've all had time to settle back into our ships, let's see what's going on over on the Iskaulit! For the new folks, there are already a few establishments and projects going on, but there's plenty of room for everyone, either to join in or to build their own thing. So mingle away!]

Nothing crazy, no. You probably already noticed the changes to your ship and our oh so thoughtful gift baskets.

[She gestures towards her work table.]

Could you hand me those tweezers?

...Yeah, I'm not thrilled with what I got. I don't like the idea of Atroma stealing stuff off my mom's desk.

[She uses the Force to pick up the tweezers and float them over to Beverly. IT'S NOT SHOWING OFF IT'S PRACTICE.]

These the ones you want?

[Beverly takes the tweezers without batting an eye.] Yes, thank you. [She uses the tweezers to carefully extract a few seeds from the center of a brightly colored flower, then deposits the seeds into a test tube. After she seals the tube and puts it back in its designated spot in her lab kit, she looks at Vima, concerned.]

What do you mean, they stole from your mother? What did they give you?

[Darn, she was hoping for at least a little bat of the eye.]

A holopicture of my dad. I don't know if she'll notice, what with time-space, but she takes it with her wherever we go.

[She has seen a lot weirder things than some telekinesis... Q for instance.]

Oh, Vima, I'm sorry. [She is very empathetic to this particular situation. Just thinking about it makes her automatically look over at her tricorder.] They did a similar thing to me, months ago.

[Vima follows Dr. Crusher's look towards the tricorder. Now that she does, it is pretty different than the instruments she's seen from this galaxy.]

They handed you something that belongs with your family and friends?

Not exactly. Or well... maybe. [She picks up the tricorder.] To be honest, I'm not sure exactly where they got it. When I first got it, I thought it was simply a standard tricorder, issued throughout Starfleet but...

[Pressing a few buttons on the screen, she causes a holoimage to pop up, of Wesley.]

It came with personal information of mine.

[Vima leans closer. It's a boy ~~in an epic sweater~~ who does look something like Dr. Crusher.]

This is Wesley?

Mmm. That's right, I forgot - you never actually saw him, did you, in the calibration?

[Just... her and Jack, before Wesley was born.]

[She shakes her head, feeling slightly more awkward now. If she was going to rank the memories she'd saw, she would consider the one she barged into as less uncomfortable.]

No... just you and your husband.

[Beverly smiles sadly. They had so many plans, back then.]

Jack's not in here. Just Wesley. They gave it to me in time for Mother's Day.

["Mother's Day" is new to Vima, and maybe it's something she should introduce to Nomi whenever she gets to go home, but that's way in the back of her mind, considering the implication of why it was timed then.]

They did that on--oh, wow. That's just mean.

It was... hard, that day, but I got through it, with help from my crew.

[Beverly sighs and turns the tricorder off.]

The point is, I have no doubt Atroma uses these gifts to trigger emotional responses from us. More entertaining for them I suppose. But I've also found great comfort in these photos and letters as well.

I'm sure it does. My device was already on when I found my gift basket--I was lucky that I noticed it.

[She puts her hand in her pocket--she's carrying the holo around with her, because, well. It's her dad's picture, and she doesn't want to lose it.]

It is kind of a shock to see it here, but... you're probably right. It's contradictory, but I'm kind of happy I have mine even though Atroma shouldn't have brought it. It's a bit of home, I guess.

That's the best way to look at it.

[Sad smile.]

And I can't imagine your mother would begrudge you having it, if it brings you comfort here.

That's true. [Nomi wasn't too mad when Vima deliberately took the one of Ulic, so...] I'll just make sure to look after it so I can give it back.

Do you want to see it? I've been carrying it around, actually.

I'd like that, if you don't mind sharing.

[She takes it out of her pocket and switches it on to show the blue, translucent image of a young man.

It doesn't really sting; mostly what Vima misses is the thought of having a father, not Andur himself, although she does have some memory of his death. That's part of why she's so irritated at Atroma: this really does mean more to her mother.]

His name was Andur. He died when I was still almost a baby, but Mom's kept his picture.

[Beverly's heart sinks for Vima: at least Wesley got to know Jack a little and can remember him. And of course... she knows almost exactly how Nomi must feel.]

He's very handsome. Was he a Jedi as well?

[She nods.]

Yeah. The Force tends to run in families. Sometimes I wonder how he would have been as a teacher.

[Hmm. She knows that Vima felt ignored by her mother, at a time when she was so desperate to learn. It would be easy enough to wonder if things would be different, with her father around.]

Does your mother ever talk to you about him?

Not a whole lot. Not never, but I think it's still pretty painful for her.

We--he was killed by some criminal in a spaceport, and she had to grab his lightsaber.

[She nods. It isn't the tactic she took, with Wesley, and she doesn't think Nomi is right to not talk to Vima about him - after all, she knows what it's like to be on the other side of that, to have lost her parents - but she can understand. Even now, talking about Jack can be difficult sometimes, and she didn't have to see him die in front of her. She takes Vima's hand and gives it a small squeeze.]

I'm sorry.

[Vima smiles faintly and squeezes back.]

It's fine. I mean... it happened a long time ago, and I don't remember it too clearly. [They did get to say goodbye... but, she's not sure she'll introduce the topic of Force ghosts right this second.] I do wish I had gotten a chance to know him, though... so that I would have something more to miss, I guess.

[She nods.] I understand what you mean. Both my parents died when I was very young. I still remember my mother but... not my father.
