Who: weiss schnee and ~you~
Broadcast: fleetwide
Action: ss three twins
When: december 2nd
[ hello drift fleet who here is up for a rousing game of GET TO KNOW YOUR FELLOW CAPTIVES i mean who doesn't love a good ice breaker amirite.
luckily (un...luckily...???) for you all, weiss has done her Research and has chosen the best possible ice breaker the multiverses can find! ]
With the crews back in their vessels and all systems supposedly in order, I thought now would be the perfect time to engage in a good old fashioned ice breaker.
We all come from different worlds, after all, with various experiences under our belt, yet we are all together put in this position, for better or for worse.
So why not try and get to know each other better?
Of course, with distance now an inhibiting factor, it makes things a little more difficult...
But worry not! For I've found a game that will work just as fine through text, with some slight modifications.
The rules are simple enough — anyone is free to make an honest declaration at any time. If any of the statements apply to you, you simply respond with a brief explanation of how.
I can even start!
Ready?
[ and, yes, weiss has just started an online drinking game, look she's not making these rules up, pls play that portion at your own discretion ahem ]

I guess that makes sense.
A military wouldn't want its soldiers falling for the enemy.
no subject
Anyway. It doesn't really have anything to do with the enemy or anything like that. It's a part of our-- their-- ideology. If you become too attached to something-- or someone-- it becomes difficult to let go when the time is right, or to make the right decision in the name of the greater good. A Jedi mustn't let personal feelings get in the way of doing what's right.
Personal attachments lead to fear of loss. Which leads to impaired judgement, anger, even hatred. A Jedi who gives in to these things is lost to the Dark Side forever. As Jedi, we're taught to live in this world loving everything but owning nothing.
no subject
How is that not a military?
[That's all she can send for a bit, having to take a moment before following up with:]
The rest of that, though.
That is absolutely the stupidest thing I have ever heard.
And I shared a team with a guy who told us that girls shouldn't fight.

They're [she has to keep correcting herself] fighting to PROTECT the galaxy! That's what the Jedi do. They're protectors of justice and those who can't protect themselves. The leader of the Separatists is a *Sith Lord*. If he has it his way, he won't stop until the entire galaxy is under his tyrannical rule!
And it's not stupid. It's true.
[Look. Look. She might have left the Order, but the Code is still sacred to her. You can take the Jedi out of the Order, but you can't take the Order out of the Jedi. She still has many years of brainwashing to unlearn.]
no subject
I don't know what that is.
Fear of loss is a part of life.
I deal with it all the time.
And yeah, it's always difficult to let go of people you care about.
I still don't know how to manage that.
But you know, those things you're citing as evil?
"Dark side" or whatever?
They're not pleasant, but not having them is even worse.
And just because you have someone you care about, doesn't mean you can't do what's right.

Moderation isn't in their vocabulary. Every time in history a Sith Lord has gained power, it's thrown the Force and the galaxy out of balance. That's what a Sith is.
Anyway. It's not that Jedi don't have them. I'm afraid of losing people all the time. But it's our struggle as Jedi to overcome them.
no subject
[There's a lot more she wants to say there, but... Without knowing what that means, it's a little hard to.]
no subject
[Oh, right, that isn't going to make much sense either, huh.]
The simplest way to explain the Force is that it's the energy of all living things. The universe, you, me, a chicken. Everything. It binds us together. A small percentage of people can sense it. That's where you get people who can sense things before they happen, or who seem to know something bad has happened to their loved one who lives on the other side of the planet, or who seem to magically intuit what other people are feeling instinctively. We call these people "Force sensitive."
Then there's an even smaller percentage of those people who are born actually able to harness that power physically and purposefully. That's what we call a Force user. With the right training, a Force user can do all kinds of things. See into the future, use telekinesis, sense lies and emotions, sense another's physical location or well-being, enhance our own strength or speed or healing capabilities, that sort of thing.

I think I get it.
It sounds like a special type of aspected mana.
Or at least that's how it's easiest to think of it.
So... The big problem with these 'Sith Lords' is that they're asshole mages, basically?
no subject
That's one way to put it.
The Jedi strive for balance. The Sith strive for chaos. So you can see why we don't exactly get along.
no subject
But just to be sure.
What does 'balance' mean in your context?
no subject
no subject
Last time I met someone talking about 'order' and 'balance', and how emotions were terrible things, she also killed me and about half the other people present so we'd 'learn something'.
So you'll have to forgive me if I seem a bit skeptical.
no subject
Life is sacred to the Jedi. We're morally opposed to taking lives unless there's absolutely, 110% no other way.
no subject
Kind of like an order of peacekeepers who find life sacred fighting in a political war.
no subject
So what are we supposed to do, then? Just sit back and let the Sith take over the galaxy? Eradicating and enslaving life as we know it? The general population isn't cut out to fight back against the Sith!
Besides, the Separatists aren't even using real soldiers! Their entire army is comprised of droids. All we do on the front lines all day is take down hunks of scrap metal with programming chips.
no subject
Fight acknowledging the hypocrisy of what you're doing.
Get mad when bad things happen.
Get attached to the people you're fighting with.
Actually show some signs that there's more to you than the robots you're fighting.
Are those 'droids' not intelligent?
no subject
And of course I get attached to the people that I'm fighting with. The Order is
was my family! I don't think they're right about everything, all the time. Of course I don't. If I did, I wouldn't have left. And as much as they're my family, and I love them, if I had let my attachment to them cloud my judgement, I never would have been able to leave, either! But it was the right decision.
And droids are only as intelligent as a computer. They can only "think" so far as their programming parameters allow them to. They can't form independent thought or react to situations they have no data for.
no subject
Before you were kidnapped here, you mean?
no subject
It's a long story.
no subject
But if you're not part of that order anymore, then there's nothing stopping you from going after Lux, is there?
no subject
I'm full of them, I guess.
no subject
Sorry, I got a bit more abrasive than I meant to there.
Having to repress emotions and attachments is kind of a sore spot for me.
Long story.
I hope it works out for you, at least.
no subject
The Jedi way of life... it isn't for everybody. It's kind of extreme. It's a lifestyle, you have to choose it. I get that. I wouldn't expect it of anyone else.
I might not be a Jedi anymore, but the teachings of the Code are still sacred to me. I don't think I'd feel comfortable acting any other way.
