Who: Allen Walker and You!
Broadcast: Video
Action: Blue Fish!
When: Today

[If you've been in the fleet for awhile you might have seen one of these broadcasts before. Allen appears to be in the Blue Fish lab, standing behind a table. Behind him Timcanpy sits on a shelf, this time wearing a small Santa hat. Allen seems to have a smile on, but for the observant it might seem a bit more staged than normal]

Hello everyone! For those who don't know me, I'm Allen Walker, I'm one of the medics aboard the SS Blue Fish. Which I must say, I'm quite glad to be back on the Blue Fish after the last couple months we've had.

Just a couple announcements today! We'll be holding our bi-monthly blood drive next weekend! The blood donated will be kept in case of medical emergencies that require a blood transfusion - in other words, using scientific methods to help someone whose lost a lot of blood. If you are interested in donating, we will pay you in money. Just fill out the form attached to this video. [And sure enough, the form is attached]. If you're interested in volunteering at the drive, we'd welcome the help, just let me know.

And yes, as always, there will be cookies and juice for anyone who donates.

[Alright, that's done, moving on now]

Secondly, it's come to my attention that during this time of year, many worlds have special holidays: Christmas, Hanukkah, Winter Veil, Hearth's Warming Eve, New Years and probably others I haven't heard of yet. There's nothing wrong with choosing to celebrate them even though we are far from home. If anything, it might help people feel a bit better about being here. No matter where you are or what you celebrate- it stands true that a holiday spent with the people you cherish can be truly magical.

[There's a beat as he smiles at the camera, then he continues on in the same chipper manner:]

That said, please be careful of any holiday decorations that may actually be magical, because in some worlds' traditions that's a good way to wind up kissing your crewmates. And if you choose to spend these holidays drinking, please remember to eat and stay hydrated. You'll thank yourself in the morning.

That's all for now! I hope you have a good day and a nice holiday season.

[He gives a wave to the camera before the feed cuts out]

[OOC: As usual, the blood drive will be handwaved due to time! Thanks all!]

That's... terrifying. On many, many levels. Some sort of fertility god...?

[She does seem quite freaked out by that idea.]

I guess 'setting reasonable goals' isn't one that gets made often?

That is still terrifying. Was she ready for that?

[your religion is terrifying]

Not sure I'll be participating in that tradition, at least. I'd rather see if I can try to remember anything about Ashvaran tradition over figuring out Earth's.

... That must have been an awkward conversation.

[okay. okay let's make a shitty joke and move on because holy shit let's never think about that again.]

I remember one, but it's... Not exactly feasible here.

The Festival of Betyl and Sessho is the full name, but it's usually just called Full Moons' Night. It takes place about once every ten years or so, when both moons are full at once, so... Not really applicable in space, you know?

[She shrugs.]

It's not too bad. It's not really that fun when you're single, anyway.

Yep. Get a date, find a good picnic place to watch the moons, hope like fuck it doesn't rain.

It's a celebration of Betyl and Sessho, who the moons are named after. They became the first heroes through their love for each other.

The Atroma actually uploaded a copy of the story, if you want to read the whole thing.

The short version, their feelings gave them strength to overthrow a god.

It's mostly a children's fairy tale anymore, but... It's easier to read it than have me recite the whole thing.

[She totally could recite the whole thing, but she is never admitting it.]
